Her Rough Ride is the second book in Heather Van Fleet’s Red Dragon MC series, and this is not a series I would recommend reading the stories as standalones, as there’s a certain timeline and the characters are interconnected. This story has a lot of sexual tension, with angst and sarcastic dialogue to fuel the chemical fire. Maya and Slade each have their own unique issues, but the relationship that forms is strong and believable. Interesting world building, a good plot and intense character portrayals make for a gripping read. I’m hoping that Archer’s story is coming soon.

Once again, Heather Van Fleet does a great job of bringing the Red Dragons MC to life. I really like her take on the MC life, giving readers a glimpse into a club that's changing guards in the midst of a war. It's a new-look MC romance and I love that Van Fleet chose to tackle it.

I fell in love with Sebastian, the starry-eyed boy who loved mythology that turned into the scary Red Dragons' road captain, Slade. He's everything I look for in a MC hero: alpha to the core and a guy that falls in love with the same hardcore gusto he lives his life. Maya broke his heart eight years ago and while he never wants to see her again, he knows his heart is still hers as soon as he does.

This second chance romance sizzles from the moment Maya comes face to face again with Slade. While I couldn't understand how Maya didn't recognize that Sebastian and Slade were one and the same, it didn't keep their chemistry from heating up the pages.

Just like book one in the series, Her Rough Ride is part road trip romance. Snowstorms, grounded planes, cars in ditches, and broken down trains all play into their trek from California to Illinois, forcing Maya and Slade into confronting their feelings as they're stuck with each other. Though I did find myself questioning some of Slade's decisions across the miles, it did help bring them together.

Things with the rogue Red Dragons were just starting in book one, but really heat up in Her Rough Ride, including some gasp out loud moments. All the characters from book one are back, strengthening the connections I found with them in Her Wild Ride.

I look forward to more in this series!

Hard to get into and struggled with the game of who he was.

I voluntarily read an advanced copy.

The second book in the Red Dragon MC’s, Her Rough Ride, brings us the story of Spade and Maya. Well delivered character with an intriguing story and believable chemistry. I really enjoyed this story and the characters and look forward to reading more by this author.

While I liked the concept of this story, I didn’t really connect with the characters. Their relationship was tense from the beginning and never really fixed itself. I was also frequently irritated by them pushing each other away every other scene, along with other behaviors. I am sad to say that the relationship between these two never clicked for me and I can’t envision a good HEA for them.

Maya is a girl on the run. She leaves the biker life and does not look back. Slide is one bad dude, but he hasn’t always been. He used to be Sebastian, and young, soft, caring intellectual whose heart was broken by Maya. When Slade is tasked to bring Maya back because of safety reasons, these two have to figure out what went wrong I their youth and see if they can make it right.

A sizzler, the descriptions do it justice and I’m so happy I love a steamy read, full of chemistry and this book is packed with it. I loved the characters , I’m a sucker for a soft hearted MC alpha male, I loved the fact it’s also second chance kinda, it’s just a great fast paced and addictive read that I highly recommend

I have never read this author before, so I was unsure what to expect. But, this book was so good, the chemistry between these two was amazing. I really liked the story and how well written this book was.

This is part 2 in the Red Dragons's Motor Club series. In the first book, the author introduced us  to some of the main members and we were able to follow Hawk in particular.

Now the MC is back and this time the spotlight is on Slade with all his ups and downs.

Members of an MC are often seen as rough and brutal, but a lot of them also have a soft side they keep hidden and only show it to those close to their hearts. Well, that is when they can put their stubbornness aside of course. Is it obstinacy though or is it more a question of protecting those they love by keeping their true feelings under lock and key?

Sometimes you just have to take a leap of fate and just go for it.

A beautiful love story with a peek behind the scenes of a MC.

I, for sure, am looking forward to what the future has in store for the bikers. 5 stars.

Thank you, Heather Van Fleet and Bookouture (via Netgalley).

**I received a copy of Her Rough Ride from Bookouture and Net Galley in exchange for a voluntary and honest review. My opinions were not solicited in any way.**

Her Rough Ride by Heather Van Fleet is the second book in her Red Dragon MC Series. I highly recommend reading the first book as many of the character are also in here. This is Slade (Sebastian) and Maya's story. They will fight the attraction they feel for each other from California to Illinois while trying to keep alive.

Maya has been fired and evicted all in one day and a hang over doesn't help but when her Uncle Flick sends Slade to bring her home as there's trouble brewing with the Red Dragons. But first she asks him to strip in the hall to prove he's a RD (Tattoo) but first they have to deal with snow (Plane. Train and Car) and a rogue Biker out to kill them. Don't worry Maya takes care of him even with her bum knee. There will be a tragic loss but can she finally admit that Slade is her soulmate?

Sebastian was in love with Maya years when she ask him to tell her story so that her nightmares wouldn't come but she leaves him one night and he reinvents himself as Slade. He patches into the Red Dragon's and tries to forget Maya his first love. But first he has to convince Maya to come home all while watching out for rogue bikers willing to work with Pops and her dad. Yes, they'll bicker with each other and deny that its love they're feeling but will Slade finally win her love?

Oh, the feelings this book brought out in me! I can't convey to you how much I enjoy stories of childhood love that ended and then later is rekindled when the teenagers become adults. There is so much history, so much heartbreak, misunderstandings, and a yearning that has lasted for years. As you can imagine, it makes for a very steamy romance with all kinds of emotion and makeup sex. Yup, I said it. Makeup sex. This is my first book by this author, so I wasn't sure what to expect when she put a Sizzler Alert on her NetGalley posting. I thought, oh boy, this could end of being more about the sex than romance (which isn't usually my cup of tea), or this could be exactly what I need right now. And guess what? It was exactly what I needed a right now. The exact right combination of romance and lust. Bring it on.

There once as a boy named Sebastian and a girl named Maya, both of whom secretly loved each other. But neither felt they were good enough for the other, and in a moment of anger, a stupid mistake tore them apart forever. Eight years later, Sebastian is dead. Now there is only Slade, the road captain of the Red Dragon MC, who only has hatred for the girl who once held his heart in her hands. When his leader orders him to go pick her up and bring her to their base for safekeeping, it's the last thing he wants to do. But she is in danger, and if Slade has one weakness, it's knowing innocent people's lives are at stake. He may hate Maya, but she doesn't deserve to die. When they finally meet, Slade is both relieved and annoyed to see that Maya has no idea who he is. She doesn't recognize him. And Maya is just as tempting now as she was back then, even more so now that she is in the dark about who he is. It's too late for them though...or is it?

The history between these two is so intense...and also annoying, because there is SO. MUCH. miscommunication between them. If Slade would only tell her the truth, if Maya would only confess her feelings, if they would both just apologize to each other...but no, that would be too easy. This book is full of angst, and if that's your catnip, congratulations! I love angst personally, and this hit the spot with the right amount to keep me really wanting more. I found myself reading this book late into the night, waiting to find out when they would just tell each other how they feel. I was rooting so hard for this relationship to work, you would have thought I was emotionally invested. Which I wasn't, of course...*cough*...Slade was a tough guy with a soft heart, and Maya still loved him, even after all these years. It was so hard watching them clash, knowing that they loved each other so fiercely and completely. Yes, Slade made a giant mistake, and Maya made some poor choices, but at the end of the day, it all came down to whether they could learn to forgive and move forward with a life together.

Intriguing, captivating, and engaging! All words to describe Heather Van Fleet's latest book. I can't wait to see what she writes next!

How could I not love Sebastian. Such a tortured soul, but yet so sweet. Maya is strong but stubborn. She has to learn to trust and rely others.
Her Rough Ride, is a great addition to this series.

Slade and Maya have a history. At one time they were really close, but Maya couldn't live the lifestyle of the MC and left for California. Now she needs to come back to her family, because she's in danger from the MC club run by her father. There is only one man who can safely bring her back, Slade. Things start going wrong soon after they leave California. Instead of just kidnapping her, now they want her dead. Can Slade and Maya get through the anger and find forgiveness to be together? Not a hard core MC book, but an interesting love story.

Fast reading, action packed.
Maya was looking for freedom and left both her mother and the club to start a new life in California. She also left a piece of her heart behind with young Sebastian, whom she had secretly fallen in love with.
Fast forward 8 years and Slade, AKA Sebastian, is sent to bring Maya home when a threat is made and the RDs want to keep her safe.
Maya and Slade are destined to reconnect, but there are numerous obstacles and challenges they must face and overcome if their love has any hope of working out.
This is a great Motorcycle Club book. It is second in the series, but can be read independently. Great characters and a plot filled with action, betrayal, lies/truths, and of course love and sex.

A very well written story. It is book 2 in a series but it can be read as a stand alone. The characters were well developed and easy to connect with. The story had a flow that was easy to follow and you didn't want to put the book down. Was definitely a hot and sexy romance book.

This is book 2 in the Red Dragons MC series. It was entertaining, but I did not enjoy it as much as the first book in the series.
The plot had similarities to the first book... I was hoping for something very different from the first book.
Thank you NetGalley and the publisher.

After finishing the first book in this series, I KNEW that this was going to be one I had to keep an eye out for. I'm sooooooo happy I was persistent, because this second book DID NOT DISAPPOINT!!!!

First let me start by saying that although this is the second installment, it "could" be read as a standalone, but I don't recommend it. There are a few times that knowing the history actually helps with following the story line.

Maya left the Red Dragon's and her mother a long time again. Once she realized that living outside the club meant freedom, she moved to California and never looked back. In fact, she rarely even spoke with her mom. But after getting hit with the double middle finger (losing her job and apartment on the same day), maybe contacting her mom isn't such a bad idea....

Sebastian is dead. Ok, a little dramatic. Sebastian, the young skinny kid who fell in love with a girl who didn't want him is dead. He's now known as Slade and is one of the top dogs within the Red Dragon's MC. Now that the club has to watch their backs due to some backlash, the President of the club (also a father figure to Slade) is sending him to California to bring the President's niece home for safety. Too bad that's the last person on earth he wants to see. Because it means that Sebastian may not be so dead after all.

Without giving too much away, this book has pretty much everything you'll need in a MC book. Anticipation, lust, lie, betrayal and of course, the romance. This author does an amazing job at pulling us in and falling for each and every character within the book. Even the bad guys. I was so engrossed with this book, that I literally did NOT put it down. And I can't wait for the next one!!!!

This is the second Red Dragon MC book in the series and the second that I have read. It works as a standalone novel, but this is a series where the previous (and future I assume) characters do feature in some capacity in all of the books.
This time the story focuses on Maya, who has left the world of Motorcycle clubs behind but is in danger. Her uncle wants her to come home for her own safety after the Red Dragon's come under threat from an ex-member and rival club. Slade, a man she had known well before he became a Red Dragon and changed his name is tasked with bringing her home. There's huge chemistry between them, but she doesn't recognise him from before.
The chemistry between the two main characters was good. I thought that Slade/Sebastian was a bit overbearing at times and needed to get over himself a bit, but Maya gave as good as she got. They seemed to be well-matched and I liked the romance that developed between them.
As I mentioned at the start, this does work as a stand-alone novel, but there is an over-arcing storyline that ties the books together. Clearly, there is more to come for the Red Dragon's based on the events in this book and while our main characters do get their happily ever after, things are far from all rosy for the Red Dragons.
I really enjoyed this instalment of the series and would be keen to read the next. I'm not sure as yet who it is likely to feature as there are a couple of candidates, but I think it might possibly be Archer.
I received a complimentary copy of this book through NetGalley. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
