I received this book free of charge from NetGalley in exchange for my honest review.
I started off feeling a bit unsure of what to think of this book. The first half wasn’t really grabbing me and there were what felt like a bunch of different storylines going in different directions.
But of course there was a twist. And it was a good one. And ended up changing my thoughts from so-so to this was pretty good.

Wow! What a roller coaster ride!
An intense suspense/thriller that will grab you and not let you go.
Though you can figure out the main twist pretty fast, there is a very surprising and intriguing twist at the end that I never saw coming.
This story has suicide, murder, cheating husband, crazy dysfunctional people, a psycho stalker and just lots of creepiness! The story is engaging, fast paced and oh, so very complex.
I recommend this for any psych suspense thriller readers out there!
Thank you to NetGallery, Harlequin and author, Mary Kubica, for the opportunity to read and review this book for my honest opinion.

I really enjoyed this book. It was very twisty and kept me intrigued throughout the entirety of the book. However, I did guess one of the big twists fairly early on. If you pay close attention, the writer makes it very obvious. However, other parts still took me by surprise.

Dr. Sadie Foust and her family move to a small town in Maine when her husband, Will’s sister Alice dies by suicide. Alice left Will her house and the care of her teenage daughter Imogen in her will. Things start to escalate when a murder occurs on the small island, and no one is safe.
I was completely enthralled in this book, I could not stop reading it. The action kept me going, the mystery, the characters. I liked the description of the little island in Maine itself, it seemed quite charming. The plot was well done. When I found out about the plot twist I was absolutely surprised and did not see it coming. I can usually figure it out beforehand but the author did a great job concealing her surprise.

I was a longtime fan of Kubica, her first few books were so good but her last book was not my favorite, so to say I was a little hesitant about this one is an understatement. I am thrilled to say that she’s BACK!! This one was a huge improvement for me over her last and I’m back on the Kubica train.
Since I don’t really wanna discuss the plot at all let me tell you about the fantastic atmosphere that made an already unsettling story even better. The Foust family relocates to Maine where they live in an isolated island where the last ferry leaves every night at eight o’clock. They’re stuck there unless there’s some sort of huge emergency and this added such a strong sense of unease because you just know that’s going to be an issue (and there’s already a a whole host of other issues). Throw in some twists, a few viewpoints that you’re not quite sure make sense at the start and I was hooked! Definitely a solid thriller that held my attention, a few slightly implausible parts but I just rolled with it and let myself be entertained.

Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the ARC!
I devoured this book in a day. I figured out the dissociative identity disorder twist pretty early on, but I did not see the twist about the husband coming. I should have known Mary Kubica would have a trick up her sleeve for the ending! Also, the atmosphere of the house and the island were SO creepy. It made me never want to visit the Maine islands.
Kubica never disappoints and this one was no exception.

"If time can turn something so undesired into something so loved, the same can happen to all of us. The same can happen to me."
Sadie and her husband Will are shocked as they have heard of a murder on the small coastal island that their family recently moved to. Being the new family in town eyes are looking their way. Sadie is determined to find out the truth to get the town off of her family's back. The truth doesn't come so easily.
While I enjoyed this book it didn't really live up to the hype for me as much as I thought it would. I half way guessed the twist early on. I am looking forward to seeing the movie on Netflix.

5 stars for The Other Mrs. by Mary Kubica!
I had this one on my TBR list for quite some time. You and I both know how it is to get approved for a favorite author. It feels like you're in on a secret the rest of the world doesn't know about yet.
The Other Mrs. by Mary Kubica was suspenseful and gutsy. I read past my bedtime 2 nights for this one, and it did not disappoint.
Sadie and Will move to Maine to, "start over." He inherits a house and his niece and it seems to be the perfect time because things in Chicago were quickly unraveling for Sadie, Will, and their two boys. Hesitant to move, but with no other options, Sadie gives it her best shot. When the woman across the street is murdered, the questions start.
I immediately was so skeptical of all the characters in the book. I didn't know who to believe and in my opinion, everyone had a motive.
In classic Kubica style, the turns and roller coaster dips and dives got more and more drastic as the story unfolded. Happy to recommend this one. It was dark, snowy, shadowy, and full of jumps!
Thank you to @harlequinbooks and @parkrowbooks for collaborating with @netgalley to provide me with this amazing read. @marykubica, putting that scary teenage girl at the front of the story really made for quite an adventure and lots of questions. I think people are going to line up to buy this one! #5stars #bookreview #newrelease #booklover #bibliophile #bookstagram #lovetoread #sendmebooks #booknerd #readforfun #suspense #thriller #mystery #pageturner #onemorechapter #readmorebooks #supportauthors #booksandcoffee #netgalley #theothermrs

Propulsive, disturbing, and absorbing. THE OTHER MRS. is an insanely twisted psychological thriller!"
If you have followed my book blog since 2014, you are aware I am an avid Mary Kubica fan! Starting with her debut, The Good Girl and the five books since— each has been a glowing 5 Star read (see my review links below).
One of my favorite authors, she continues to be on my top author and book list every year. I will read anything she writes and always anxiously awaiting the next. My three top female thriller authors: Mary Kubica, Karin Slaughter, and Lisa Gardner!
The "queen of domestic suspense" returns with her best yet, THE OTHER MRS. After reading, you can see why Netflix has adapted this atmospheric and chilling thriller! She keeps getting better if that is even possible. Here is your chance to read before the feature film.
THE OTHER MRS. is unpredictable, with more twists than you can imagine, unreliable narrators, and a myriad of entertaining and mysterious sharply drawn characters. A flawless execution, an intense, disturbing psychological thriller with a jaw-dropping finale that will blow you away!
Hint: readers, I would recommend you refrain from the wine while reading (Sadie likes her wine). It would help if you were alert. Keep up. A lot is going on. You do not want to miss a thing. You will not be able to determine which character is telling the truth or what secrets they are hiding. What is real, and what is false? Lines are blurred.
No one does atmospheric, isolation, hypnotic, captivating, and spellbinding better than Mary!
Let’s dive in.
Will and Sadie Foust leave their Chicago home behind. (unfortunately, not all their secrets) are left in the Windy City.
There is a lot of history to be soon slowly unraveled. Let me say this family has a LOT of drama. From Sadie’s job as a physician, Will’s infidelity as a professor and obsession of women, and son Otto’s (age 14) issue at school with a bully. Their other son, Tate (age 7), is pretty much drama-free thus far.
The family decides to get a new start and put Chicago in their rearview when Will inherits a farmhouse on a small remote island off the coast of Maine. It is very isolated, and the only way to arrive is by ferry, which closes each evening. However, things are not as idyllic as they imagined it would be.
Kubica sets the mood, and you have a strong sense of unsetting, disturbing, and foreboding. Something is about to happen, and it will not be pleasant.
Will’s sister, Alice committed suicide (hanging) and left the house to Will. His sister had Fibromyalgia and evidently could not live with ongoing pain and all the meds. (on a side note, I live with this condition as well; however, refuse to take any medications – and live with it. Not fun).
The home comes with Will’s 16-year-old orphaned niece, Imogene, who is very strange, eerie, and troubled. She does not like her new Aunt and Uncle. She makes their life miserable. She is very Goth, and she was the one who found her mother hanging. Sadie is afraid of her and thinks she is a bad influence on her boys. She begins her own sleuthing.
On top of this, soon, a female neighbor is murdered. Who did it? The woman’s husband, his ex, or any one of the characters? Officer Berg is on the case. Let the games begin! Everyone is a suspect, and you do not know who you can trust.
We hear from Camille, Sadie, and a little girl which his tormented and abused called “Mouse.” (with Fake Mom). Then the last ten percent we hear from Will. (How in the world Mary, did you keep all these POV organized)? Impressive!
The criminal murder investigation leads to Sadie. Will is acting strangely, and Sadie soon discovers information from Will’s past, which deals with his past wife and former fiancée. Sadie is worried about the neighborhood, Otto (is he regressing), Will (can she trust him), the necklace which belongs to the woman who was murdered shows up in her house, and now she is afraid of Imogen since she has threatened her. Someone is out to get her, and she must save herself and her two boys.
The secrets of the past refuse to stay buried! There is a killer on the loose.
Cleverly crafted, you will not be able to put this one down. It is dizzying, disturbing, and heart-pounding. Your head will be spinning, trying to figure out what will happen next. You will be holding your breath! Fans of Gone Girl and The Girl on the Train will find a lot to like here.
Mary tackles some high-charged topics of infidelity, obsession, bullying, suicide, and mental illness. The weather elements and isolation of the island all set the mood for this dark and chilling novel. Kubica’s strength as a master storyteller shines as she pilots this stormy ship— controlled, tightly plotted, and superbly written.
I highly recommend THE OTHER MRS. and all her books. Top Books of 2020!
I ADORE Mary's girls (books, front covers) and hats off to the marketing team for this unique branding. As I mentioned years ago, someone, please snap a photo of the Chicago billboard with all her gals lined up. I am sure it will be forthcoming. I cannot wait to see what is next!
A special thank you to Park Row and NetGalley for an early reading copy. I also pre-ordered the hardcover and audiobook and look forward to listening (narrated by Piper Goodeve and Jeremy Arthur).

Great thriller here! Look no further if you like twisty stories with unreliable narrators. Nearly every character in this book is unreliable and what fun it is for readers to figure out who is the most trustworthy.
Sadie and her husband move to a small community in Maine in order to take care of an orphaned niece who comes with the perk of an inherited home. Sadie immediately gets bad vibes from the niece and she doesn’t really feel at ease in the dark old home. To make matters worse, the people in the community aren’t very welcoming.
A murder soon occurs on their street and Sadie is freaked out knowing a murderer is among them. Her curiosity leads her to do a little investigating on her own and the path leads her to some deeply unpleasant surprises.
Everything leads up to an explosive and shocking ending. I highly recommend this one for readers who enjoy thrillers.
Many thanks to Harlequin/Park Row and NetGalley for allowing me to read an advance copy and give my honest review.

Whenever I start a book like this (thrillery/murdery) I cannot help but spend the entire book predicting the ending. It’s a quirk of mine. Having read as many of this kind of book as I have I’m generally pretty good and guessing- this one was predictable, but only to a point and the level of surprise/satisfaction of what the ending was made this a great read. The pacing of this book, the characterization and the story were spot on. I didn’t feel like there was a wasted word.

Generally speaking, it takes me about a chapter and a half to get so frustrated with paranoid female characters who question everything and everybody. Truth is, the same thing happened here, but there was something so intriguing about the story that my sensible self told my annoyed self to put a lid on it and keep going. And you know what? That was the sensible thing to do.
Sadie, her husband Will and their two sons have left Chicago for Maine, where Will inherited a old but spacious home from his late aunt. Will insisted that they move largely because the aunt's daughter, Imogen, was left an orphan at 16; worse, her mother committed suicide and Imogen was the one who found her.
The scene then shifts to Camille, who lives in Chicago and not only had a fling with Will, but became obsessed with him. At one time, she was Sadie's roommate and coveted Will, but Sadie won him over. Problem is, Camille won't let him alone, finding him for trysts wherever and whenever she can.
From the start, Sadie doesn't much care for Maine; also from the start, Imogen absolutely hates both Sadie and Will - and that makes life difficult at best. But then, it gets worse; a neighbor is found murdered, and fingers begin to point to Sadie - who of course swears she's innocent. And as the evidence against her piles up, the more suspicious and paranoid Sadie becomes. The local police chief - and even her own sons - call her a liar.
Just as I'm about to think the same about her, the plot twists begin; quickly, the scenario changes, and keeps bringing surprises right up to the end. Some of them, including the ending, stretched believability a bit (on occasion more than a bit), but overall, this one is a keeper that held my attention throughout. Thanks to the publisher, via NetGalley, for the opportunity to read and review an advance copy.

Well this was a page turner!! This book is an excellent domestic thriller. Sadie and her husband move to a new town to take care of their niece. The niece’s mother had committed suicide in the house so that’s creepy right there. Soon after Sadie and Will and their family move in, a neighbour is murdered in her home. As the police start to investigate it quickly becomes apparent they expect Sadie. Sadie is confused as to why they would suspect her as she has never met the woman. Meanwhile Imogen, the niece, hates Sadie and goes out of her way to make her life miserable. We also have two more key characters, Camille who Will had an affair with and a little girl named Mouse. There are so many twists and turns and so many suspects. This book has amazing atmospheric writing. I don’t want to say more and give up too much of the plot. I will say I loved this book and couldn’t read it fast enough.

She has done it once again!! What a tale of delicious deception!! I could not put this down!! Once I started, I had to keep reading long into the night!! Simply a MUST read!

If you love Mary Kubica, you will love this book. Another edge of your seat by one of the best in her genre. I look forward to reading everything by her.. I have been a huge fan since her first book and I will continue to read anything she puts out. You will not be disappointed ! Get the book !

The latest novel from Mary Kubica is fast paced, very atmospheric, and full of twists and turns. Will and Sadie inherit a creepy old house on a small island in Maine and move in with their two boys. The story is told from multiple POV's and is perfect for fans of psychological thrillers or domestic thrillers. Five stars!!

I was given opportunity to read ARC.

Love is possible even for the lowly!

I am so glad I had the opportunity to read The Other Mrs.! I don't read a lot of thrillers or dark novels, but every now and then I enjoy a change of pace from the usual genres I usually read, and I have always liked Mary Kubica's novels. I do gravitate towards novels with psychological subject matter, especially surrounding family, and that is why this one piqued my interest. I breezed through it, it was captivating and because it was written so well, I was completely engrossed from the beginning to the end!

Yes! I loved this book. I thought the setting was great, so dark and eerie, isolated and lovely. Mary Kubica has written a well put together book with this story, The Other Mrs., I stayed up to finish this in a few sittings. The characters are well-wrought, you believe them, and there is enough tension and turmoil to keep you reading. Highly recommend. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an advance copy.

Well I don't know why I read this, because in my last two reviews I had declared I was going to give up on Mary Kubica. I guess I got lucky though, because she has definitely turned the trajectory around. This book was intense and dark and a good kind of slow suspense. I did see one of the major twists coming, but it was okay because it was fun to puzzle it out and try to figure out if I was right and how it all lined up. The other big twist rather shocked me, so I had the satisfaction of figuring something out and the satisfaction of being surprised. I think my biggest issue with the book was with Imogen's character. The family moves to Maine to care for this hostile orphaned teenager, but they don't really parent her, focusing all their attention on their biological sons. She has some very complex issues, but she's essentially relegated to a plot device. Honestly, I think I could have gone to 4 stars except for that. Because otherwise it's a standout in the genre, carefully plotted with unique main characters whose issues <spoiler>dissociative identity disorder, psychopathy, depression, trauma</spoiler> are tied together into an intricately plotted suspense.
