A great idea in principle but not realistic, I found it very difficult to apply some of these techniques to real life. I could take some tips away from this book and I liked the cover. Interesting read just not for me.

I've tried to understand Feng Shui, and I understand the idea....but not really the instructions. This book seems to be more about decluttering, than full scale Feng Shui. However, I do feel that decluttering and cleaning are the first steps in Feng Shui or in any practice where you want your home to feel like a place you really want to be. So, maybe this would be a nice Step One Feng Shui. I would have prefered to see more mention of gifting and donating items than discarding them. I would much rather please someone by giving them jewelry I don't wear than by tossing it into a body of water.

This is a tough one. It's a good book, but looking at it from a strictly American point of view, it's not what I was expecting. It's very cleaning oriented, which makes sense to me- clutter blocks qi. From there, it moves to how to throw away things- the focus is very much throwing things away, rather than donating, giving away, repurposing, recycling, etc. There is a lot of instruction on what time of day to throw things away, where to throw things away (apparently you want to throw your old jewelry in a body of water?).... this part doesn't jive with me. The author does offer ways to cleanse the old, negative qi from objects you want to keep, so there's that, but there's more emphasis on buying new things. In what seems like a contradiction, natural cleansers are preferred over regular cleansers, and storage containers made of natural elements (wood, ceramic, baskets, cardboard boxes) are preferred over plastic containers, and that's cool. There's a bit of how to arrange things, but it seems to be more small stuff, like which drawer to put your underwear in, and what silverware can be next to each other (knives and forks are good, knives and spoons are bad). The explanations for all this detailed work is very interesting, and provides a good foundation for understanding how feng shui works. The practices covered in this book aren't quick fix things, they'll take some time and work, but I do think they'll be helpful!

I am by no means an expert in feng shui but this book just doesn’t resonate as a true reflection of inner peace by creating a hormonic space. This was very complicated and made it seem like only newly purchased everything is except-able. I just don’t feel like that’s necessary or feasible. I think some of the ideas are good and make sense and I enjoyed looking through it. I received this book from NetGalley for an honest review.

I love the idea of feng shui and am familiar with some of the principles, but I wanted to incorporate a few more before the new year... can't hurt if doing something like putting a fountain near the doorway can increase wealth, amiright?! I started this one but am not loving it because instead of simple ideas and changes, it's very very specific. For example, I knew that getting rid of old pictures of an ex would promote healthy and positive relationships to blossom, but this book is saying that you shouldn't just "throw out" the pics... you must do it in the morning between 9-10AM on the day after a full moon, blah blah blah. It's just too much detail to be enjoyable and/or attainable!

The Golden Principles of Feng Shui Life was very informative in how to apply the principles of Feng Shui. Lots to learn here!

This is a really good book. The visuals are really helpful. I like the idea of this, but I am also a minimalist so many of these things are what I already do! I'm not sure if I will every oraganize my closet differently, but I like the idea!

This is an interesting little book that I ultimately couldn't agree with. One issue for me is that it seemed so consumerist. There's lots of talk about needing to buy new things because old things have bad energy or won't bring good luck. As someone who tries to reuse and make do as much as possible for the environment, I can't get behind the idea of "toss everything and keep buying new to bring good fortune." Also, I don't personalize subscribe to beliefs like women soaking up energy from fabrics or giving bad luck to someone by donating a doll without covering its face. That said, it's a very interesting little book and a fun read.

I tried to review this book on Goodreads and Amazon, but was unable to find any sign of its existence now. Therefore, I'm just reviewing it here.

Wow, I wish now I have the actual book than just the ebook. For someone who lives in Asia and sees my Chinese friends worry about Feng Sui, this is a good resource. It's not technical, like other Feng Sui books, where you have to know the directions, your signs, and compute for things (I've seen books like those). It's a matter of fact and general, with lots of advice where to store things and simple explanations why.

Thank you Netgalley and Nippon Jitsugyo Publishing for a copy of this book. Will look for it in my bookstore.

This short book can be considered a basic introduction into Feng Shui principles. In seven short chapters with plenty of illustrations the author covers areas such as getting rid of old stuff, Organisation of rooms and wardrobes and even one chapter with FAQs. The book is a bit of a mixed bag of advice, like never to store things in plastic containers , or to change all your underwear every two years! Some advice makes sense while some is more difficult to execute , like dispose of unwanted jewellery in water on a sunny day before midday. While there are some good tips of what brings luck and what prevents good energy from flowing the book does not give really satisfying explanations. I have read better books on Feng Shui.

This is a interesting short book. I disagree with some information, such as discarding used items, are landfills are too full now. Why not donate items?

Honest and in-depth advice for reaching your full potential. This advice is presented in easy to follow language that can be broken up and applied in pieces at a time.

Nicely laid out book with lots of space and illustrations. Maybe appropriate, given the contents!
This gives a good overview of feng shui principles, though I wasn't personally persuaded to take up the belief in them.
I don't believe in bad fortune or that 'female bodies absorb more energy from fabric', or the advice to throw away (rather than recycle or donate) things not needed. Things like this made it hard for me to take the advice in the book. I expected more information on the placement of furniture in rooms, rather than on whether or not dog motifs in an entrance way bring bad energy (they do).
While I didn't find much to use myself, therelatively short book was well written and organised and I didn't try any of the techniques, so can't comment on their application.

This is an interesting little book, and the layout, illustrations and colour template is very pleasing to the eye. However I did find some of the information a little bit irrelevant to the Western world. The details and advice are probably a bit too much for me, but some things were very good. The idea of cleaning, and de-cluttering is great, but the precise details took the edge off. I did enjoy reading the book though and I am sure there are some cultures that this will by much more relevant to. Thank You
