Ever seen Texts from the Dog? I don't think they ever made a book of those. Hysterical stuff.
I expected something similar. Grumpy Cat and Garfield get their hands on a phone.
Wow.
Wow wow wow.
Was this not that.

Seriously, this is painfully unfunny.
"The Internet’s favorite text-happy cat is back at it - with a little help from his friends.
Follow along with Mittens as he enjoys hilarious, snark-filled text volleys with his cast of quirky friends and family: Earl (the “filthy hound”), Stumpy (the best friend), Drunky Patty (the usually tipsy next-door neighbor), Grandma (giver of treats), and Fiona (Mitty’s girlfriend). Based on Angie Bailey’s virally popular blog, Texts from Mittens: The Friends and Family Edition is feline humor at its finest."
A book I'm SO excited to read! And why am I excited to read it? Not just cat snark, oh no, it's because I got a digital ARC through NetGalley and they archived it before they said they would and I didn't get to read it!
I was not aware that this book would not be available to view in Kindle format. Based on other reviews and blurbs, I believe that I would have found it amusing. Unfo, because it is not yet available on Kindke, I am staying neutral and giving the book three stars.
I am not a cat person, so that may be why I didn’t like this book. I have seen others post about how funny it was, and I was just board and felt like it was missing a lot of things. The entire book is texts from Mittens the cat to various people. If it was one continuous story I might have liked it better, but it seems to be vignettes with no overarching story line behind this cat is an a$$.
Thank you to Andrews McNeel Publishing for a digital edition via NetGalley of Angie Bailey’s ‘Texts From Mittens: Friends and Family Edition’ in exchange for an honest review.
We all can acknowledge that the Internet is basically ruled by cats. I follow many on social media though I hadn’t heard of Mittens before spying this but now I am hooked!
It’s a very simple concept- Mittens is a cat with a phone. He enjoys texting with his Mum, Grandma, his best friend and girlfriend among others. He is a master of the snarky text.
This was a great deal of fun. It made me laugh - a lot. I enjoyed it enough to order a copy of her first book, ‘Texts From Mittens: A Cat Who Has an Unlimited Data Plan ....and Isn’t Afraid to Use It’.
It is the kind of book to dip into in order to raise your spirits. Recommended for cat lovers and as an ideal gift for the same.
Texts from Mittens: The Friends and Family Edition by Angie Bailey is currently scheduled for release on September 3 2019. This book follow along with Mittens as he enjoys hilarious, snark-filled text volleys with his cast of quirky friends and family: Earl (the “filthy hound”), Stumpy (the best friend), Drunky Patty (the usually tipsy next-door neighbor), Grandma (giver of treats), and Fiona (Mitty’s girlfriend). It is based on Angie Bailey’s virally popular blog.
Texts from Mittens is a cute collection of texts that imagine what a cat might text to his friends and family. I have never seen Bailey's blog, so this whole thing was new to me, although I have seen various twitter and facebook accounts that post from the imagned mindset of the pet. I found the texts to be entertaining and, as a cat servent myself, sometimes relatable. I never really laughed out loud or did more than smile as to the antics of Mittens and crew. However, I did find it amusing and a entertaining distraction in the midst of a heat wave.
Texts from Mittens is a good book to flip through and entertain yourself with for awhile.
Texts from Mittens is based on a cute premise -- what if our pets could communicate with us via text? What would they say to us? Mittens' primary concerns are, of course, about his creature comforts, such as when his next meal or snack time is, and replenishing his toy stash as they disappear after getting batted under the furniture. While not hilariously funny, this book has its moments for pet lovers who are familiar with cattitude.
Great book for cat lovers!!! This book is good for so laugh out loud moments as well as it is a quick read. This is one that you will read again and again.
Thank you Andrew McMeel Publishing and NetGalley for the opportunity to read this book.
I found this collection of cat "texts" to be pretty underwhelming. A few of them got a chuckle out of me, but no side-splitting laughs. Cute and mildly amusing; didn't feel like I wasted my time, but I wouldn't go out of my way to read it and I probably wouldn't buy it either.
I was given a free copy of this ebook from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
😒 I can't get my time back.
The concept is good, but it was just overwhelming at times, and then other times it was confusing. I didn't find it funny at all. I usually like things like this online, this just didn't do it for me. Perhaps a real cat lover might find this interesting.
This is my honest opinion.
Rating 1 (for effort)
I received this arc from NetGalley for an honest review. If you have cats you will be able to relate to this book. Mittens send a text to his mother, brother the neighbor and more. This is a quick and humorous read.
I received a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review. Thank you NetGalley.
adorable book. i'm bummed it isn't avialable as a kindle download though.
First up, thanks for allowing me to read this book!
Secondly, we just didn't go together, sadly. I think this is one of those books were it is fun if you are seeing it online, just one or two every week or so, but it just didn't work for me in the book form. I quickly tired of the texts and especially of the conversations, they were just bland. I didn't like Mittens at all. He was just annoying.
So adorable!!! Anyone who loves cats is going to love this book. Reminds me of Garfield in a way, but more modern times. Funny autocorrect responses! Loved it!!!
I very rarely give up on reading a book of any sort. I hate stopping a book that I start and this was one of those rare few, unfortunately.
There was quite literally no part of this book that was entertaining. I was bored (and honestly? I truly love these sorts of things). I hate being so critical of an author's work but there are no pictures, nothing funny. It's confusing a lot of times, there's no connection with any of the characters and there are SO many pages of this. I think I smiled once or twice? I'm clearly the odd one out here as there are so many good reviews. I think this book does have potential to be funnier so hopefully there's a little more creativity put into the next one, if there is a next one.
I think what would've been hilarious would've been putting faces to each page, adding memes in the texts. Selfies, stuff like that. Adding more context instead of just random snippets.
Well, I'm glad others liked it so much. I personally cannot recommend this one. To anyone. I'm sorry.
Perhaps I'm not the target for this book, I just didn't get the humor. Mittens has exchanged with both humans and other cats.
Texts from Mittens The Friends and Family Edition by Angie Bailey is a book I requested from NetGalley and the review is voluntary. First I have to say I put this book in my favorites folder in Goodreads! It is hilarious!
Tips for reading this book: Don't drink any beverages you don't want coming back up through your nose! I found out the hard way.
This book is a non-stop giggle fest especially if you have cats and dogs. Everything you have ever thought cats might be thinking, Mittens takes it a few steps further and funnier! The way everything is phased is perect! I read the book twice and giggled both times! This is the funniest book I have read this year so far! Love it!!
I want to get my family and friends a book for Christmas! Birthdays!
Groundhog Day! Lol!
A must read joy!
I liked the concept of a cat sending texts to his owner, but I just didn't find it funny. My full review appears on Weekend Notes.
Kids would find this funny. It is a random text exchange between a cat Mittens and all of his family and friends.
This was a super cute, quick book! I have two cats myself. It was funny to think about what texts my own cats would be sending me.
