What another great book from Mary Kubica! I’ve read previous books from this author and really enjoyed them. I was pleasantly surprised to see that this was just as good as those. I enjoyed the story and the characters were very well written.

If you like somewhat creepy tales, this one is for you. It has it all, suicide, murder, and misplaced suspicion. This book will definitely keep you reading well into the night, because you will want the answer to, "What is going to happen next?"

Wow. That’s all I can say about this incredible book. I was hooked from the very beginning and I couldn’t put it down. The Other Mrs follows Sadie, a mother who moved her family to an island off of Maine when her husband is named caretaker for his teenage niece. The timing is perfect because there have been problems in their family, so Sadie and Will move for a fresh start.

Shortly after their move, there is a brutal murder across the street from where they live. Said begins to suspect that her step-daughter Imogine has something to do with the murders and starts following a trail that leads her down a dark path. As she gets closer and closer to the truth, Sadie starts finding out things that change her perspective.

I loved that this book was told from three unique perspectives. The writing was fantastic and kept me engaged the entire time. I loved following the story and trying to figure out where the characters were taking me.

I will say I did figure out the ending about half-way through the book, but I can only blame myself because of how many thrillers and mysteries I read. There were parts of the ending that took me by surprise though, and I was still excited and shocked by the ending. This is a great domestic thriller and I definitely recommend it! It was well-written and fast-paced, and I would give it 5-stars!

Wow!!! I've read a few of Mary Kubica's books. This one has to be my favourite! This book is told from three perspectives and one more closer to the end of the book. I'll admit, I was a little confused with the perspective of Mouse and of Camille and wasn't too sure how Mouse adds to the overall storyline. BUT, it all come together!! This book was slow at first, but gets going later on. Do not give up on this book!! Totally worth the read.

This is a psychological thriller told from three points of view with an additional point of view added towards the end. It is a story of deception and deceit with numerous twists and turns. A big city family moves into a creepy house in a small town to get a new start, not terribly original as basic plots go. Overall, it is the telling of the story that creates intrigue and tension. The story does drag somewhat around the middle of the book but picks up again. It is also around the middle of the book that I figured out the story. In my mind the number of characters and their connections could only lead to one conclusion. But even knowing where the story was going, I still wanted to find out how the characters would unravel the truth. Tightening up the middle of the book would improve the tension but it is still a pretty good read.

Thank you to Net Galley and the publisher for the opportunity to read this book.

Thank you to NetGalley for the ARC copy of this book.

I'd rate it a solid 3.5, and tip it up to a 4 for the purpose of the Goodreads' star scale. I figured out the twisty-turny aspects of this psychological thriller fairly early on; however, the writing and interesting plot and dynamic characters kept me intrigued enough to continue on. I would definitely pick up another book by this author in the future.

I have tried a few other books by Mary Kubica because everyone I know raves about her. I never seemed to get past the first few chapters, but I was also in a reading slump so I passed that off to that. When I got approved for this ARC, being on a reading binge, I thought this was the perfect time to finally see once and for all if it was me, or if it was Mary.
Well, it was me. It was all me, so much me that I went and put all her other books on hold. This murder mystery on a small coastal island in Maine is told from different POVs, which seems to be the norm for many thrillers lately. It was executed really well,
Sadie and Will have started new lives in Maine and with it comes some pretty creepy family stuff. When one of their close neighbors is murdered, things take a turn for the worse. As Sadie tries to figure out all the weird family history and delve into what really happened to Mrs Baines, she may get more than she bargained for.
There were plenty of twists and ups and downs to keep you entertained. The novel is long enough to get to know the characters and while I felt it lagged in a few places, those were few and far between. It held my interest to the very last page.
I can't wait to read more by this author.

What a great book! #netgalley gave me the opportunity to read an advance copy. Having read few of Mary Kubica's books I was quite excited to get into this one! This book did not disappoint! I loved how the book was told from the POV of different characters. I found myself guessing throughout the book, and often times I was wrong! Each POV tells a unique story and the author is great at creating the story through their voices.

As reading the book the author keeps you entertained and it was a page turner for sure. You will find many characters lovable and maybe even find one (Imogen) that you do not like as well... This is definitely a physiological thriller to the end! I enjoyed the climax of the novel and Mary ended the book well

Murder in a small town opens up a blizzard of lies, betrayal, and delusions on a small island in Maine.

Sadie and Will need a fresh start for her marriage and her sons. In an unfortunate circumstance, Will's sister's untimely death leaves him with a new home in Maine, and an anguished teenager. But the black cloud from Chicago follows them into their new life in Maine when Morgan Baines the neighbor is murdered in a grisly fashion. Sadie is consumed with suspicion and is determined to find the suspect. But what she unveils is a barrage of lies that were left behind in Chicago.

This page-turner is beautifully crafted with careful attention to the setting and relationships between the characters. The town feels small with a haunted house, suspicious police officer, small-minded people with the only way off the island is by ferry. Here is the perfect setting for a murder. Imogene is a disgruntled teenager who lashes out her anger and sadness and her awkward relationship with Sadie is believable. Will is the most unlikable husband. And then there is the Mouse and Camille. The novel climaxes during a blizzard which is a perfect setting for natural twists and turns.

Mary Kubica's The Other Mrs. an eerie tales and shows the evolution of her writing style. I would highly recommend this novel for those who enjoy atmospheric and suspenseful novels.

Sadie and Will move to a small town in Maine after a death in the family that resulted in becoming guardians of their niece, Imogen. Soon after their arrival a neighbor is brutally murdered and Sadie doesn’t know who she can and can’t trust. Who is the murder and is Sadie and her family safe or will they suffer the same fate?

I really enjoyed this story. There are several POV in the story and the character development is nicely done in all of these characters. It can be a challenge to write from multiple point of view and not all authors can do this successfully like Kubica. I feel like the personalities of each of these characters really came out in both minor and major details within the story. I’ll say it again. I think this is extremely difficult for an author to do.

I do think that a big piece of the storyline was extremely predictable and obvious, which I think was intentional. I would say more about that if I could, but I don’t want to spoil the story for others. I still found myself wanting to keep reading and I didn’t see the final plot twist coming.

I very much enjoyed the ending and I love when characters within books work to overcome something hard. I especially like when these characters are women doing these things.

I highly recommend reading this book.

I received a free e-copy of The Other Mrs. by Mary Kubica from NetGalley for my honest review.

Sadie and her family leave Chicago and move to Main to get a fresh start after the death of Will's (Sadie's husband) sister. They move into the house that she committed suicide in. They are also now the legal guardians of their 16 year old niece, Imogen. The house gives Sadie the creeps and Imogen isn't helping matters either. Then a neighbor is murdered.

Sadie doesn't know who to trust or what to believe. A psychological thriller with lots of twists. I would rate this one a 3.5 but rounded up because I love Mary Kubica as an author.

The Other Mrs. is about a family who moves from Chicago to Maine for a fresh start. Will is a college professor and Sadie is a doctor. Will's sister passed away and left Will her house and guardianship of her daughter. Something happened when they lived in Chicago and Will really wanted to make the move. Sadie didn't want to and resents him. You learn that actually a few things happened in Chicago and in a way they all needed a fresh start. A murder sets the story in motion. I don't want to say to much so I will just say there is a lot going on and the family is complicated. I was able to figure the book out early on and guessed how the whole thing was going to got but it was still extremely enjoyable to read. I couldn't wait to see if I was right. I enjoyed this book and found it to be entertaining. A tad on the repetative side which got old quick but overall a fun read.

This book started off suuuper slow which I am definitely not a fan of when it comes to thrillers. It is told in multiple perspectives but only one seemed really interesting and engaging to me. The last 20% off the book really kept my attention and I found myself wanting to read more but the ending just wasn't enough to make up for the beginning. Thank you to netgalley and the publisher for my copy.

I have read all of Mary Kubica's books and encourage others to do the same but for some reason, I wasn't able to ground myself in this book. I didn't establish relationships with the characters early enough to keep my interest and there were too many "obvious" options for "who did it" early on. I guess there wasn't enough development overall to keep me engaged. I did find the ending somewhat satisfying overall but the journey to get there left me a but underwhelmed. I do leave open the possibility that I was just not "in the mood" for this particular book so again...based on the track record of Mary Kubica's books, I encourage others to give this one a try.

I love this. One of my favorite books this year. I love how crazy this is and nothing is as it seems.

It looks like I’m not alone in figuring out early on what I imagine was to be a major plot twist.

A credit to Kubica's writing skills is that this didn’t impact in any way how much I enjoyed this dark, domestic thriller.

Highly recommend!

A suspenseful psychological thriller that kept me turning pages. A wide scope of readers may identify because the characters range in age from young adult to adult. Besides surprising the reader with several twists, the author addresses mental health disorders, how they may present and how they could affect the loved ones of those who suffer. The Other Mrs. reinforces that mental health issues are not to be ashamed of, are not as uncommon as we assume, and that they should be addresses rather than suppressed. Kubica speaks out about how we can help ourselves or those who suffer from mental health disorders.

I loved this book, it was so "twisty". I had so many thoughts as to what was going on and who was who only to find out I had no idea, I love when an author can keep me in suspense and lead me to a conclusion only for me to realize I was wrong ;) Mary Kubica is a master at suspense!

The Other Mrs. was a suspenseful read that I couldn't put down. I read the book in two days and it kept me pretty engaged throughout.

The book is about a family who moves from Chicago to a small town in Maine after the husband Will Foust inherits an old estate from his sister who committed suicide. Sadie, the wife, finds it hard to adapt to their new life. The house comes with Will's niece Imogen, who's a darker in temperament than the average teenager, and weeks after their move, their neighbour, Morgan Baines, is found murdered in her home.

The local detective puts the spotlight on Sadie who a neighbour claims was fighting with Morgan. Sadie, however, denies any tension with Morgan and claims to have only interacted with her once. As the novel progresses, Sadie's psyche unravels as she finds disturbing drawings and clues in her home. She starts to think that Morgan's killer may be living in her own house and sets out to find the truth.

I liked this book because it laid many questions on the outset that kept me guessing until the end. I didn't see the twists/reveal coming and I thought the book's ending did a great job of wrapping up all the tension created throughout the book. The pacing was pretty good. The only thing that disappointed me was the author's use of a misunderstood mental illness. I find many fictional works rely on this specific condition to explain criminal behavior. And I think this further exacerbates the issue of assumptions and stereotyping for people who are actually living with this condition.

Thanks for Netgalley and Harlequin Trade Publishing for granting me with an advanced reading copy.

Thanks to NetGalley, publisher and author for letting me read an ARC of this book. The story started promising and interesting. I wanted to know the mystery of Morgan's murder and what happened to Sadie in the past. As I continued to read, the story became confusing. It might be the amount of grammatical errors that threw me off. So sad! I like this author and I will continue to read her books.
