I enjoyed reading this book it kept my attention and I couldn’t wait to see what happened next. The characters were great, the plot was interesting and the style of writing was perfect. I don’t normally read books with diary entries in it but this book was different and kept me reading. However the ending didn’t really satisfy me, I felt it was a little bit rushed. The first book I have read by this author and I’ll be keeping my eye out for in the future.
Thank you netgalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read this book in exchange for a honest review.

"To everyone else, I had it all: the handsome husband, prestigious apartment, successful career, and the designer clothes. What they don't know is, I'm the saddest person I know."

Sophie seems to have it all. But in reality she is a woman in her late thirties, unable to give her husband children, with a drinking problem. Her life is far from perfect. After a night out, she wakes up covered in bruises and unable to remember anything. She soon starts having an affair with a man sixteen years younger than her
Pretty soon her life starts falling apart, but now everyone else can see it.
The story is written in diary form, from Sophie's point of view. We find out about her troubles, how she feels about her life... and then we get to read her thoughts as she struggles to piece together what happened to her on her night out. It spans from January to November, and what a wild ride it all was.
I enjoyed this one a lot. There was a lot of mystery and I certainly didn't see a lot of it coming, which was great.

This book was different than what I normally read in that it didn't really have chapters but there were diary entries. I actually loved how it was written. Just small encounters in her daily life written as if it's happening in real time. It made reading the book so much easier. I've never read any other books by this author but I would love to check out some more of their books.

There are lots of twists and turns and suprises in this book. The narrative is told by Sophie through her journal. This book grabbed me from the first page. Just keep in mind this is not chapters but journal entries. Pay attention so you dont lose what is going on. Its also a story about addiction.

This one was an easy read. It was a story with twists but not on the scale of your average thriller. Definitely worth a try

Sophie Knight seems to have it all, the perfect marriage, money and friends. Sometimes though, nothing is as it seems. Secretly Sophie is very unhappy, after suffering two devastating miscarriages she has become a shell of her former self. She is an alcoholic who chain smokes and hides her feelings as such.

One night she goes out with her best friend Sylvie, after getting black out drunk and with no knowledge of what happened to her she wakes up bruised, bloody with a torn soiled dress. She knows something bad happened but can’t quite remember what.

In her search for answers she finds Michael. He is everything she has lusted for. He’s handsome and dangerous and the chemistry is undeniable. What begins as a passionate affair ends in murder and more unanswered questions.

What really did happen that night? And who killed Sophie’s husband?

This story is written in diary entry form which I didn’t mind. It was different. It was interesting but got a tad repetitive in my opinion. I found myself not really liking the main character, which made it difficult. The premise was very interesting but for me unfortunately it just didn’t hit the mark.

📘MY REVIEW📕
This story is told through Sophie's eyes only as she writes in her diary. First off if you are going to write a book that is suppose to be written in diary format, write it like a diary. It was so clearly written just like any other book not in the character’s voice to her diary. The book was not interesting, and did not grab me at all. Another thing that took away from it was errors. There WAS way too many of them !This was suppose to be a really dark psychological thriller but it wasn’t thrilling at all. All Sophie did was act like a very spoiled child and drink. The storyline never seemed realistic at all. I also failed to connect with any of the characters at all. I was really intrigued by the description of the book, but the more I read, the worse it got. Even books I give bad reviews I try and point out a few good things I did like about it. However with this one ,there was not one thing I did like about it. Sorry but I can NOT recommend this book. If I could give it 0 stars I would. Many thanks to the Publisher , the Author , and NetGalley for a ARC copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

In this story we get it from Sophie's perspective, In Her Words! I thought that this was a very riveting psychological thriller that will keep you turning the pages faster and faster. I think J.S. Ellis does a good job with this one even though the story sort of took a lull for me at some places. It did pick back up though and I was glad I stuck with it.

Sophie's husband has had a heart attack and is ok as long as he takes his medicine. Now Sophie feels like she is more of a caretaker than a wife. The relationship between her and her husband is just not there anymore for Sophie. It doesn't help that has a fling going on on the side. Sophie also has an addiction to smoking and alcohol.

Sophie has been receiving these notes from someone saying that they know what she is doing with her fling. Sophie tries to break it off with him but she just keeps going back to him like all of her other addictions. Sophie can feel eyes on her and knows that someone is watching her. What is she going to do? Will she be able to hide her little escapades or will it be too late?

Just be ready for this book to mess with your mind. Sophie will lead you on one wild ride with her.

I voluntarily read and reviewed this book. All opinions are my own. Thanks to Netgalley, the publisher and the author for an advanced copy of this book.

Sophie needs a night out and heads to a club with her girlfriend. She wakes the next morning with a ripped dress, covered in bruises and no memory of what happened....
Sophie drinks...a lot. She didn’t used to however an unhappy marriage and being left alone while her husband travels for work she drinks her way through her boring days.
After the night out which she has no recollection of Sophie becomes obsessed with a young man that she believes has the truth about what happened to her, and she won’t give up until she discovers it.
A satisfying thriller which, apart from being a little tedious and frustrating at times, was enjoyable over all.

What a thrill ride. So completely thrilling, chilling, and at times completely unputdownable. I found it to be disturbing at times; which made me love it even more. Highly recommend!!

In Her Words by J.S. Ellis is an intense and interesting thriller, written in a style of diary entries. I loved the plot with its dark themes and the flawed, unpersonable characters, all of whom added their own dimensions to the story. Lots of twists and turns in this book left me with no clue as to how things would be resolved. While it does reach a conclusion, there were aspects left open for the reader’s imagination, leaving me thinking about Sophie and this story long after I’d finished reading.

I’m hugely impressed that this is a début novel as the author has crafted a story that has been done before, but it was cleverly executed in a way that felt unique to me. You’ll want to read this one if you enjoy women’s fiction with a soupçon of crime-thriller.

I received a complimentary digital copy of this novel, at my own request, from Black Cat Ink Press via NetGalley. This review is my own unbiased opinion.

This book! It had me on the edge of my seat. You have a love hate relationship with her because she has a seemingly perfect life but drinks herself away and does things to mess it up. There were so many twists and turns and I definitely recommend this psychological thriller. Thanks NetGalley.

This book is written in the style of a diary and it works well to carry suspense and intrigue through it.
This book is well written and the characters are almost visual in their descriptions.
Not easily guessable which is always a good sign with a thriller such as this.
Highly enjoyable and compulsive reading.
Looking forward to more from this author.
Many thanks to publisher and NetGalley for letting me read in return for review.

When a woman wakes up she finds herself in a compromising position - bruises, aches, and total memory loss. She has a good life, but she has a secrret. No one knows she can't stop drinking. She meets a younger man, and this affair will be an addiction that she may find harder to kick than the booze.
Written in first person from a diary perspective, a solid drama that had some surprises and unexpected turn of events.
3 stars.

In her words really captivated me I loved the style of the writing in this book from a viewpoint of the characters journal it really had a good build up and I enjoyed the anticipation of it.

I could see where this book was going at one key point, which made the remainder of the book a little boring.
Too much build up for me, with a lacklustre finish.
I won't be in a hurry to read another book by this author
