I love when some of my favorite authors and series come together, especially for Halloween. I love that these keep coming out every holiday.

What a fun book. All three authors did a great job in this trilogy.

HAUNTED HOUSE MURDER by LESLIE MEIER
Newcomers to Tinker’s Cove, Ty and Heather Moon have moved into a dilapidated house reputed to be a haven for ghosts. Now strange noises and flickering lights erupt from the house at all hours and neighborly relations are on edge. And when a local boy goes missing near the house, it’s up to Lucy Stone to unravel the mystery of the eccentric couple and their increasingly frightful behavior.

DEATH BY HAUNTED HOUSE by LEE HOLLIS
For the past two years, the house next door to Hayley Powell has sat abandoned after the owner died under mysterious circumstances. The Salinger family has recently taken possession of the property, but the realtor behind the deal has vanished—after a very public and angry argument with Damien Salinger. If Bar Harbor’s newest neighbors are murderers, Hayley will haunt them until they confess.

HALLOWED OUT by BARBARA ROSS
With its history of hauntings and ghost sightings, Busman’s Harbor is the perfect setting for Halloween festivities. But when a reenactment of a Prohibition-era gangster’s murder ends with a literal bang and a dead actor from New Jersey, Julia Snowden must identify a killer before she ends up sleeping with the fishes.

These were three uniquely different but absolutely wonderful stories by separate authors. I enjoyed their work and look forward to reading some of their work in the near future as they were very fun reads!

This was a fun anthology made up of three novellas from series that I enjoy. You can read this book as a standalone without reading the series and still enjoy them. All three of these stories deal with some kind of a Haunted House or Haunted Building. All of the mysteries are interesting and solved quickly without a lot of danger as we often have in full-length stories. I enjoy all three of these series, with their quirky characters, well-plotted stories and just enough twists to keep me guessing. I enjoyed Barbara Ross' story, Hallowed Out the best. In that story there is a Haunted Ghost Tour that has a stop at the restaurant run by Julia Snowden and her boyfriend Chris. When one of the actors in the reenactment is killed, Julia snoops around until she unearths the culprit. All in all, a fun Halloween theme cozy story collection. A quick read that I thoroughly enjoyed!

Another fun trilogy of stories, these with a halloween theme, from some of today's favorite cozy mystery authors. It's always fun to have a quick visit through a short story, featuring some of your favorite characters, when between main novels. These stories highlight the fun parts of Halloween and include some spooky happenings, keeping the reader entertained to the end. A great themed read you don't want to miss!

Let me start by saying that I've never read any of the three authors who wrote this book. Now let me say that they all have a new fan. This was such a fun read and I wish the stories would have been longer. Haunted House Murder was my favorite of the three stories but only by a small fraction.

Filled with 3 short novellas. 1st we have Lucy Stone caring for her grandson Patrick. Where a strange young couple move into a creepy haunted house. Fun little story with a little bit of mystery. 2nd we experience a woman's disappearance. When a woman's body is found in the woods by Hayley, who is the culprit? High suspicion falls on the father of the new creepy and strange Salinger family. I liked the suspense in this novella, but couldn't stand the way Hayley speaks to her husband (comes off kind of degrading). 3rd we have a reenactment gone wrong with a murder while on a Halloween haunted house tour. Julia is determined to figure out who killed the actor. Fun and suspenseful.

Haunted House Murder is a entertaining fall read that is perfect for the Halloween season. Featuring three of my favorite cozy authors, this book brings three haunting tales of mystery for the reader to enjoy. Meier does a great job at creating an enjoyable story featuring Lucy Stone. I always love reading this series especially the holiday stories because I always enjoy reading about the characters in Tinker's Cove. Meier does a great job at creating an entertaining story despite the short length. The story captures the reader's interest from the beginning and never lets go. Hollis also does a great job at creating a haunting tale that fits in perfectly with the overall book theme of haunted houses. I really enjoyed the characters in the story although I have to admit I am not sure how Hayley can put up with her husband, Danny, and his antics. I can see why she is divorced later in the series. I did however like getting a glimpse of her earlier life though. "Hallowed Out" was my favorite story in the book though. I just love this series more and more each story I read. The story definitely fit in perfectly with the book's theme and provided a enjoyable story. I always enjoy visiting these characters and Busman's Harbor. Overall Haunted House Murder was a great fall read that I would most definitely recommend.

Received a copy of Haunted House Murder through NetGalley in exchange for my honest review.

Haunted House Murder

When newcomers Ty and Heather Moon move into the dilapidated house across from the school. Everyone is interested in the couple and why they choose to move to Tinker Cove and the house that has a reputation for being a haven for ghosts. Since the couple’s arrival, the strange sounds and events involving the house have amped up. When a boy goes missing the mysterious couple becomes a major concern for Lucy.

Death By Haunted House

The House next door to Hayley Powell and her family has been empty for the past two years. So when the mysterious family moved in and the relator goes missing after an argument with the man of the house Hayley believes she knows what has happened. Can Hayley and her husband find out the truth about their neighbors? Or will this mystery haunt Hayley forever?

Hallowed Out

Busman’s Harbor is the perfect site for Halloween festivities with its history of hauntings and ghost sightings. However, when the reenactment of a gangster’s murder ends with history repeating it’s self Julia Snowden feels the need to help solve this mystery before she too ends up sleeping forever.

This is a wonderful collection of Halloween themed short novellas. I loved reading these stories and each one has a wonderfully fun themed mystery. The characters in each are great and you can really relate to each. I have always enjoyed the Lucy Stone Series and Haunted House Murder was no disappointment. Lucy always gives every mystery her all while still handling her job and family life. Death by Haunted House has wonderfully quirky characters that are great for Halloween season. Hallowed Out the storyline reminds me of ghost stories passed down for generations. I recommend all three to Halloween themed cozy lovers or just fans of a great Halloween story.

I voluntarily agreed to read a copy of this book supplied by Netgalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own and in no way have been influenced.

I want to thank NetGalley for providing me this copy of Haunted House Murder in exchange for an honest review. This delightfully spooky trio of stories includes the following:

Haunted House Murder by Leslie Meier - When a mysterious new couple moves into a "haunted" house in Tinker's cove, Lucy Stone must discover what is fact and what is fiction, especially after her grandson mysteriously disappears. Expect the usual amount of cozy food references that will leave you hungry!

Death by Haunted House by Lee Hollis - A cursed house, a strange new family, a missing woman ... and a corpse in the woods. Hayley Powell certainly has her hands full this Halloween! Personally, I think the biggest problem in this story is Hayley's husband, whom I found to be extremely annoying. I couldn't help hoping he would end up as the next victim (too harsh?).

Hallowed Out by Barbara Ross - Julia Snowden takes part in a haunted reenactment that ends in murder. Can she help solve the mystery? Or will she end up another victim? This story was a highlight in the collection, and it definitely makes me want to return to Busman's Harbor for more.

Halloween Trifecta of short stories
Haunted House Murder
By Leslie Meier
Grandmother Lucy Stone, reporter for the Pennysaver gets the opportunity for some quality time with her grandson Patrick. While Patrick's life doesn't skip a beat even with the change in school and soccer team. Lucy has forgotten how much time and energy it can take to take care of a child who has fractions homework and soccer practice. In addition to Mom duties, Lucy is balancing her investigative reporting duties which include looking into the strange goings-on at the old house across from the school and the strange new owners. Moon is abrupt and his wife is a pale willowy creature who is rarely seen. This story definitely has a twist and is good for putting one in the Halloween mood. I only wish that Lucy and Bill had been portrayed as the loving couple from the earlier stories.

Death by Haunted House
By Lee Hollis
Hayley Powell, journalist, Mom, wife, and good neighbor is plunged into a who done it, when she and her husband stumble upon a local real estate agent dead and buried in the forest when looking for their run away puppy. Halloween fun to be sure! In addition to the murder mystery is the mystery of the strange family that has moved in next door. Hayley's husband is sure that the neighbors are up to no good and must be involved. The ensuing hijinks are rather comical but over all I was not a fan of this Hayley Powell book. The last one I read, Death of the Wedding Cake Baker was much more light hearted and did not seem to be quite so contrary with regards to kids and husband.

Hallowed Out
By Barbara Ross
Definitely the best was saved for last. Thoroughly enjoyed this short story of a reenactment gone wrong during a haunted trolley tour. Julia Snowden, an easy to like character is front and center for a "lights go out and then a shot rings out" staged scene from history. Only it wasn't staged and she must figure out who killed the actor. It becomes a bit twisted as it turns out that several people could have done it and it seems like the clues are adding up a bit too quickly. Highly entertaining and my first Busman Harbor mystery so I will be sure to look up others.

This is a fun 3 mini story book by 3 master cozy mystery authors. There is something for everyone and the three stories bring some popular characters together in this perfect for Halloween book.

Haunted House Murder is a compilation of three Halloween-themed short novellas by bestselling authors Leslie Meier, Lee Hollis, and Barbara Ross. Each includes the characters from their bestselling series.
Haunted House Murder by Leslie Meier finds Tinker’s Cove with new neighbors, Ty and Heather Moon, who have moved into a decrepit home that is purported to be haunted. Lucy Stone, unofficial amateur sleuth, gets involved when a local boy goes missing. Ty and Heather become suspects, since there are strange noises, strange lights, and other strange happenings going on at their house.

In this Halloween novella, Death by Haunted House by Lee Hollis, Hayley Powell gets new neighbors in the house next door after two years of sitting empty; the previous owner died under suspicious circumstances. The Salingers, who keep to themselves and are very secretive and strange, move in and Hayley overhears a loud and upsetting argument between Damien Salinger and his realtor. The realtor disappears, and of course Hayley suspects foul play, since she is always interested in putting her nose into murders and trying to solve them. This time, it may be the end for Hayley, because the Salingers are determined to keep themselves out of the picture and insist they are innocent when the body of the realtor is found. Hayley takes it too far and puts herself in danger.

Hallowed Out by Barbara Ross includes her fun and likeable character, Julia Snowden, in the small town of Busman’s Harbor, where a restaurant owner wants to re-enact an old gangster murder to celebrate Halloween. An actor from New Jersey comes up to be the star, but when the reenactment takes place, he ends up being shot dead from the gun that is supposed to contain blanks. Julia investigates and puts herself in grave danger.

These three novellas are fun, fast reads, and will make the Halloween season even more fun for those who enjoy cozies. As fans of the series’ already know, the books are well-written, the characters are likeable and familiar, and the plots are viable. Death by Haunted House and Hallowed Out both include recipes suitable for the Halloween season as a bonus. Highly recommended for cozy lovers who like these series.

Haunted House Murder by three of my favorite authors. October is a great time to read this book as they are all about Halloween and Haunted Houses. There was a murder in each story, but thankfully they were able to solve each one! Read and enjoy.

Since I didn't read all three stories in this book I will only be reviewing the two stories that I did read.

There was no murder in this story so the title is a little misleading, they should have left the word murder out of the title. The mystery is really only about the strange lights and sounds coming from the haunted house. The mystery is well written and somewhat engaging as it has you waiting for something to happen. I was annoyed with the attitudes of Lucy's daughter Sarah and Husband Bill, they were so wrapped in their own lives that they couldn't be bothered to help Lucy with the housework, cooking, running errands, or taking care of Patrick.

A murder really does take place in this story but it really doesn't have anything to do with a haunted house. The mystery is well written but I did find that it seemed to drag on just a little bit too long. I really couldn't stand Hayley's husband Danny, he acts like a big child and seems to make some situations much worse than they should have been. I did find it hard to believe that even though Hayley and Danny both suspect the neighbors of being murderers they send their two children over to the neighbors house to spy on them.

I received and arc of this book from Netgalley and Kensington Books for my review.
