This series just keeps getting better and better. I loved the first book in this series, Never Let Go, but I think this one might have been ever better. This book was so well written, I was hooked from page one and did not want to put it down. The twists and turns kept me guessing throughout the story.
I loved Harper and Heath so much. Their chemistry was so strong. I loved how well they complimented each other and make each other better and stronger. They both had issues to overcome but with their faith, they were able to do so.
I highly recommend this book to anyone! Though this is the second book in the Uncommon Justice series, it can be read as a standalone. However, the first book is amazing as well, so you won't want to miss it.

Always Look Twice
(Uncommon Justice, 2)
‘She focused her camera on the killer, taking a kill shot of her own.

This was just a really good book. I thoroughly enjoyed it. Elizabeth Goddard continues her Uncommon Justice series with this second book. Harper Reynolds is on a sabbatical from her job as a crime scene photographer after the stresses of the job got to her. She finds that photographing nature brings her peace, but then she looks through her lens and sees a woman murdered. She runs but loses her camera and hurts herself in the process.
Heath McKade, volunteer deputy in the county and owner of a guest ranch house, hears the shot and rides into the area, and is surprised to see Harper, who grew up in the area, but left as a child. Together, they try to figure out what happened and maybe, just maybe can build a life together. However, there is absolutely no evidence that a crime was committed. But soon, danger finds them both, explosive danger.
Goddard hits the ground running with this one and holds the reader’s interest throughout. Her characters are particularly well fleshed out and her descriptions of the locations made me want to visit Wyoming! I was completely vested in this book. I highly recommend it. I can’t wait for the next book in the series.

*My thanks to Revell Publishing for a copy of this book via Net Galley. The opinion stated here are entirely my own.

“You're a survivor Harper. That's nothing to feel guilty about.” Heath's words drifted back to her. He was right. She should stop feeling guilty and do something this time about the murder she witnessed.

Crippled by a fearful past that lead to her become a crime scene photographer, Harper Reynolds takes the advice of her therapist and travels with her sister to Bridger-Teton National Forest to photograph peaceful nature scenes. As the book description says, she inadvertently captures a murder taking place right in front of her. Running for her life and losing her camera, how can she prove to skeptical sheriff's department that she did indeed witness a crime? With the help of former childhood friend, Heath McKade as a reserve deputy, they set out to prove her right and devise to capture the real killer in his own trap.

A definite page turner for me! But then again, any story written by Elizabeth Goddard is one I know I won't be able to easily put down. Plenty of heart-pounding action and fast paced scenes in Always Look Twice! She certainly knows how to balance suspense & romance, culminating in a story that both keeps your interest, and keeps you guessing. I think the ending was my favorite out of the whole book, a surprising plot twist that I had no idea was coming! I also enjoyed meeting Liam, the elusive missing brother from book one. He's been a bit of a mystery character, and I certainly can't wait to read his story next! Both Heath and Harper have a common childhood tragedy that bonded them together and sealed their friendship years ago. Strong feelings are still alive, but much more mature as they fight the attraction sizzling under the surface. And until they can catch the killer after both Harper and her sister Emily, they don't have the freedom to explore those feelings. I enjoyed watching it play out in front of me and I loved all the twists and turns that kept me off balance until the highly explosive ending! Always Look Twice was the whole package deal for me, suspense to keep me on my toes, romance to warm my heart, faith to keep me grounded, and strong family ties to get through anything. Another definite winner in my book....pun intended!

That mountain is so big (Grand Teton), and as a kid anyway, it made me think of God. And I used to think that if I was that mountain, nothing could move me or scare me. Nothing could hurt me. Now I think I'm finally getting it. God is like that mountain for us and we can hold on to Him. ~Harper to Heath.

Romantic suspense novels must have non-stop action with death knocking on the heroine and the heroes door with a budding romance between the two. With Always Look Twice by Elizabeth Goddard, her story does definitely that. From the first chapter, I was thrown into a hair raising situation with Harper and wanted to know how the man behind the shotgun was too. Throughout the entire novel, Goddard did a fabulous job at tightening the noose around Harper's neck. Even so far as to have the police suspect her for a moment. As for the romance, it grew from childhood friendship into something deeper, which is completely predictable for this genre. There wasn't much spiritual elements to the characters. It was a hit or miss moments. Not really that important to the characters or the plot. A little disappointing. I wanted them to have a deeper faith and transform by the end of the novel. As for character's transformation, there really wasn't any. When you meet Harper and Heath at the beginning of the novel, they stay the same by the end of the book. Overall, Elizabeth Goddard crafted a high tension, flowering romance , but the characters really didn't have that deep change moment from their dark moment. Fans of Irene Hannon, DiAnn Mills, and Colleen Coble might enjoy adding this novel to their forever shelves.

Harper Reynolds, crime scene photographer, needed a break so she took a vacation with her sister Emily. While out shooting nature scenes, she sees and records the murder of a young woman. Hoping to get justice for this unknown woman, Harper is seen by the shooter and runs. Although falling and losing her camera, she reports the crime to the sheriff, but no body is found and her camera is missing. Her former childhood friend Heath McKade, former Green Beret and owner of Emerald M Guest Ranch, now assists the sheriff when needed. He and Harper put aside their growing attraction while trying to keep her safe and find the killer. I received an advance review copy at no cost and without obligation for an honest review. Both of the main characters in this book, Harper and Heath are trying to heal from past events in their lives. They both are very likeable and compassionate characters. Their relationship is rather predictable but sweet. I found that the suspect was easily identified after a few clues but was interesting to connect all the dots. Even though this is the second book of the series, it can be read as a stand alone. Recommended.

A day of enjoying nature and taking photographs leads to danger, mystery and the hunt for a killer. Action fills every page of this book. Surprises happen along the way and clues to solve the mystery are varied from moment to moment. Great read. I received a complimentary copy of this book. No review was required.

This book took me a little bit to get into, because I was trying to remember the previous book and those players, but once I got into it, I couldn't put it down! The mystery was very unpredictable! There were times I wanted to slap the Sheriff on Harper's behalf. I loved this book! My only complaint was that it wasn't longer! I didn't want it to end!!

Always Look Twice, the second installment in author Elizabeth Goddard’s Uncommon Justice series, is an action-packed romantic suspense novel filled with unpredictable plot twists and well-written characters. Even though it is the second book in the series, Always Look Twice can easily be read as a stand-alone novel.

While photographing nature scenes in Bridger-Teton National Forest in Wyoming, Harper Reynolds unexpectedly captures a murder on camera. She finds herself the killer’s next target while false accusations threaten to derail the investigation. Her childhood friend, deputy Heath McKade, is assigned to protect her, as they frantically search for the killer before he strikes again.

All the clues dropped throughout the novel came together for a satisfying ending. I was able to determine the culprit fairly quickly after the character was introduced, although I began to doubt myself several times as the storyline progressed and various clues seemed to point to another character. I was still shocked at the plot twist toward the end of the novel. That’s what I love about Elizabeth Goddard’s writing…even when I think I have everything figured out, she still manages to surprise me with her unexpected plot twists.

Readers will enjoy the return to the Emerald M Guest Ranch and the opportunity to meet Heath and Austin’s brother Liam McKade, who will have his story told in book 3 of the Uncommon Justice series.

I received a complimentary copy of this book from Revell and was not required to write a positive review. All opinions expressed are mine.

Childhood friends reconnect in “Always Look Twice”, by Elizabeth Goddard (Revell), a romantic suspense story with more action and twists and turns than romance.
Heath and Harper are great characters, who share a strong, beautiful connection dating from childhood and realize when they meet again that they’re still “kindred spirits”. They’re both been broken and damaged by traumatic events in their lives and find healing with each other; Heath’s desire to shield and please Harper, still haunted by homicide survivor’s guild, gives him an endearing Beta touch. Heath himself has to deal with his own feelings of misery.
In the beginning I was immediately drawn in by the tension -filled events but later I felt the story was a bit scattered and convoluted and could have ended earlier. Some police methods and procedures and actions by law enforcement characters seemed a bit questionable.
Unfortunately, I thought there may have been a little too much suspense and not enough romance; because the displays of affection by both Heath and Harper showed caring and kind people whose connection though always come second to the action.

I absolutely love this book. Harper is a strong character that overcomes a lot, and Heath is there to help. Both strong characters. I recommend this book to everyone to read

Completely sucked in by the end of the first chapter. I have long wanted to read this book after reading the first book in the uncommon justice series. The author creates an air of suspense right off the bat that leaves you not wanting to put the book down until it is completed.

I read this book in one sitting. This book is second in a series but can be read without reading the first. The characters make you feel like you are with them during each moment.

I can’t wait to see what is next in this series from this author.

Thank you so much to the publisher and to netgalley for allowing me to read an advanced copy of this book. All opinions are my own.

Wow! What a fantastic read! Always Look Twice will keep you on the edge of your seat thru all the twists and turns in the plot. As sisters Harper and Emily return to their hometown for relaxation and closure to earlier nightmares in their lives, they become ensnared in a series of murders and bombings. As Harper reconnects with childhood friend Heath, the intensity of the unsolved murders and bombings kick into high gear. This fast-paced suspense will keep you guessing until the very end. Although this is book 2 in the series, it is also easily read as a standalone novel. Great read!

This is listed as a religious romantic suspense but it is mostly romantic suspense. This book was slow in places but I enjoyed reading it. Lots of suspense through out the story and well developed characters
