Quick read explaining the sun signs. Very basic and often completely wrong descriptions of the zodiac signs. As every astrology student knows, who you are depends at the very least on your sun, moon and rising sign. Nothing about that gets mentioned in this little book. The pretence that all you need is your zodiac sign and that's who you are is an insult to the amazing wealth of knowledge astrology has to offer. The list of explanatory words at the end of the book will be abracadabra for anyone new to astrology.
Very disappointing read.
Thank you Netgalley and Llewellyn for the ARC.
Wow educational, sunny, astrological, entertaining four stars!
I was graduated from astrology school, it lasted 4 your of astronomy and learned more about chart drawing, chart reading, Arabic parts, astronomy history. But I'm so open to learn more and ready to dive into new written projects because most people may see the astrology consisted of signs but it is more profound, complicated, detailed science and every day there are new searches and essays about new discoveries. So when I get a new book about astrology, I feel like I celebrate Christmas in July.
This book was brief, well-written, educational about our sun signs. Personally I am a Aries but I didn't know there are so many differences between born in March and born in April Aries people. ( Thankfully Born in April ones have better attributes, yay! It's good to be born at April Fools')
It was a fast, fun, easy,,entertaining reading and I recommend all the astrology lovers or the people who want to learn more about their sun signs.
First things first, I’m a Libra before anybody asks. Yes, I know it was probably obvious since all Libras are divine gifts from above.
Secondly, I love this book. I want it for my own honestly. I have always been interested in astrology and horoscopes but also always felt a little lost because what in the hell is a 5th moon rising on Saturn?
This book is simple and comprehensive and breaks down all of the signs perfectly. It’s more of a guide than anything and I’m happy I was given the chance to read it!
Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for this ARC!
I don't really know much about astrology and this was a good beginners guide. I love all the different topics and breakdowns each chapter has. This book hasn't made me a believer, but it is definitely in good fun. Thank you, NetGalley, for allowing me to read this book in exchange for an honest review!
I didn't really get a lot out of this book, as the only part that is useful is the section with your specific sign. I was hoping this would be a bit more detailed and layered but it really wasn't much better than any other horoscope webpage.
I love books on astrology, but I've never found one I loved this much. Robinett knows her stuff, and knows how to put it across in a relatable and easy-to-understand manner. While this might be a bit of an information overload if you tried to read it cover-to-cover in a day, it would make an absolutely amazing reference book to keep on your shelves (or e-reader, whichever).
When reading books about astrology, one fun thing I like to do is to look up myself and each of my immediate family members and see how much the bits on our signs match up. For example, my spouse is a Gemini who doesn't fit Gemini rules at all, so I was entertained to see that, yet again, the Gemini blurbs didn't fit them. On the other hand, my running joke is that "I'm the Libra-est Libra you'll ever meet," and I was sitting here reading this book and literally fussing to my spouse across the room, saying, "I feel so called out right now!" haha.
Seriously though, this book is incredibly accurate and informative, but even more than that, it's a really fun read that offers a ton of insight into why we are the way that we are. While Robinett explains things in a way that I think will make perfect sense to the greenest newcomer to astrology studies, she does it in a way that won't bore someone who already knows a lot about how the signs work.
I recommend this to absolutely anyone and everyone who has any interest at all in astrology, and I've already pre-ordered a physical copy to have on my own shelf!
Thank you so much to the publisher for providing me with this ARC in exchange for an honest review!
I found this book to be very in depth and insightful. The information follows what I know or have read in other books on the subject.
This is a pretty typical astrology book -- it goes into minute detail about the personality and prospects for each sign. I really like the conversational tone. The addition of moon information for each sign is nice, too.
I love this book! This is one of the easiest-to-understand astrology books I have come across. I love that Robinett uses astrology as a tool, but also relies heavily on intuition when making decisions, even if it "goes against" what her chart says. After this helpful introduction, she provides a chapter for each sign that includes basic information, a breakdown of each sign into tertiary segments, strengths, weaknesses, relationships, parenting children of that sign, work, etc.
This book was particularly useful in covering the energy you may feel when a new moon or full moon are in a particular sign. Having this information in the same book is so helpful.
I plan to buy a copy of this book upon its release. Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for the review copy.
This was a fun and interesting read. Astrology is really popular at my library right now, and we will be hosting the author this fall for a program. I'll be ordering a few copies for our location and I'm sure they'll circulate well. Thank you
I received a copy of this book from the publisher through Net Galley. What follows is an honest review.
I really like this book because it goes past fire signs and water signs. Beyond the fact that I’m a Leo and have the heart of a lion (which is true but I don’t have the personality to rock the fire sign). It actually goes into the planets and how they help to determine what your sign is up to at the moment.
It took me a little longer to get through the first part of the book because I thought “what does this have to do with my sign?” But astrology is more than that. I feel like I’ve kind of had the wrong idea about it for many years.
Do I believe that the planets align to give you a perfect day? I don’t know what the planets were up to the day I met my husband by chance. I don’t know where Venus was when we got our house appraised for what we needed it to appraise for to get approved. I don’t know if there is anything that will make me believe in astrology guiding my life because I’m too cynical and nothing is that easy. I do know now there there is a sort of science behind it and that’s pretty cool.
To me it’s now kind of like the weather. For sure, there’s science, but the science can only predict. It isn’t an absolute. Anyway I think this is a cool reference for astrology.
