This was a cute book about the life of Mittens told through texts. I didn't find it laugh out loud funny, but having cats, I did find it amusing. Appropriate for children and adults alike.

This is a brilliant book to give as a gift. It’s funny and has effective storytelling with recurring characters.

Ah, I wanted to like this one. Alas, I didn't find much humor here and I love cats, especially snarky cats. This is a collection of text convos between Mittens and various family and friends. I just wish it had been funnier.

Thank you to Andrews McMeel Publishing and NetGalley for the eARC in exchange for my honest review.

Humour-free zone of nested text messages from a cat to his friends, girlfriend, human family and suchlike. Only turn to this if you have seen every comedy cat in a box video online and want to read about the same thing. You still won't find this funny, but you'll show how desperate the person that finishes this tripe would be.

It’s slightly embarrassing to admit that liked this book. #imasuckerforcatjokes. I was expecting a kids book from the looks of the cover. I was expecting some cat illustrations. Newp. Instead, I got humorous cat texts. If you like word humor, goofy autocorrected conversations, and pretentious felines, this book is for you. Some important things confirmed to me by reading this book: grandmas are pushovers, cats like potty humor, cats are arrogant, but more than willing to cave when they want something, and a whole slew of other well known facts. #nothingnewhere #butsomethingsareworthrepeatinganyway.

A couple of my favorite exchanges:

This one is between Mittens and his mom:

Mittens don’t touch the loaf of bread on the counter. It’s for the dinner guests tonight,

There’s a loaf of bread on the counter? That’s certainly relative to my interests, Mother.

Paws off the bread!

I guess you can say your dinner plans have now gone A-rye. LOL.

Not funny.

This conversation is between Mittens and his friend, Stumpy:

Mitty, are you awake?
Do you care to accompany me on a midnight ‘nip run?

Stumpy, you know I can’t leave the house. Text me along the way.

Ok, but things might get a little crazy.

What do you mean?

Let’s just say I’ve done a little sampling of the merch. #qualitycontrol

I liked the concept of this, but the execution leaves something to be desired.

The humans understand and interact with the cats, dogs, and neighbors. I supposed that gives mittens people to converse with, but it isn't as funny if he was only communicating with his other cats, such as in the exchange below.

Not that funny. Just sort of nodding, rather than laughing.

And unfortunately, that was the way it was through out the book.

And I have loved cats and been around cats all my life.

But, humor is subjective, so if you think you would like this sort of thing for 154 pages, go for it.

This book reminded me of Business Cat except less funny.
The best part of this book for me was a character named Drunk Patty and other than the name she wasn't that funny either. The other characters were pretty funny as well.
The texts themselves are not connected to each other and you need to read the message to know who it was sent to which I didn't like either.
This is a perfect book to read digitally on a commute.

This was not as funny as I thought it would be. Having been a proud cat lover for years, I can say that I can relate to so many things in this book, but it was a little too long for me.

*I received this on Net Galley *

When I saw this book pop up on Net Galley, I genuinely squealed. I have been following Angie Bailey and Mittens on Facebook for quite some time and leapt at the chance to read it early. I was not disappointed!

This book follows Mittens the sassy Tuxie as he interacts with those around him such as his mom, his grandmother, the filthy hound (Earl), his next door neighbour Drunk Patty, his best friend Stumpy, and his girlfriend Fiona. Most pages are a story to themselves (through text messages) but some of them will continue for a few pages.

Mittens' obsession about being fancy and also his use of hashtags is always good for a laugh and a pick-me up. This is more of a coffee table book than a book to read all in one sitting but it is so much fun and I always enjoy the things that Mittens does. His bribery of Earl to bribe the squirrels outside was actually laugh out loud funny.

I highly recommend this to anyone that needs a good laugh and especially to everyone that loves cats.

A funny book, perfect for cat lovers. I think it should be great in paper format.
Highly recommended!

I received a free copy of this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

It's alright. There's nothing particularly funny about it but its not terrible either. I would describe it as bland.

I've never really read anything like this before and to be honest I initially read it only because of the cover. And yes, I love cats. But once I saw the idea behind this book I really started to love it. I mean who doesn't like to read snarky text comments. It's fun and there are some good ones that I laughed at. But overall I think you need to read a few pages a day and not do it like me all in one go. That just takes away the magic of it all. I'd recommend it, if you're into this type of book style and humor.

I had such high hopes for this book. I normally find these types of books witty and humorous. However I just didn’t feel this book lived up to my expectations.

It was just slow and not very interesting to me.

Great concept, just not for me.

I wish this could have been read on my kindle but that’s ok.

This is like a book you would give someone who loves cats on Xmas! A book of funny meme type things you see on Facebook

My apologies. I requested this book without realizing it would not be available in Kindle format. I'm giving this five stars because that's how I think I would have rated it, if I had been able to access it in kindle format.

This is cute. A cat texts various people/animals. A few times it was laugh out loud funny. I wish they had gone one step further to format the "phone" so it was obvious who the cat was texting by showing the names with the messages. It would have made it a bit clearer and more visually appealing, especially since they made cute little avatars for each character.

This would be perfect to leave in a waiting room for idle time--quick page-turner that can be opened at any point and understood.

I've never heard of this cat even though this says he's "the internet's favorite text-happy cat" but I love reading funny text screenshots. And because this was a cat, I was sure it was going to be great. But I was pretty disappointed with it. I got a chuckle here and there, but over all I didn't think it was all that funny. And the insane amount of hashtagging going on drove me nuts (I hate it when people hashtag everything). There were also a lot of autocorrect fails, and none of them were really that good either.

Overall, it's cute and semi-humorous. But for me, also quite forgettable.
