This is a charming and interesting series. The bread shop may be the basis for the mystery, but our lovely protagonist goes far beyond baking and photography. Family funeral/will concerns set the mystery in motion. Much more involved than initially suspected. Keeps one guessing.

The latest addition in Winnie Archer's A Bread Shop Mystery series was near perfection. I ran the gamut of emotions with heartache, humor, grieving and romance. The characters are all wonderful in Santa Sofia and there is just such a delightful sense of family. I especially love the descriptions of the almost mystical qualities of the breads and wish there were recipes, There is an expert mystery in 'Flour in the Attic' and a hint of what is coming that gives my great anticipation for more. I highly recommend this whole series.

I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley. The opinions expressed in this review are entirely my own.

Marisol was murdered. Her husband David is convinced of it, as are Ivy and Miguel. Marisol worked for Miguel at his restaurant and unlike many murder victims in cozies, she was much liked. Ivy, who moved back to Santa Sofia after leaving her rat of an ex, has established a nice photography business and made good friends, especially in Olaya who owns the Yeast of Eden bakery. She's also renewed her romance with Miguel, her high school sweeties. Just when the group starts to poke around, David is murdered! Why? Who? Ivy's brother Billy is involved with Sheriff Emmaline - who is a really good egg. There are lots of threads to pull together here and if you haven't read the earlier books, you will be fine because Archer wisely gives you enough info to know who's who etc. There are some surprises (including a surprise appearance) and some twists. Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC. I'm a fan of this well written series largely because of the characters and I'm eagerly awaiting the next one!

I received a copy of this book from Netgalley and the publisher in exchange for an honest review.

I honestly picked this book because of the cover and title. This may honestly be one of the best cozies I've read.

I adored Ivy and her relationship to the Baptista family.

The mystery was sad and horrifying.

And that cliffhanger!

I cannot wait to read the next book in this series.

Ivy has returned to her home town and is figuring out her life, but she's rekindled her romance with her high school boyfriend, has a job in a bakery and is starting up her photography business and has a circle of friends/fellow investigators. Its a good cosy mystery with a fun cast of characters, romance, a sense of humour and of course a murder.

Although it's the fourth book in the series it works really well as a stand alone novel. I'll be reading the previous novels in the series as they're good, easy reads.

This sort of blew my socks off at the end. I can't use any of the adjectives I want to describe it because it may give something away. Needless to say, I enjoyed this fourth book in the Bread Shop Mystery series. I will definitely go back to read the first three.

Ivy Culpepper is back in her hometown of Santa Sofia, CA. While she hasn't quite figured out what to be when she grows up, she's busy working in Yeast of Eden, baking bread, and focusing on her photography again. When an employee at her boyfriend's restaurant found murdered, Ivy sets out to discover what the victim knew...hopefully before anyone else is killed for that knowing the same.

I liked that this had a real Mexican feel to it. Miguel and Olaya from the bread shop retain the traditional way of cooking and baking, which fuels their successful businesses. I would have liked a bit more about the town they're living in. It's not clear if this is a big or small place. The main character certainly has her group of friends and relatives, which makes this cozy regardless.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read this book!

This series is near and dear to my heart, with this latest installment cementing it. I loved everything about this story, how nothing is as it seems, the light humor, the hint of sadness of Ivy that always seems to linger. This author does a superb job of setting you up for the happy then hooking you with the mystery. Definitely a book you won't be able to put down.

Ivy Culpepper has returned home to Santa Sofia as has her high school sweetheart, Miguel, and lie couldn’t be better. Well, not until one of the long time waitresses at Miguel’s family restaurant is found dead and Ivy’s ex husband shows up at her house. When the death is declared a murder, Ivy and Miguel begin looking into things to find who killed the much loved Marisol Ruiz and why.

The loss of loved ones has a way of bringing out the worst in some people and in the case, it’s not quite who anyone would have suspected. Now the police, Ivy and Miguel need to figure things out before the killer strikes again.

This is the first book I have read in this series or by the author and I was hooked from the beginning. No gaps with not having read the previous books in the series, so this makes a great stand alone for anyone wondering about that. Solid characters, great writing and a mystery that leaves you enough clues to have it all fall into place along with the characters.

How does a competitive swimmer drown? That is the question in the 4th installment of the Bread Shop Mystery. Ivy is helping Olaya with Marisol’s funeral but the question remains how could she have drowned. Ivy along with Miquel and Olaya and others work to solve the mystery. Marisol worked at Miquel’s restaurant and is a family friend and her husband David believes it is murder and then he ends up dead as well. Clues could be interpreted a couple of ways and the story unfolds at a good pace and the killer is revealed when you are supposed to. I did not figure it out. Good series and look forward to more in the future.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for the chance to read this book!

I am always excited to get permission to read a book from a series that I've read before, and this was no exception! I remembered Ivy as an excellent sleuth, and both the setting and the theme charmed me yet again. There is something just so stirring with food based mysteries; never read them on an empty stomach is my advice! I don't even have a particular fondness for bread, but somehow this book makes it sound amazing! There were recipes and ideas I couldn't have fathomed before reading this book!

Now, the mystery. It was probably the darkest cozy I've read to date, but it was handled well. It made me very invested in the characters and what had happened to them, and the ending both thrilled and shocked me. I bet very few readers will see it coming, even if they read cozy mysteries for breakfast (like me haha) Basically what I'm saying is this one is both unique and yet still has a cozy flavour, which is never a bad thing. You'll be lulled by the familiar, and then suitably shocked.

The romance is still in the early stages, but progressing nicely. Ivy is still carrying some emotional baggage this time around, just like in the last book I read in this series (Book two) but is moving on with Miguel. I also love to read about her friend Emmaline and brother Billy, and the future wedding!

Another fantastic established cozy. Great plot, writing and characters. Five stars.

Flour in the Attic by Winnie Archer was a great addition to this series. I had previously read the first three books in this series and this one is even better than the previous ones.

Ivy and Miguel are together in solving this case since it involves a waitress at Miguel's restaurant and long time family friend. Olaya and Mrs. Branford are wonderful secondary characters that always add depth and insight into the current mysteries as Ivy investigates. This plot was complex; and in spite of the clues that Ms. Archer sprinkled throughout the story, I didn't have a clue as to who had committed the crimes or why they had done it until the reveal. The "surprise announcement" dropped by Ms. Archer on the last page of this book has me eagerly awaiting the next book in this series.

A big thank you to NetGalley and Kensington Books for the ARC. I am voluntarily reviewing this book. First time reading this author. This is a cozy type mystery with some suspense and a little romance, second chance romance at that. I believe this is part of a series. Takes place in Northern CA. It has a very interesting outcome. Unexpected but fascinating, very different. I enjoyed this book. I give it 4 stars.
