I struggled with this book in productive ways. Having taught Chatterton’s previous memoir, I was excited to read this one, but his narrative seems more detached, more procedural. That said, it is still an important examination of the intersections of race and fatherhood; how we realize the ways we internalize colorist and how that affects the messages and care we have for each other, even within family. Thank you for the opportunity to read.
