This book was twists and turns throughout. I enjoyed being lost in the story which made the book impossible to put down.

This is a great read and a well-detailed plot that kept me engaged from the very start. I really liked the well-thought-out characters and found them to be believable. I cannot wait to read what the author publishes next.

There isn’t anything more relatable when you read this book. If you have a daughter, then you understand that at some point, generally the teenage years, it is literally like living with a stranger. It’s almost like you don’t even know them anymore. I loved the writing style of this book and of course, I can relate to the characters in this book. I really liked this book. It was my first from this author and I would love to see what else they have written.

With many thanks to Netgalley and the publishers for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

This book left me so frustrated. Let's start with the positives, the writing was very good. The author has the ability to create tension and atmosphere which was good enough to keep me reading despite the very far fetched story line and unbelievable characters. If it had not been for the writing this would have been a DNF. The characters and their reactions to the events in the book were odd, particularly Rose. The story line was so unbelievable that I found myself declaring out loud "oh come on". It could have been a great book but sadly it wasn't.

Life has a way of surprising you, especially if it is your past catching up with you, 20 years later. The book was well written and I can't wait to read the next one by this very talented author. Recommended.

Katie claims to be Chris's daughter so of course Chris and Rose take her in. Turns out not to be the best move. This gets creepy but the twists don't come til near the end so stick with it. Thanks to netgalley for the ARC. A tad trope-y but fun.

A great read and some fantastic twists. Couldn't stop reading! I can't wait to read more from the author based on this.

While I really wanted to like the story, I sadly just couldn't find most of it believable. There are a few twists and that leave you shell-shocked, but they're all towards the end. The beginning and the middle parts of this story were good and contained a good amount of suspense, but the behaviors of the characters were not entirely believable.

I can and usually do forgive a lot when it comes to thrillers because it's probably my favourite genre and I tend to enjoy the silliness that often occurs in them. Perfect Stranger tested every bit of forgiveness I had.

The biggest issue was the dialogue. Do people in the North of England usually refer to their clothes as clothing? There was a lot of "I need that clothing back" or "Pass me that clothing" and I know that seems super trivial but sometimes when you read dialogue that sounds like it's been run through Google translate one too many times, it can really put you off a book as a whole.

The next issue was the characters. The dialogue certainly didn't help me care about them but even outside of that, I genuinely don't think I've cared any less for characters in a long time. It's not even that I disliked them because that would suggest I had any feelings at all.

The third issue was the plot. I don't know if this was an attempt at a plot twist but it didn't work if it was. The whole thing just felt so convoluted and that's something I actually tend to enjoy in thrillers but only when the rest of the book delivers. This did not.

If you want an easy, run-of-the-mill thriller to read on a day off then, sure, pick this up. Otherwise, save yourself and go in search of something better. Authors can and have written ridiculous while still writing well. Jake Cross got the ridiculous part down but the writing? Not for me.

Thanks to Bookouture and NetGalley for providing me with a copy for review.

A daughter you never knew you had, is she really your daughter. family rift, paternity questions, drama.

SO predictable and really not that believable either at the same time.

I didn't love this one

Unfortunately I didn't really enjoy this book. I found it rather boring and slightly predictable. I probably would not recommend it

First of all the synopsis got me hooked. I had such high hopes. Unfortunately it left me feeling a little flat. I like the writing style and how it had short chapters. Parts of the story were not believable so I was a bit disappointed. I liked it but I didnt love it.

Thank you to the publisher for providing me an ARC *

Predictable plot. Dragging dialogues. Makes-me-wanna-punch-a-wall-awful characters. This was SOOO frustrating to read. I could barely tolerate the BS coming out of every character’s mouth. Excuses after excuses. Stupid analogies and unbelievable scenarios. UGH

Katie shows up claiming to be the daughter of Chris, who had a one night stand with her mom. Like any smart person he agrees to a paternity test. While waiting for the test results to come back an avalanche of crazy seemed to happen causing my head to spin. Katie begins by telling lies about how she got burn scars and other various parts of her life, a friend of Chris' daughter, Julia, gets attacked, a coworker of Chris' gets murdered, there's a guy that may be after Katie and so much more. I think there was too much packed into one book.

Not only did I find it hard to keep up with, but I also couldn't stand any of the characters. Rose came off as a control freak and a horrible wife, Chris had no balls, Julia was boring and Katie, well.....she was just annoying.

Loved this book. Plenty of devious surprises and crackling suspense, along with interesting characters. Just the sort of book to cause a lack of sleep, but I won't complain! Highly recommended.

This book was not easy to get into. I stuck with it to the end, but found it a chore to finish. Unfortunately, it was predictable in places and this made me lose interest. It took me weeks to finish, which really isn't like me. I won't recommend it.
