Not just practical tips as we parent our parents but also emotional support and spiritual encouragement from authors who have been there before. There are also 30 devotionals at the end of the book. This would make a useful and helpful book for those who are heading towards or are already in that phase in life.
In 5 chapters the authors give an encouraging guide on how to become a caregiver to your aging parents. This is done through help lists and examples. The main encouragement and positivity comes from the scriptures and bible verses which are applied to situations and are interpreted to help you as future caregiver. It is certainly positive, very Christian and helpful.
This book really hit home for me. My father passed to cancer years ago and my mom suffers from Parkinson’s disease. It is a hard thing to be the caretaker of your parent. I like how this book drew from personal experiences. It also reminds caretakers that they need take care of themselves. You cannot help anyone if you are suffering from being burnt out.
This book made me really start to think about my kids and the roles they will play as I age. I had not really thought much about me getting older as I have focused on my own parent.
This book is very well written and definitely worth the read.
Recently finished, excellent book to be given to anyone involved with elder care or a similar situation.will be recommending and passing on copies as appropriate. Unaware of any simpler more helpful book on the market!
Excellent book! This book is so needed! I appreciate the helpful real-life advice and little tips to make life easier. They confront faulty thinking and help shape a better-rounded perspective of the child's role as their parent's caregiver! I am so thankful for this book! I will be ordering a copy for myself and an extra to share with friends!
