This did not interest me at all.
I was just incredible bored and the characters were meh at best.
The blurb made it seem interesting, but honestly i was so turned off espesially in the start when they threw the N word around.
Thank you NetGalley for the digitil ARC. I have read this author before and this time i was still not disappointed. Much action, had me glued and I loved the funny moments. Thank you for allowing me into this book of characters.
A'zayler does it again.
It was excellent, a real page-turner. I would recommend it to anyone who loves urban fiction.
A’Zayler has done it again. Her novel In Love With My Enemy is a work of compelling urban fiction.
Jalil Donquez Free, known as Free to the streets and as Don to himself, was betrayed by his closest friend and partner in crime, Echo Mendoza, and is out for revenge. Don has now gotten close to Echo’s daughter, Danna, and vows to protect her, but is still determined to get revenge against her father. His love for Danna has changed, but not canceled, his plan.
Danna Mendoza is the youngest daughter of Vonetta Mendoza and the only daughter of Echo Mendoza. She’s torn between two men that are both forbidden to her. Don is the man assigned to protect her and is old enough to be her father. Quay is closer to her age, but he also works for her father and is therefore, off limits.
Ezra Mendoza is the youngest son of Echo and Vonetta. He’s a college student and a basketball phenomenon. He’s fallen hard for his classmate, Cannon Collier and hopes his family’s business doesn’t ruin this new relationship.
Cannon Collier is intrigued by the handsome basketball player in her creative writing class. She’s recently moved from Colorado to Georgia and is hesitant about starting a new relationship since her previous boyfriend, Matt, died in a car crash. Ezra is cute but will he understand her family situation?
A’Zayler has added another winner to her long list of gripping street sagas. The characters are exceptional, but relatable and believable. The language is graphic but realistic for the setting. The plot twists and street dialogue make this a truly compelling read.
At it’s core In Love with My Enemy is a novel about family, love, trust and betrayal. I give it 5 out of 5 stars and recommend it to anyone who enjoys stories featuring strong characters in challenging situations, especially in urban settings. The profanity and explicit sex scenes may be offensive to some readers.
My thanks to Kensington Books and NetGalley for the opportunity to read an advance copy of this book. However, the opinions expressed in this review are 100% mine and mine alone.
4.5 STARS!!!
I devoured this book in one day. There were characters that I hated to love and loved to hate. I have to be honest though Ezra and Cannon were my favorite characters. I absolutely loved them and felt the chemistry and love between their characters. However, I also enjoyed Danna, Quay and Don. Well, I enjoyed Don up until the end. I do wish that I felt more or could believe the love between Danna and her man at the end. Their relationship just seemed to move too fast for me and I needed a little more time with them being together. This story was full of drama, shocking, steamy and funny moments but there was also revenge, betrayal, and a some craziness. The ending was sweet and funny and I defintiely look forward to reading more books from this author in the future.
