Teaches using basic shape method. The step-by-steps are easy to follow. Is it a collection of things I would really buy a book for? No, but for many the variety would be really good. I also acknowledge that because I am a bit experienced at this point, I tend to lean towards more “themed” how to draw books. This is a great beginner book, and there were definitely bits of it that were helpful for me and that I imagine even a more advanced drawer could get some tips from it.

This is a very good option for introducing kids to the basics of drawings in a non-intimidating way. It covers a lot, so a kid can start by choosing subjects that are more familiar to gain confidence to move on to the more challenging ones. The instructions really go down to the basics so that even someone without much drawing experience could be encouraged to try out some drawings.

Great overall book for kids. This give a really good overview of the basics at a kids level. It breaks down shapes and different objects into parts to really see how everything comes together. Covers stuff like perspective, shading, decorative lettering and even a little coloring. I drew the pizza, cupcake, coffee below and pretty pleased with results. Thanks to the publisher and netgalley for a digital ARC to review.

HOW TO DRAW is a great little beginner drawing primer. Although designed for kids, I actually requested the book for myself so I could work on my severely limited drawing skills at an appropriate beginning level. I will use it regularly, and plan to share it with my granddaughter, whose drawing skills are already far superior to mine.

This is a very nice drawing primer by Aaria Baid. I will refer to it often.
