Megan O'Malley was mortified when she got drunk and pinched the bandleader's ass at a cousin's wedding. But she was astonished when he turned out to be a leprechaun! Turns out they're not the wee men of fairy tales after all. They just say that because they like a good joke and what better way to hide the gold? Oh, that bit's true - as is the part about not sharing. Fergus O'Reilly cannot figure out what he did to upset the Queen of the Fairies. He was playing a wedding when a drunken lady pinched his ass and the Queen declared him caught. Now he's broke, homeless, and hustling to stop the lovely lady with the wandering fingers from spending his money! A madcap fantasy of money and magic and making the most of your dreams!
The description of this book sounded super cute and madcap crazy. Unfortunately, it wasn’t. I was pretty disappointed in this book.

Feeling Lucky is a cute little book. It was enjoyable to read & gives a feeling of well being and relaxation after reading it. It didn't blow me away, it was nice.
Megan just turned forty and at her cousin's wedding gets trashed & pinches the bandleader's toosh. She wakes up the next morning not remembering anything and then things slowly come back to her. But unbeknown her, she caught herself a leprechaun and a very ornery one at that. Along with catching a leprechaun, she's won the local gas station's lottery. She can't tell the leprechaun to go away and that the money doesn't belong to her or she loses it all.
What's a girl to do?!
This is a cute story of all the ups and downs that Megan goes through with her family and her leprechaun. In the end I like how everything is nicely tied up and there aren't any lingering questions.
I would definitely recommend this book to my friends.
It was a pleasure to be able to read this book. It’s funny and you don’t know what else is going to happen to the protagonist of the story. It’s addicting. I will recommend “Feeling lucky” to my friends.
Thank you Netgalley, the Publisher and the Author for this great opportunity.
Megan has just turned forty when she finds out that fairies and leprechauns are real. In fact, she discovers that she has caught a leprechaun (one she fibds rather attractive) and she now owns his fortune.
Now she has to figure out what to do with the money and a leprechaun!
I foubd the story funny and original, a nice fantasy novel to introduce the series.
Thanks Netgalley and the publisher for my ARC of this book.
Megan O'Malley had just turned 40 when she was drunk at a cousin's wedding and pinched the band leader. Turned out Fergus was a leprechaun and she just got his 5 million dollar fortune. Now she has plenty of problems. She lost her bank job; she has a hostile ginger sleeping on her couch and drinking her diet soda, and the burning need to dispose $5 million in a responsible manner. How she manages all this, plus learns her true family history and finds romance is the fun of the story.
Thanks for Netgalley the chance to read this tale!
I don't think I realized prior to this book just how much my other urban fantasy reads have conditioned me to be in constant fear for the characters' lives. And, yes, this book has just as much urban fantasy as it does paranormal romance.
That's actually one of the things I like about it.
One evening in a drunken state, our heroine Megan approaches a cute-looking guy at a wedding and pinches him on the behind. (And rightly feels pretty lousy about it afterwards.) However, she then discovers the guy (Fergus) is a leprechaun, and the fairy queen has thus decreed that the pinch totally counts as "catching" him, thereby giving Megan a sum of "gold" in the form of five million dollars. So now Megan's got a leprechaun living on her couch. If she uses any sort of phrasing that implies she's kicking him out or doesn't want the money, he'll take it and go. The setup is awesome, and roughly here was where I expected the two to fall head over heels in love. But instead the story focuses on what Megan wants to do with the money, because (gasp and shock!), she's actually responsible enough to admit it's too much to handle alone. Having worked at a bank, Megan's got some plans for how to make the money work for the better of everyone long-term. This becomes a big part of the plot, and if business and finance chat with a backdrop of mischievous fairy magic doesn't sound like your thing, that's completely understandable. I was intrigued.
One book I kept comparing this to is The Hidden Family by Charles Stross. Like Megan, the protagonist Miriam is also thrown into a magical world she didn't know existed and tries to solve problems through establishing a new business that will hopefully benefit everyone. The biggest difference between the two is the constant threat Miriam is under, whereas Megan has frustrations and obstacles, but no one is going to murder her if her business plans go awry. If you like your fantasy with high stakes and thrills, you might find the middle-to-later parts of Feeling Lucky a bit slow or even boring. I started to feel that way myself at a couple points. There were times I really wanted the stakes to be a little higher for Megan. The ending lands well, though. And, yes, there is romance.
Even if the low-stakes plot wasn't 100% my cup of tea, I'm glad this book exists. It's different. And not just because Fergus is a leprechaun rather than a more popular supernatural creature. The book doesn't wrap the entire plot around whether or not Megan and Fergus get together. There's no threat of destruction awaiting the town populace she has to thwart. It tells a smaller story. Maybe you'll like that, and maybe you won't, but it's worth having books like this on the shelf to show the full range of what both paranormal romance and urban fantasy can be.
Rating: 3.5 (rounded up to 4 for NetGalley) out of 5
Megan O’Malley is feeling sorry for herself, gets drunk at a wedding, and pinches the cute wedding band singer.
This sets off a chain of events since the guy she pinched was a leprechaun and according to the rules - she’s caught him. She wins the pot of gold via lottery.
So she’s got Fergus crashing at her place since she’s got all his money. But instead of giving it back, it is her money now after all, she decides to form a foundation to invest in the community and local business.
This is more of an urban fantasy than romance. The book goes into a lot of details about setting up a trust/foundation/taxes. It took a long time for the romance to develop.
If you want an urban fantasy with an older heroine, this may be the book for you.
A cute story about a human woman who unknowingly captures a leprechaun (how could she know when they’re human-sized?) and discovers a whole world of fairies, etc., that she hadn’t known existed. Along with the leprechaun, she gets his fortune, and she decides to create a charitable foundation with the money.
There was a bit too much focus on how to set up a foundation, almost as if the author’s done it and needs to tell other people what she knows (look: I get it, but that’s not why I’m here).
Some of the romance seemed kind of manipulative to me? I’m not sure how to feel about it.
Overall, a cute, fast-paced story that filled an afternoon.
