ARCTIC ADAGIO is a speedy and exciting crime noir read, slightly near-future, quite Dystopian in global terms but focusing on a microcosm of society as collected on a ship of wealth, leased by trillionaires, crewed by "lucky proletariat" who at least are provided jobs and housing in return for catering to the very, very, wealthy, visiting at the moment the Arctic Circle for the Aurora Borealis. Wrapped around is suggestions of a really Dystopian global society and economy, and in microscopic focus is an apparent murder and potential danger to the crew members, whether innocent or not. It devolves to a former long-term Scotland Yard detective to upend the puzzle and reach the truth, despite multiple efforts to fog his conclusions.
"Arctic Adagio" eBook was published in 2019 and was written by DJ Cockburn (https://cockburndj.wordpress.com). This is Mr. Cockburn's second publication.
I categorize this novella as ‘PG’. Superintendent Rex Harme is providing security on a luxury cruise ship that is above the law. When one of the wealthy passengers goes overboard under suspicious conditions, he must begin thinking like a detective again. He has little time though as it is rumored that much of the crew, including him, will be let go as soon as the ship docks.
I found the 1.25 hours I spent reading this 55-page mystery/thriller interesting. I think better cover art could have been chosen. I give this novel a 3.8 (rounded up to a 4) out of 5.

Arctic Adagio by D.J. Cockburn, an interesting little novella, a person is murdered on board an exclusive yacht, but as the security officer investigates things simply don't add up.
I received an ARC from NetGalley and the publisher for an honest review.
Great twisty little mystery. Although short it was pack full of action. I loved Harme's character and would love to read more about him. The only reason I gave it 4 stars is because it was too short.
