This book that takes place around the holiday of Halloween was a great riveting read. The plot was well written and kept me on my toes. The characters were ones I would love to visit again and again. I didn't know who the killer was for most of the book.

Crypt Suzette by Maya Corrigan is a great Halloween/Autumn themed cozy mystery that is the 6th installment of A Five-Ingredient Mystery series.

This is my first entry of this series, but I enjoyed the characters as if I had been part of the family all along. I love the character duo of Val and her Grandfather. Both are likable characters, realistic, and have a great complimentary relationship.
I love anything Halloween themed, and this did not disappoint.
I enjoyed the murder/mystery plot as well. I now plan to read the previous installments and look forward to further additional reads as well.

5/5 stars

Thank you NetGalley and Kensington for this ARC and in return I am submitting my unbiased and voluntary review and opinion.

This is the 6th installment in the Five Ingredient Mystery series. In this story, Val has is catering the opening of a bookstore of a classmate of her Grandfather (although the son of the owner is not so sure Val can pull it off). The day after the opening Suzette, her Grandfather’s border is killed in a hit and run. Val is not so sure that Suzette’s death is an accident. Grandpa and Val begin investigating and also wonder if a recent string of burglaries can be related. As they learn more about Suzette and her family they begin to solve the murder. I like that this mystery is set in the autumn and Halloween. Val visits a haunted house with Bram (bookstore owner’s son and possible love interest?) to help put all the clues together. I love Val and her Grandpa and I so love their relationship. Good solid cozy and a fast read. Well done and recommend this book as well as this whole series. Keep them coming!

Mystery, murder, twists that will keep you turning pages. Well thought out plot, characters are fleshed out, well written. Who could the killer be? Get a copy and come along on this ride. You'll be glad you did!

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for the chance to read this book!

This was my first foray into this cozy series, and I wasn't left disappointed. Even though this is the sixth book, you immediately feel welcomed and not lost by the concept or the characters at all. It's especially nice to have a sleuth assistant Grandpa; loads of cozies just focus on female sleuths but some of my other favorites are male sleuths as well. It was interesting as well that there doesn't appear to be a romantic interest UNTIL this book, unless Val has had them in past books and moved on? Of course I am very interested to see where a relationship with the sexy yet slightly unapproachable son of the local bookstore owner goes! He seems almost like the perfect gentleman, a modern Mr Darcy, and I AM intrigued ;)

I loved this mystery, but I was sad to lose Suzette as a character. She seemed so young and vibrant, and believed in her causes. As far as making her the victim, it was a good choice because as readers we felt more involved in solving a mystery of a person with a sad backstory who still tried to do good. Sometimes cozy mysteries have the mystery a little too off screen and you have no connection with the victim at all. The writing aspect interested me as well, and the food just made me hungry. Good thing it's dinner time soon!

This is a great little mystery and it's obviously a great series as well. Established series can get a little dry over time but this one still feels fresh and I can't wait to both read new work and go back and find the previous editions. Highly recommended!

A new book store is opening in town and Val Deniston is asked to cater the event. Since it’s an old schoolmate of her grandad’s Val is happy to take on the task, even if the owner’s son doesn’t think she is up for the job. When one of the opening attendees is killed a hit and run the next morning, Val doesn’t believe it was an accident. Now Val and Grandad need to find some proof to convince the police chief and have him begin an investigation into the young woman’s murder.

While investigating murder suspects, Grandad solves a burglary ring in the area. While that takes one suspect off their murder list, it isn’t until Val and Bram, the book owner’s son, go to the local haunted house together that the pieces of the puzzle fall into place and Val figures out who the murderer is and why she killed the young woman.

This is the first book I have read in this series and I found it to be quite enjoyable. No missing links or connections, so it serves fine as a stand alone. Looking forward to reading the first five books in the series and seeing what the love gods have in store for Val and Grandad.

An excellent read! I was kept guessing until the end. This cozy mystery is extremely well written with a tight, multi-layered plot and engaging characters. There were multiple story lines, which were all tied up in the end. I’ll definitely be reading more of this author’s work. I received this book free and chose to make a voluntary, unbiased review.

Good cozy with a Halloween (one of my favs) theme. Good main characters, and a good flowing story. Val and her granddad help find out who is burglarizing homes, and find a killer who meant to harm not kill, for revenge. It shows how revenge can take over a person and make them do things that in their mind are justified. Hope there will be more in this series so we can see more of Val, granddad and how their lives move forward.

Crypt Suzette is a phenomenal addition to this fun series by Maya Corrigan.
I love most cozy mystery books that have a Halloween theme and this book did not disappoint.
Val and her grandfather have been renting a room to a local college student, and when her unexpected death strikes too close to home, Val and her grandfather do what it takes to find the answers.
This is the perfect book to get through the summer heat.
I give this book 5 stars!
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for approving me to read this book.

This is the first book I have read in this series, but I was able to get to know the characters very quickly. I enjoyed this book very much and plan on picking up the previous stories.

This was the first book I've read in the series. While I know that means I've missed the character building, I found it easy to keep track of the characters. I enjoyed the setting and the mystery. Although I usually avoid food cozies, I will go back and read the prior books as this one was so much fun.

Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for my eARC in exchange for my honest review.

This is a fun, fast-paced addition to an excellent cozy mystery series. It features a compelling plot, an intelligent lead character and delicious food. Val Denniston and her grandfather have taken in a tenant, a young woman named Suzette, who works at a local hotel while she attends college. Suzette is also a budding writer, in a critique group called the fictionistas. When Suzette is killed in a hit and run that mirrors the death in the story she was writing, Val, her grandfather and Gillian, the advisor to the critique group, believe that her death was not the accident it first appeared to be. Val, who has a reputation as a sleuth, is once again on the case, and once again is able to solve the mystery. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and highly recommend it.

This was a decent instalment in this series, but I found the revelation of the killer and their motivation pretty lacklustre.

I received a copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. I was not paid for this review.

This is one of my favorite series. it is the 6th series in the book. Val and her granddad rent house a room in the house to Suzette who is killed in a hit and run the morning after she wins a gift certificate at a book store.

Val and her granddad help to solve who killed Suzette. She caters at the book store for the writers writer's group that Suzette is In.

You will love this book
