Well, that was a wild ride! I was definitely on the edge of my seat throughout this story! So many twists and turns, kept me guessing. I did figure out part of the story very early on but was still shook with another twist at the end ...

Loved The Other Mrs.! Extremely well written, full of suspense and the twists that I crave in a thriller! Read this one!

Huge thank you to NetGalley for my advance copy!

Sadie and Will, along with their two sons Tate and Otto, move to Maine to escape the troubles of the past and start fresh. After Will’s sister death, his niece Imogen becomes an addition to the family. When their neighbor Morgan is found dead in her home, the small community is on edge and their trust in each other begins to unravel. Sadie finds the death unsettling and decides to immerse herself in solving Morgan’s mysterious death.

Morgan’s death occurs pretty early in the book and I didn’t find that there was as much thrilling twists as I was expecting. The Other Mrs. has a slow paced narrative and I felt a sort of lag in the middle of the book. Imogen is set up to seem like a troubled “creepy” teen which seemed out of place with the atmosphere and other characters in the book. The final twist and reveal caught me off guard but I ended up feeling more confused rather than shocked and I’m still not quite sure how I feel about it. Even with the questionable twist, I enjoyed the last couple chapters I thought it was much more edge of your seat than the rest of the book.

This was a thrilling read!

The story was very fast paced. It progressed quickly, with many twists. The story had three alternating narratives. Sadie was the main narrative. There was also Camille, a woman who was having an affair with Sadie’s husband. The third one was Mouse, a six year old girl.

I can’t say much about this book without spoiling the ending. It was cleverly written. At first, I didn’t like the big revelation, once I realized what was going on. However, when I looked back on the whole story I realized how carefully everything was written so the answers were right there in the story all along.

I really enjoyed this book!

I really enjoyed this book! The beginning was a slow start that took a while to build. While it was a slow burn at first, when the twist finally hit, it was a huge slap in the face. I loved loved loved the twist. Probably my favorite part about this novel is that, since the beginning is so slow, I was so smug thinking I had figured out the ending. I was so confident that I had the ending pegged that I almost stopped the book. I am so glad I kept going. Kubica's writing draws you in and makes you feel like your conclusion is, of course, the obvious right answer. However, the twist was even better than my conclusion. Even after the twist, I still didn't see the follow up twist coming! I was shocked and awed and it was all worth it. I loved this book. Solid 4 star from me!!

The Other Mrs. was a fast paced read told from multiple points of view. A few twists/coincidences were a bit too much to be believable. Enjoyed the book.

I had a really hard time getting into this book despite it being my favorite genre. The multiple viewpoints really added to the story line. Overall, it wasn't my favorite Mary Kubica book, but I do recommend giving it a try.

Plenty of twists and turns in this new one by Mary Kubica! The setting is perfect and I always enjoy novels that are told from multiple POV. The ending threw me for a loop and I still haven't quite decided how I feel about it. Overall though, the book was a good read and a real page-turner.

Creepy, claustrophobic, tense, atmospheric, compelling. This book had such a chilling and eery vibe to it. Imagine moving from a busy city like Chicago to a creepy isolated island off the coast of Maine. To make things even spookier within days after you move a neighbor is murdered, and the murderer has to have spent the night on the island, because the only way on or off is by ferry. Sadie needed a new start, but she didn’t think she would find herself living in a secluded house on a sinister island with a hostile teenager. When her neighbor Morgan is murdered Sadie becomes the number one suspect, even though she never met the woman. What follows is a twisted and tense tale that kept me on my toes.

Told from three different perspectives that of Sadie, Camille, and a young girl named Mouse. Camille is not only Sadie‘s ex roommate, but she’s also the other woman and has an unhealthy obsession with Sadie. Mouse is a young girl who is being abused by her “fake mommy“.** The abuse in this book is very brutal, and might be triggering for some. ** As The story unfolded I was able to suss out what was going on. This however did not detract from my overall enjoyment of the book. For me The claustrophobic, atmospheric, sinister setting of the story really made this book so chilling and tense. Not to mention Sadie did some really stupid things putting herself in major danger. I was on the edge of my seat, yelling at the book, “ NO NO NO!!!” Another thrilling winner from Mary Kubica.

🎧🎧🎧 The audiobook is narrated by Piper Goodeve Who did a remarkable job with making this tense story even more chilling.

There was a slight struggle with this book. I had heard mixed reviews from various people, and to be completely honest, I almost put it down early on. But I kept at it and ultimately finished it. I think I was really disappointed because I had heard so much about the author and how great she was. But my problem was that it was so predictable, because I am so analytical. Where others were blindsided by the twist, I saw the signs. I’m looking for them after all.

But I am here to say that it was enjoyable even when I did see the twists. Some of the characters turned out to be different than what we thought. However, I am sure most people wouldn’t see it coming. If you have read this book, let me know what you thought!

Small Summary:
Sadie and Will Foust have only just moved their family from bustling Chicago to small-town Maine when their neighbor Morgan Baines is found dead in her home. The murder rocks their tiny coastal island, but no one is more shaken than Sadie.
But it’s not just Morgan’s death that has Sadie on edge. And as the eyes of suspicion turn toward the new family in town, Sadie is drawn deeper into the mystery of what really happened that dark and deadly night. But Sadie must be careful, for the more she discovers about Mrs. Baines, the more she begins to realize just how much she has to lose if the truth ever comes to light.

2,5 stars. It took me SO long to finish this book! THREE months! I started it back in November and I couldn't read further than a few pages before getting bored. I couldn't connect with any of the characters and I didn't care at all about them.

If you are used to reading thrillers and mysteries, by the 30% mark, you will have already guessed everything that's going to happen until the end. This book requires you to engage in some serious suspension of disbelief because once you figure out what the main big plot twist is going to be, it is absolutely incredible how no one else has figured it out in the book. It just doesn't make sense, and with every page I just got more angry about it.

I only kept reading because I really hate to DNF a book, but i ended up being glad I did because that last nerve-wracking scene was _very_ well written and it got me all nervous about who was going to end up winning. It was still quite unbelievable, but I really liked it.

So, in short, I did not like this book, but that last scene made me think that the author can still write cool things, so I will read another of her books :)

Will and Sadie moved from Chicago and from their troubles to a remote island and a house Will inherited from his sister.

Not sure their troubles were left behind, though. Will became the guardian of his niece who is quite difficult, and then a neighbor is murdered.

The troubles left behind were nothing compared to what was happening to the family now. Threatening notes on their cars, intruders coming in when the house was empty, people spying on them, and Sadie being accused of the neighbor’s murder as well as her family telling her she didn’t see things she saw.

The characters in this book all seemed to have something to hide or some problem with people in their lives.

We meet husbands having affairs, a spooky, sinister-seeming house, gossipy, small-town citizens, and odd-behaving characters.

How did it all fit together, and how did everything happening follow the Fausts to this small island?

Despite the story line being difficult to follow, THE OTHER MRS is a tense, bizarre, keep-you-turning-the-pages thriller. If you can hang in there, the ending is well worth the wait.

The ending wraps up all the loose ends for a satisfying conclusion that will stick with you. 4/5

I struggled to connect with this book and had a hard time with some of the ways the topics were discussed, especially the ending. These issues include family secrets, deception, and mental health. This may have just been one of those books that was not a good fit for me personally.

As my first Mary Kubica book to read, I was pleasantly surprised by this one! Early on, I thought I knew where this book was headed, but that changed the more I learned. In the end it managed to twist in a way I wasn't expecting. I enjoyed discovering tidbits along the way and trying to clue together all the pieces. While its not going to end up on a list of my favorites, I definitely recommend it for a good thriller!

Sadie, Will, and their kids move from Chicago to a small island town in Maine. They've moved because Will's sister Alice has died and left them her house and custody of her 16-year-old daughter Imogen. Sadie and Will have seized on this move as an opportunity for a needed fresh start.

Not long after they are moved in, one of their neighbors, Morgan Baines, is found murdered in her home by her stepdaughter, This unsettles Sadie badly. She finds herself drawn into the investigation after another neighbor tells the detective that they saw her having a disagreement with Morgan.

As the investigation proceeds, Saide feels like they are trying to make her into the scapegoat for the crime. She starts doing risky things to investigate on her own and prove her innocence.

The book is told in 4 points of view. Three for most of the book - Sadie, Camille, and Mouse. Will, the fourth, is only shown near the end. Still, it works pretty well.

I mostly liked Sadie and Will. I felt for Imogen who lost her mother and seemed to be acting out. While there are indeed multiple points of view, the story is mainly Sadie's. I liked the way that Sadie seems so put together at the beginning but seems to come apart a little more with each twist.

Just when I thought I had a handle on things, there would be a twist that would make me doubt my conclusions. The mystery was well played out. There were some very good red herrings. When I finally learned the truth, I could look back and see a lot of it coming. But, there was still a major plot twist near the end that changed so much.

Overall, I give this book 5 stars out of 5. It's well-paced. The twists are creative and mostly unexpected. If you enjoy thrillers/suspense with a female protagonist, this could be a good book for you.

I have been a huge fan of Mary Kubica since I picked up Pretty Baby, and she did not disappoint with The Other Mrs.

It is very dark and twisted, and any fans of her previous work are going to love it...it may be my new favorite.

Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for allowing me to read an early copy. I loved it so much that I pre-ordered the audiobook and listened the day it was released. The narrator was excellent, and listening made the story seem even sinister than it did while I read it.

Can't wait for her next book!

This was a fun, plot-twisting thriller that I found enjoyable, entertaining and very readable. The book begins with a family who moves from Chicago to rural Maine, where they have inherited a house as well as all the things in the house when the husband's sister dies. One of those "items" is his niece, who is an angsty, angry, Goth-acting 16-year-old girl. I found the characters in this to be intriguing and I loved the niece as a character. She really adds a lot to the story.
I did think of one of the major plot twists at about 25-30% into the book and found myself looking for clues to see if I could track how likely I thought this was going to be correct. This was really well-written and there are many other plot twists as well.
My negatives are that I found the ending a little too unbelievable given everything we have learned about these characters leading up to this point. I also thought, because of this, that there were some events left unresolved. It would be a major spoiler to go into it so I won't do that, but it wouldn't cause me to steer anyone away from this book It just felt a little rushed at the end based on the well-written build up.
Overall, a 4/5. Thanks to #Netgalley #Harlequin for the early copy to review.

Summary
Sadie and Will just moved their family from Chicago to Maine to take care of their estranged niece. When their neighbor turns up murdered, the island is shaken. Suspicion quickly surrounds the newcomers putting Sadie on edge. This was supposed to be a fresh start for their family, but now their secrets be discovered.

Overview
➸ POV: Alternating POVs from multiple characters

➸ Sadie Foust: Wife to Will, Mother to 2 sons Tate and Otto, Physician, Moved to Maine from Chicago after sister in-laws death to care for her teenage daughter Imogen.

➸ Content Warnings: Suicide, Cheating, Death of a loved one, Chronic illness, Bullying, Stalking, Homophobia, Abuse, Personality disorders, On page animal abuse

My Thoughts
First off - this book is really intense and descriptive in some of the more graphic content. This book goes into a lot (in my opinion too much) detail about Will's sister's illness and suicide. As well as on page child abuse and animal cruelty. There were definitely moments that were hard to stomach and I had to skim over some of the more descriptive scenes.

My favorite part of this story was the intense and suspenseful atmosphere Mary Kubica created. I was on the edge of my seat from the get-go. Not only was this setting alone eerie, but this book just made me feel like I was being watched. I loved all of the creepy vibes.

I went into this without re-reading the synopsis because I wanted to be surprised and (to an extent) surprised I was! This book just throws you in with no explanation and I was so invested in figuring out the backstories and how all the characters were connected. I didn't find the big reveal to be especially surprising (I take notes while I read and my guess around the 44% mark ended up being pretty accurate) however I really enjoyed the pacing of how things were revealed. There are tons of side characters with dark or secret pasts so there was always action and reveals happening which kept the book moving and fast paced.

While I loved the creepy vibes and pace of this, I was pretty disappointed by the ending. I felt like there was a lot of buildup for a pretty lackluster conclusion. And I could have done without the epilogue entirely. I totally appreciate what the author was going for - I highly recommend reading the Author's Note at the end - but it just wasn't for me.

Overall, this was just a pretty average domestic thriller for me. It had an amazing eerie vibe, but I didn't find it especially surprising or memorable.

I love the twist and turns in Mary's books and this is my favorite by far. Will and Sadie are trying to mend their marriage and start fresh in Maine. The murder of their neighbor puts everyone against each other in this small little island town. Second guessing every move. Can they save their marriage and family life?

Mary Kubica is a master of suspense, plotting and writing! The Other Mrs. is a fascinating and horrifying tale where you don't really know whodunit until the very end. Filled with possible and probable suspects, the story entertains throughout every single chapter.
