Kira and her friends make a pact to never date a King brother, but now their back in town and sexy as ever. Rich is looking for Kira’s forgiveness. Will she forgive him? Fast-paced, fun read with steamy chemistry, great characters and an entertaining story, that has plenty of drama and steam. I loved it!
I thought that this was a very enjoyable read and an excellent start to this new series. There is plenty of humor, witty banter and sparks flying as Kira and Rich's story unfolds. I thought that the quirky storyline just the right amount of tension, heat, emotional turmoil, drama and sweetness to capture and keep your attention. A very fun read about the struggle that can happen between your heart and your head. I eagerly look forward to future enteries in this series.
I AM LEAVING MY HONEST REVIEW FOR "ANYONE BUT RICH" OMG!!!!! Penelope Bloom you are so great at writing these amazing laugh out loud story's there absolutely delightful to read fun, exciting, lighthearted, you just keep turning page after page you can't help yourself.
The King Brothers come from old money but they leave to go to California to start up a Billion Dollar Tech Company they decide to return to their hometown to set up their headquarters.
Kira Summerland and her BF'S Miranda and Iris made a pact 7yrs ago to never date a King Brother ever again after what Rich did to Kira and just about blew apart her friendship with her BF'S they decide this was best.
Rich King shows up at Kira's classroom on the first day he's felt guilty for yrs for what he did to Kira and wants to make amends but she doesn't accept and he's more determined than ever.
This is such a terrific storyline full of meddling parents, small town gossip, very hot steamy sex scenes, with delightful fun loving characters that make this such wonderful read I definitely recommend I can't wait for the next book in this fantastic Trilogy well done "PENELOPE BOOM" your books are always a delightful read.
The first King that will occupy your mind and your panties....
Outrageously sexy and hilarious, basically the foundation of all of Penelope's fabulous books. She always manages to have a perfect - not perfect man sweep both the character and the reader up while being dirty and sweet at the same time. It's the perfect combo of a couple you want things to work out for and some of the best extra characters that you know will make the best stories in this series. Kira is sweet and relatable while Rich is more of a sexy and unexpected surprise. You want to side with the girls and hate him and his brothers, but soon realize he's had you from the start, just like Kira. One disappointment is I have to wait for the next one.
I received an advanced copy of this book from Netgalley for my honest opinion. .
Kira and her two best friends make a pact: None of them will date a King Brother.
Seven years later, the King brothers come back and stir past memories back up. The girls vow that the pact is still in place only that doesn't stop Rich from trying to apologize about what happened seven years ago with Kira.
Kira is trying to remain steadfast in her promise with her besties but Rich is slowly proving that he isn't the same boy.
So will Kira forgive him?
This book was funny and swoon-worthy. Rich's brother are hilarious in their shenanigans as is Kira's besties. Definitely one-click this book now.
Anyone But Rich
By Penelope Bloom
Seven years ago Kira and her friends Iris and Miranda made a pact in high school to stay away the the King Brothers. Seven years later Kira is a high school teacher in West Valley, North Carolina. Iris is a cop and Miranda is a business woman. They all still live in their hometown. The big news is the King Brothers are building headquarters for their multi billion dollar business in West Valley. Rich and his twin Cade and his younger brother Nick have a highly successful business Sion. When Cade and Nick wanted to build a east coast headquarters in West Valley Rich went along with it because he never forgot about one girl back home. One of the first things Rich did when e got to West Valley was to find out where Kira was and he went to see her at her school room.
I love Penelope Bloom's wit in her books. I found myself laughing out loud multiple times while reading this. Kira and her best friends had made a pact to stay away from the King brothers no matter what. When their business brings them back to town, Kira tries her hardest to keep her promise in the pact. Richard King doesn't make it easy for her though. His twin brother Cade, is hilarious and really keeps things interesting. Nick is the more shy one of the brothers. Kira's best friend Iris is also funny and has a thing with her nightstick. I can't wait for the rest of their stories.
ANYONE BUT RICH (Anyone But…Book 1) by Penelope Bloom is a new release romantic comedy/contemporary romance that had me laughing out-loud. This is the first of a trilogy featuring three billionaire brothers who return to their small hometown to claim the women they could never forget, but the girls made a promise seven years ago to never date one of the King brothers again.
Kira Summerland is starting her first year of teaching at her hometown high school. Seven years ago, Kira, Iris and Miranda made a promise when they were students at this very high school to never date a King brother again. When Richard King shows up at Kira’s classroom door on the first day of school, she is as angry at herself as she is at him.
Richard King has returned to town with his brothers. Cade and Nathan to set up their company’s headquarters in their hometown. The beautiful woman on his arm is just a ruse to keep both sets of their parents from matchmaking. He has his heart set on Kira. He knows it will be hard work to get Kira to forgive him and get her friends approval, but Rich has always worked hard to obtain his goals.
Kira must deal with her promise to her friends as she begins to let Rich back into her life. Can she have both? Will Rich be able to get Kira to forgive him and get the girl he has always wanted?
I love Rich and Kira together. Kira is the perfect lovable heroine to bring out serious Rich’s softer side. The dialogue between the friends and the brothers is laugh-out-loud funny and at times raunchy which made it more realistic. The sex scenes are explicit but not gratuitous. Each character’s unique personality adds to the fun of reading this book. For me, this is not a new plot or storyline, but the author’s voice makes it very entertaining. This is an easy-to-read romance that has me anxiously waiting for the other brothers’ stories.
This was my first read from this author. The cover intrigued me. Then the blurb was a bit enticing. I decided to give it ago. I didn't love this book, but I also didn't dislike this one. This is another one where I am in the middle with my thoughts.
I can say, hands down, I did not like Kira. For an adult, she (and her friends) acted like a twelve year old girl with her grudges and reactions. When it came to her I did more eye rolling than anything. I spent much of the book hoping she didn't get the guy.
I liked Rich's character. He had a lot of redeeming qualities for a former high school bully. I don't have anything negative to say about him, that is for sure. I really wanted him to get his happily ever after.
The book is filled with some really great scenes and some really not so great scenes. I mostly enjoyed them. The wedding was a bit much. It was a bit too out of the box "norm" for me.
Overall, I was back and forth with my thoughts on this book. I did mostly enjoy it. It was written well enough. I will most likely read the next book in the series. I am curious to see the next brother get his woman.
The King brothers have always wreaked havoc. Through their high school years, the three brothers almost tore apart Kira's friendship group. To save heir friendship they made a pack of no King brothers, ever. Now years later they are back in town and as alluring as ever with a fortune to their name. Particularly Rich King who has his eye on Kira. How can Kira resist Rich's advances and save her long-time friendship?
4.5 Stars
I really enjoyed this book and can't wait for the rest of the series. This is a great group of characters ready for their second chances!
I always try to be fair when reviewing a “new to me” author, but unfortunately this book was disappointing. The storyline in itself had promise, however the dialogue, behaviour and general maturity of the characters was juvenile. I didn’t connect with the primary couple or find their supposed romance believable; yet Cade (the brother) was hilarious! I found myself having to push through this story, so I’m undecided if I will read book two of the series.
Penelope is a newish author to me but I found myself very entertained by her characters. I have been meaning to read her Objects of Attraction Series for some time now. Now I know exactly what I am in for. Anyone But Rich is a tale about a man returning home only to have his life turned upside down by a woman he spurned years ago.
When they were in high school, Kira and her two friends made a pact that they would never let a man make you choose between him and your friends, especially NOT a King man. But something happens when Rich returns home and sees Kira, things begin turning in a direction that they never saw coming. Kira is a school teacher who has some history with our leading man, Rich. That history is what brings them back together.
I love a book with chemistry between the two leads, so their banter is great. It was nice to watch him try to break down the wall she up, to show her that he isn't the man she remembers. No matter what Rich tries, it always comes back to the pact.
The pact in question. Is it a problem or a way to get around themselves?
This book is hilarious. The side characters were hilarious; Rich's twin brother is the court jester of the group, kept me laughing. I know their books are going to be just as funny. I recommend this book for anyone who wants to be entertained and likes when a man knows he screwed and tries to fix it at any cost.
ARC generously given by Netgalley and Montlake Romance.
I could not stop laughing as I read this. It definitely put a smile on my face! Fresh, funny and full of romance, Anyone but Rich is classic Penelope Bloom but perhaps a little more refined than usual. I loved every minute of this book - it has Bloom’s trademark humor, lightness, and fun, which makes the pages fly by. It’s a great start to a new series that focuses on our couple but also leaves breadcrumbs for some intriguing future stories (there’s never a dull moment with Rich’s brothers).
The story follows Kira, a young woman just starting her new job as a teacher. Just as she thinks her life is getting on the right track, she discovers that the infamous King brothers are moving back to town. Rich and his two brothers were always the Kings of the town until they left for California and started a billion-dollar tech company. Last time they were in town, they almost blew apart Kira’s relationship with her two best friends (and Rich mysteriously did something to wrong Kira), so the friends have made a pact to never date any of the King brothers ever again. Rich has never been able to forget what he did to Kira, and he seeks out her forgiveness as soon as he returns to town... but her refusal to give it leaves him more than intrigued.
It’s such a light and fun book with characters you can’t help but root for. It’s a slow burn, enemies to lovers (at least on Kira’s end) romance that feels well developed but seems to fly by. I thought Rich was adorable (with a little bit of alpha) and a great fit for Kira. I am definitely excited to read the other two King brothers’ stories - Cade may be a bit of a playboy/class clown, but I can already tell he has a heart of gold. Thank you, NetGalley, for providing me with an ARC. I am voluntarily leaving a review of this hilarious and sexy book.
Kira had a crush on Rich in high school but he was that jerk that ran the school. Years later he is back in town and wants nothing more than to apologize for the way he treated her. She has made a pact with her friends that they must stay away from Rich and his brothers. Rich must fight his way into her good graces and heart.
This is a new to me author, and after reading the blurb I wanted to give it a try!
This series is about 3 brothers who left their town to become rich. Came back a few years later as millionaires. And meeting the 3 girls, with whom they had unfinished business from high school.
It’s a nice story, was easy to read, funny in between. I enjoyed it! I can totally see myself reading the next stories as well.
I kindly received an arc through Netgalley

First time for me reading a book of Penelope Bloom ! This was a 3 star for me! Great cover .... Overall It was a pleasant story and I really enjoyed it but sometimes I felt like smth was missing!! Despite that it was a sweet and funny read !!
I absolutely enjoyed this story about Richard and Kira. Let’s say growing up Rich, Cade and Nick were the most popular guys who dated everyone they wanted so when they left town and became very successful everyone from town was surprised they returned to their home town to build a new headquarters for their business. I must say the laughter I had though out this story was A welcome and had my husband p’s head shaking! The three friends make a promise as teenagers to never date the King brothers ever again and keep that promise as they are not there, once they return seven years later things become strained as Kira and Rich start talking and he will not give up on getting her forgiveness and attention. The 3 childhood friends are just hilarious together and make you wish for some craziness they share. The brothers return to town hoping to get their business up and running but their parents and the Mayor have other ideas as Rich is refusing to marry the one woman who will continue to keep them in the good graces of their social circles. Rich is one man who makes the right decisions and never gives himself what he deserves. Will Rich be able to make the most important decision of his life for the right reason. The journey that Rich and Kira take is not easy but one worth fighting for! I am looking forward to reading about Cade and Iris's story! I received and Advance Reader Copy of this book from NetGallery.
“...we'll never date them again. No matter what.”
Famous last words, ladies. This book, which will be a standalone in a set of three stories with interconnecting characters, was delightful! When three best friends-Kira, Iris, and Miranda make a pact to never date the King brothers again, you wonder what the heck has happened. Fast forward seven years, the billionaire brothers are back in town, and Rich King wants to make peace with Kira. I love the humour Penelope Bloom brings to her books (poopetrator. That's all I’m saying). The characters are quirky (Iris' nightstick) and fun. While I loved what Rich was willing to do to win over Kira, I am just as excited to see what's coming up for his brothers Cade and Nate. This story wasn't all fun and games, there's also some family interference which is only partially resolved. Fun rom-com.
I received a copy of this book via Netgalley. My honest review is voluntarily provided.
3 Stars
Picture the High School Hallway...three brothers walk the walk and each has this thing about them...The most intense is Rich, with his brother Cade being handsome, funny and just this south of goofy. The other brother Nick, is earnest, genius and will totally come into his own as he matures. Nerds usually do.
They make a movie scene with the girls wanting them and they have their pick.
Picture the girl crew...a sweet bookish one, a loud, funny one and the third just as cute as the others. They have their own ways about the school and are a tights bond in Girl Power.
The King Brothers leave a wake of broken hearts in their path causing these three friends to vow they will never ever, no matter what date or mix with a King Brother again.
Period.
Fast forward, the King brothers are back, more handsome than ever and billionaires. One of the brothers has come back specifically to make amends for the harm he did in high school.
Kira Summerland is the one Rich King wants to apologize to... but due to the vow the girls made, she is not wishing to have anything to do with him. Rich takes this as a challenge and game on...
This is a new series and we are introduced to all of the brothers and the counterparts for future books.
