This is the first book in the Anyone but....series, and the story of Rich, and Kira. This was a funny, enjoyable read! 3.5 Stars

Funny and sort of cute.
But Richard was more likable than i thought he was going to be. Kira was so and so. But it was nice, anyway.

A wonderful story that will captivate your attention until the end! You’ll forget the world is going on around you as you immerse yourself in this story.

From the first paragraph I almost put this book down. The dialogue is juvenile and the dick jokes are not funny and one too many.

Them talking was a consistently cringey experience. Kira had her vulgar diatribe moments and thank goodness Rich really didn't have any. Otherwise, this book would've been a did-not-finish for sure. Cade (Rich's twin brother) made all the crude dick and or genitalia references. I don't know a business man, young or old that speaks like a silly pre-teen.

I continued on with the story because it was short and I did eventually warm up to Rich. Kira's friends are over the top as well. Each friend dated or liked one of the King brothers and the other books are their stories. I won't be continuing on. Oh, and the "use a gay person as a cover" is old and overdone everywhere.

I received an eARC from Montlake Romance

This book was amazing. It kept me so interested from the beginning and I couldn’t stop reading until I was finished. Did that bother me? No, no it did not. I love the cocky alpha enemies to lovers type trope and this story did not disappoint! Thanks to the author for an ARC of the book!

ANYONE BUT RICH by Penelope Bloom. This was an enjoyable read, as I found I smiled and chuckled quite often. However, I had a hard time making connections with the characters and the plot line. Three female friends made a pack when they were young to never fall for one of the King boys. Well, time goes by and one of the ladies cannot deny the attraction. I wasn't quite sure what they did that was so horrible to the ladies, but they were sticking to their guns (or at least trying t0). I liked the friendship of the girls - that warmed my heart. Rich is quite the serious one but his brother was full of laughs. Like I said, this book was quite amusing, but I really was hoping for a bit more in depth character development and more revelations into the relationships. I will check out future books in this series in hopes of finding those answers and seeing where everyone ends up. (received Netgalley ARC for honest review)

It took me a while to finish this book, no fault on the book though. It was a good contemporary romance with decent characters. Overall I will read more from the author.

I really enjoyed this adult book. The story and characters were entertaining and unique. This is the first in the series of 3 and am looking to read the next book of the series!

A good quirky read. I'm a fan of Penelope's - especially after the His series (so funny!!!) So I was looking forward to this...

Really liked the characters - so excited for Cade and Nick's stories!! Those guys are nuts, especially Cade!! And Iris and Miranda will definitely keep them on their toes!!

Anyway, back to Nick and Kira, quirky characters, I like that the first story is about Nick the older brother, I think you get a better insight to the brothers when you get the eldest / most sensible side? Or is that just me?

Bottom line, good enjoyable story. It's predicable but it's not about the destination, it's the journey....😊

I’ve read Penelope Bloom’s mafia standalones. I really like her writing style and I was expecting another favorite. “Anyone But Rich” might be my least favorite of hers, but I still enjoyed the story.

Kira and Rich have history. Seven years ago, he ruined her life, so she took a vow to never let him near again. Now he’s back to West Valley, as a tech billionaire and he’s still as arrogant as she remembers him. From his first day back, he barges into her life. Kira tries really hard to resist him, but he has his ways.

The story was really good. I laughed many times while reading, especially with Cade’s antics. I’m still not convinced about his intelligence! Rich’s parents were really annoying. I couldn’t stand their attitude and behavior towards those they considered less. I’m a little curious about the stories of Cade-Iris and Nick-Miranda. Maybe I’ll be checking their books as well!!

The King brothers are back in town and they aren’t going to miss out on the opportunity of getting the girls they left behind. Rich and Kira are up first and he isn’t going to give up without a fight. What he doesn’t know is that Kira and her best friends came up with a pact also, will she break that to have a chance with Rich?

Kira can’t believe the King brothers are back. She has always had a thing for Rich, but when he humiliated her in school, she made a pact with her friends never to give him a chance. The only problem is he is still as good looking now as he was back then. Will she be able to resist him or with the King charm finally work on her?

Rich is here to bring his company here, but also to get the girl. He wants Kira and he will do what he needs to for them to be a couple. But will he be able to break down her walls and find a way for her to trust him again? And when she thinks that she is going to break the pact and finally let him in will they really have a chance at love?

I could not get behind this book which is a shame because the concept sounded interesting and I love these kind of stories, but the execution was poor in my opinion. The characters felt too chardboardish for me and I did not quite care for his millions and stupid parents. I did not have time for the girl's silliness either and this just did not work for me, The plot seemed to not go anywhere and I was really confused at time of what the point was.
There was a lot of emphasis on the main character's quirkiness which made her look rather silly than endearing - i already forgot her name.

This wasn't my favorite book of Penelope Bloom's. I think the characters were well written, but the girls were a bit petty at times. this made me not like them as much. I also didn't connect with these characters in the same way I have with this author's books in the past. It was a fine book, but not my favorite.

I was excited to read this based on the description, but it fell a little flat for me. I did like the main characters, but didn't feel connected to the others. It was pretty silly at times. Overall just okay for me.

I received a copy of this book through NetGalley for an honest review.

This is the first book in a new series from this talented author, and what an amazing beginning this is!! Kira and her besties’ Miranda and Iris, made a fact years ago that they would never get involved with any of the King brothers’. Now the Kings have moved back into their hometown, and Rich is determined to convince Kira to take a chance on him. This is a well written story with witty banter throughout, and is filled with drama and is a humorous, steamy and entertaining read. I highly recommend for all, and look forward to reading more in this enticing series.

I've found after reading several of Penelope Bloom's books that I have to be in a certain mood to enjoy them. They border the line between laugh out loud funny and over the top. They are original, but at times campy and far-fetched. Sometimes, the moods strikes me for silly, but fun writing and I can enjoy it, but here I had a hard time with adult characters hanging on to their childhood selves.

Don't be fooled by the cover, to my surprise, it’s a really light-hearted book.

If you are looking for a smutty read, this is NOT your book. If you are looking for a book where it’s mainly about the main couple, this is NOT your book. This is the first book in the series and I think the author used this book as building block for the rest of the series.

romantic comedy with a touch of allusion and hyperbole, “Anyone But Rich” has so many laugh out loud funny moments that quite frankly I won’t be surprised if Saturday Night Life decide to pick up lines from it.

It’s the story of three brothers – Richard, Cade and Nick - from a small town but they came from old money. After they left, they made more money than what was in their trust funds. To the surprise of many, they decided to go back to their hometown, which irked the hell of out three women whom they left behind.

Kira, Miranda and Iris have a history with the King brothers. They left them in their wake, creating havoc to their lives. It might have been seven years ago, but they have not recovered, especially Kira who was just barely making it.

Hence, when Richard King walked back into her life expecting to be forgiven then pick up where they left off, Kira was more than annoyed. She was ready to start World War III, except that her heart had gone pitter patter. She was falling for Richard and her friends had called her a traitor and her father was more than ready to disown her once again.

To reiterate, this is a rom-com and it is a given that there is a happily ever after. But, this is not your typical rom-com because there are dinosaur bones involved and a pesky helicopter ride (that’s one of the allusion portions). There was also stealing desserts from a party and a school play in the mix.

Hilarity is not just confined to the main characters. Even the supporting ones have their funny moments. They even play the straight man at times. Nevertheless, “Anyone But Rich” is a story that will tickle your funny bone, no matter what.

“Anyone But Rich” is Rated T for Teens due to some adult situations and some sexual content.
