And what a Reveal it is!
He has a wicked way with words, that Ryker Lockhart. He also has her heart. He used to have her trust. Now he has a lot of groveling to do...
But Ryker Lockhart does do things half cocked. And Vaughan isn't the type to let things go. Watch the walls come crumbling down in epic fashion, the world turn on them, and the good triumph in the end.
This duet just completely and utterly stole my heart! The mystery and intrigue, the raw and mind blowing emotional charge, and its scorchinly hot chemistry and passion just took this Wicked Ways duet to a whole new and epic level in my contemporary romance lover’s heart! ADORED every. Single.Page! <3
What a fascinating book. I was impressed by the storyline and the characters were all well written and complex. Where there are complex storylines combined with intriguing characters the reader experience is magnified tremendously. To have a book that is well written as well as entertaining is a delight. Reading is about escaping your world and entering another one. The word building was phenomenal in this book. Here I forgot about my own life and was immersed in the world created by the author. I would recommend this book.
this book is the second half of a duet. You do need to read the first book in order to be able to read this one. I really enjoyed this duet. It has everything you could hope for in romance. I loved that the author changed the POV for this book. I love seeing different POV from the main characters. I feel like it adds so much to the story. This book really brings you through all emotions. I loved her writing style. Flawless. I could not turn the pages fast enough to see what happens with Ryker and Vaughn. You will not be disappointed!
It was way more emotionally heavy than I expected and it was as good as the first book! The story begins from where the other book left off and without wanting to go into detail I can only say I liked how things went!It was nice having Ryker's point of view.Vaughn pissed me off at times in this book.Together they had a fantastic chemistry , I just loved them together and I couldn't get enough of them!
Vaughn and Ryker played an amazing game of cat and mouse. Soo many plot twist and turns making the reader go where the heck is this book going in such a good way. Loved every minute great conclusion to this duet.
The threatening, complicated, hot mess that has been surrounding and invading Vaughn’s, the heroine, life continues to play out here. Ryker is along for the ride and long haul, as well. He won’t let Vaughn go through this alone, even when she pushes him away. He’s got her back, even when he has to go behind it to set things in motion to keep her safe.
Several characters, old and new, carry to a final conclusion and end to the madness and nightmare this main couple have had to negotiate and navigate. Just to have things top off with another unexpected twist at the end and even between it all, folks.
Though I enjoyed the plot itself, I did find myself skimming over several large sections starting around the halfway point to speed things up. I.e., lengthy conversations, mental musings, heart and hand wringing, back and forth point of views, etc., made it all start to seem overly drawn out. Therefore, I can’t help but wonder if this series could have been condensed into one book without loss of substantial content.
Title: Reveal, Series: Wicked Ways (Book 2), Author: K. Bromberg, Pages: 363, MUST read book 1 first, not a stand-alone, waitress/escort service owner heroine who needs money for a good reason, top pay divorce lawyer now alpha protective of her, VERY steamy scenes, reference to past child molestation, sassy/feisty/protective heroine, attempted rape, relationship angst, slow paced but dramatic at the end.
Book 1 - Resist, Pages: 343
Book 2 - Reveal, Pages: 362
(I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book via NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own. I was not given any payment or compensation for this review. There is no relationship between this reviewer and the author, publisher, or NetGalley.)
She would stop at nothing to gain custody of her niece and felt caught in a world she was desperate to escape. Ryker would provide her the chance to be herself and to accomplish the dreams that had been pushed aside for far too long. Great continuation of the series.
K. Brombers as an author??? This book can only be THIS good. You will fall in love with second book in this series. This kourney will be full of roller coaster ride of emotions. You will laugh, You will cry...maybe author rip off Your heart a few times more BUT this book - this series is for muat read. Do not waste time - GRAB IT, READ IT, SAVOUR every moment.
Just an okay story for me. Not that compelling.
Many thanks to NetGalley, the publisher, and the author for my ARC. All opinions are my own.
This series didn't wow me and I have to admit the characters are bit forgettable the longer I get from when I read the series. If it wasn't for the cliffhanger i wouldn't have requested this story. Since I can't let cliffhanger go and I need closure I needed to finish this one off.
I'm never a fan of assumptions and people being martyrs in writing. And this book had too much of that for my liking. I don't mind moments of it but when it becomes too big and over takes other parts of the story then it frustrates me while reading.
Then there ends up being a twist that I saw was coming so it was predictable but felt out of place a bit as well.
~ Just remember that it takes a strong person to apologize, but it takes an even stronger person to show forgiveness. ~
I wanted to like this so much more, but I was forgettable and lack luster for me. I tried to love it but just couldn't in the end. :(
WOWZA!!! Talk about ending with a bang!! Because this book was one plot twist after another with a grovel so good, it's DELICIOUS. Like finger licking good. Seriously. YUM!!!
I was instantly hooked on Ryker and Vaughn in the first book. Their back and forth, never ending power play did something for me. In a big way. There was something just so spine tingling about their connection. Both of them are convinced that love isn't for them. Vaughn is focused on saving the last semblance of her family, and Ryker is jaded from childhood. Sound good? It was. As much as it was frustrating. But then Ryker screws up in the worst sort of ways at the end of Resist and a devastated Vaughn has no choice but to run.
Reveal takes off immediately after the conclusion of the first book. Vaughn still reeling from Ryker's betrayal and the repercussions that it brings, and Ryker desperate to make things right. Lies, secrets, blackmail, betrayal. There's so much that happens in this book and all of it will make your head spin. Just when you think the twists are over, K. Bromberg hits you over the head with another one and all of it makes for one thrilling page turner. I loved the journey these two had to their HEA and seeing Ryker's softer side come out more and more. This was the perfect conclusion to this thrilling and sizzling duet.
K. Bromberg is an amazing Storyteller! Every single book I read of hers is great! Can't wait for her next book!!
4.5 Stars
After finishing book one Resist I couldn’t wait to get my hands-on Reveal. The ending leaves you hanging and not so patiently waiting for the conclusion. K. Bromberg hooked me with this duet.
Ryker and Vaughn have this chemistry and pull towards each other. Vaughn is doing whatever she can to getting her niece and keeping what family she has left. She is working a job she doesn’t like and will do whatever it takes to for her niece. Neither of them are looking for love and don’t want it. These two frustrated me at times.
I couldn’t wait to get my hands on this book and let me tell you it didn’t disappoint. I am a huge fan of K. Bromberg, this is a duet you want to read!
A little bit of suspense … a whole lot of drama. A beautiful little girl … a woman who doesn’t know who to trust. A man who won’t admit his feelings … another man who is on a power trip … and another man who can ruin everything. A complex and intriguing story that will grip you right from the beginning and not let you go.
Ryker is a man in love who is fighting the fight of his life. Trying to fight is feelings, trying to fight the Senator, trying to fight to get Vaughn to understand and accept him. As the story progresses, he finds out that there is so much more to Vaughn that she may not even know. When he finally finds out everything, he can’t help but want to protect what he considers is his. But, is he adding more fuel to the fire or helping her?
Vaughn can’t believe the turn her life has taken. She is doing everything for Lucy but can’t help but wonder if her relationship with Ryker is the best or worst thing that has ever happened to her. It takes a lot for her to forgive his indiscretion but she can see in his eyes, his words and his heart, that he thought he was doing the right thing. Too bad everything back-fired. Now, faced with her past and her present she has some major decisions to make. She know she can end it all with just one meeting but something is holding her back. Now, she has no choice. Time for her to take back her life, let the feelings she has for Ryker surface and face her problems head on.
The story itself was complex. The twists and turns just added to the story and I couldn’t wait to see how all the pieces of this puzzle fit together. I was surprised then sad that I saw this one coming. But, I wasn’t prepared for how it would all end before the HEA could be found. I’m usually not surprised so you know that K. Bromberg did a wonderful job telling this story. I was really drawn into this story with all the different story lines and how they all fit together. She wrote a beautiful girl in Lucy and I loved how she made her the center of attention whenever she was brought into the story. Vaughn was complicated yet so very simple. A women who knew her place in the world, accepted it and was working the best way she knew how to make everyone happy and a better life for everyone. As for Ryker. Well, he was just as vulnerable as Vaughn was. He wanted nothing more but to protect her, help her get custody of Lucy and just be there to soothe her pain, take her troubles away and love her – even if it took two books for him to realize that last one.
I shouldn’t be surprised with the way K. Bromberg draws me into a story. She has a way of building characters that are strong yet compassionate. Her story lines are interesting and intelligent. She pulls no punches throughout the story … tells it like it is and makes you see the reality of the situation, the repercussions of decisions made in the heat of the moment and the love that shines through in the end. Reveal was emotional, sensual and extremely powerful written by an author that knows how to bring a story to life.
I was sure that Reveal would be just as raw, sexy and jaw dropping as Resist was but I had no idea that the roller coaster ride from hell wouldn’t let me off the ride until the end of the book. The story picks up right where it left off as Vaughn tries to dodge and bluff with her enemies and still unknowingly manages to put herself right in the middle of her worst nightmares. Ryker does everything he can to keep her safe but Vaughn is determined to save herself and she’s one of the gutsiest characters I’ve ever has the pleasure to meet. With Ryker’s love, devotion and steely determination to give the a future together, everything Vaughn has been fighting for makes the terror she encounters at every turn worth it in the end. These characters and their story are absolute perfection! I read an early copy of this book through NetGalley and all opinions expressed in my voluntary review are completely my own.
You know there is always something good coming when K. Bromberg leaves you with one hell of a cliffhanger and boy oh boy did she bring it.
Ryker and Vaughn's ride was a bumpy one up until this book and this book took us on another ride with twists and turns. I may have a little whiplash going on.
I wasn't quite sure how Ryker was going to explain himself after the cliffhanger but the beautiful and twisted mind of K Bromberg brought it all together perfectly. I should have never doubted her genius. Be prepared for the fun, the lies, the sex, the OMG moments because K. Bromberg has packed this book with all of them!
After the way Resist ended on a cliffhanger I had to get my hands on Reveal ASAP.
Reveal picks up where Resist left off. The biggest difference between the two installments is the element of danger. Reveal felt like a romantic suspense because Vaughn is in danger from the evil senator who is blackmailing her about Wicked Ways. There’s also another suspenseful thread dealing with another character in Vaughn’s life but it develops towards the end of the book.
Vaughn and Ryker had many ups and downs in their relationship; there were times I wanted to slap them both. They needed to get their crap together, and luckily they finally did. For most of the book, they would make the same mistake, no communication, mostly on Ryker’s part. He would run off and do something to “help” Vaughn but it would only make things worse.
All the things Vaughn was juggling, Wicked Ways, trying to adopt her niece Lucy, relationship with Ryker, and not landing in jail, or worse at the hands of the slimy senator, continued to weight her down. She showed how strong she is by dealing with it all the best she could. Then you throw in the fact that if she hadn’t started Wicked Ways in the first place she wouldn’t have all these problems. Reveal was full of angst and danger. If it was a movie I would have been yelling at the screen at how stupid some of the characters were being. But don’t get me wrong, I loved every minute of it.
Reveal wraps up Vaughn and Ryker’s story. I hope a couple of the side characters get a story, but I don’t know if there are plans for more the series, or if it was only meant to be a duet. I plan on trying some of K. Bromberg’s backlist, I actually have one of her standalone novels on audio, Sweet Cheeks so I’ll start there.
There was a narrator change. Erin Mallon did not voice Vaughn’s POV this time around. Samantha Brentmoor took over (not sure why, maybe scheduling issues) but she did a great job. Reveal is my first time listening to Brentmoor, but it will not be my last. Like Ms. Mallon, Samantha does an amazing job with male voices.
Jason Clarke is the reason I listened to Reveal instead of reading the eARC I downloaded from Netgalley. I was ready to start reading after writing my review for Resist but I had a couple of other review books I need to get done and while I was listening to those the early copy of Reveal on audio for review became available so I jumped on it.
If you know me and my love of Sebastian York and his sexy voice, then you know I’m really saying something when Jason Clarke is my new favorite male narrator for sexy romance novels. I think it’s because Jason does a better job with female voices and making the male characters sound so different from each other. York is a great narrator but his voice doesn’t have the same range as Clark’s does.
Classic Bromberg! Passionate and sexy. It keeps you on your toes the whole time wanting to know more. Honestly read it in one sitting. Great flow and character build!
PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF ALL THINGS HOLY, READ THIS DUET!!!!!! Read Resist first and fear not, the cliffy is picked right up where we last saw Ryker and Vaughn.
I am not going to lie, Vaughn can be a little tiresome with her stubborn streak, but this has served her well in the past. A misunderstand sent her fleeing from Ryker and her constant stubbornness and refusal of Ryker's help, went on a bit much for me, but it added to the angst in the story. Let's not forget that Ryker was a bit of a jerk, but his redemption is quick IMO.
We have flawed characters that soon became real to me and I was vested in each of their lives. Ryker, is a MAJOR ALFA and wants to help Vaughn and she is close to her breaking point.
This is the perfect wrap up in a fantastic duet. Fall in love with Ryker and Vaughn, the drama, steaminess and love story that grows is so worth it.
