I have never been one interested in spirituality or meditation but I was intrigued to read this book when I heard Nana Visitor ( who payed Kira on Star Trek Deep space Nine) wrote the introduction. I found this book had a scientific approach towards ancient Buddhist spiritual principles and it definitely gave me food for thought. I would recommend this book to anyone interested in spirituality and being more mindful. The author has a good way of explaining concepts and making it applicable. Thanks to Netgally and the publisher for an ARC in exchange for an unbiased review.
When I saw the title, thought I was going to read about the 3 Principles developed by Sid Banks (Look it up if you're not familiar -- It's brilliant). But this book is not related.
Kudos to the author for taking on these deep Buddhist topics and connecting some science with them. I liked this for the most part, and learned (or was reminded) of some helpful ideas. I first 25% was somewhat interesting but not very helpful for understanding the rest of the book. I've read other books on Buddism and didn't connect with this one as much some others. There's huge chunk devoted to questions/letters that the author answers, which cover a large range of topics. The author is obviously brilliant, and at times left me wanting more. I may check out his other work. 3.5 stars.
I really appreciate the advanced copy for review!!
