Although I really like Ed Sheeran and his music, I found this book very well written if a little boring.

I thought this was a very well researched biography of Ed Sheeran. He has been one of my all time favorite singers EVER and it was amazing to be able to read about him and how he all started. It was very interesting how the author spent a long time with Ed and gathering all the information and interviews with Ed and everyone around him who helped him become who he is today. I kind of liked how each person that Ed comes in contact with the author does a little back story of them. The only thing that this novel did from making it a full five star is the last chapter. I do not get that chapter what so ever. What does Ed star sign have anything to do with him as a person. What was the point of that chapter? I basically flipped to the end because the star stuff did not agree with me.

I enjoy "celebrity" biographies and always take them with a grain of salt. The positive Sheeran, is that there isn't much bias or exaggerated heroic stories. The negative, this was the most dry writing I have read in a long time. It reads more like a Wikipedia page, with easily found biographical information all listed in order. Not really a story woven through, or any insider information that provides a personal connection.

Thank you to Net Galley for the ARC for an honest opinion.

Thank you so much to Diversion Books and NetGalley for the eARC in exchange for an honest review!

All I knew coming into the book was that I liked Ed's music, and casual comments that I had heard on radio interviews and such. I decided I liked him that time that he showed up at the (Grammys maybe? I don't remember?) In a tshirt and jeans when everyone else was dressed to the nines. So anyway, I thought this would be a good chance to learn more about Sheeran!

Factually I probably learned a lot, I was hoping for stories about song inspiration and growing up. While some of that was included, I really didn't care for the amount of erroneous background provided in the bio.

Smith's voice is pretty loud through out the book as well, where I feel like he really, really loves Sheeran but didn't give him much of a personality. Sometimes it's better to show examples than just to tell when describing a person.

I would recommend for people with a casual interest in Sheeran, sure, but I think hard core fans might not be learning a lot that they didn't know already. Exclusive interviews and the like would be more useful for those fans!

Thank you again to Diverson Books for the copy!

I am a huge fan of Ed Sheeran, have seen him in concert and have first hand experience with the energy he generates. I was very excited to receive an advanced copy and had been waiting for it to be released in October. I have watched his rise, listened to his music and was utterly disappointed in this book! It is dry, it drags, and in this reviewer's opinion does not fully represent Ed Sheeran. The narrative is without emotion, there is poor character development even though he is a real person, and it was boring. Very Disappointing!!

I wouldn't call this a Biogeography. This was more of a "Fanboy" research paper, turned fanatic, who decided to write about the person they obsess about. I took nothing out of this book that I could not already have Googled myself and looked up, including the interviews.

I hope that this is not an official biography because Ed Sheeran deserves a little better then just a "Groupie" sharing his opinions.

This book was pure trash.

How Ed became the success he is

My reason for reading this book was to find out how Ed Sheeran became the star he is. This fascinating biography definitely told me all I wanted to know.

Filled with plenty of interesting information about Ed’s life, from early days at school up to 2018, this biography talks about his family, friends, hard work and determination to succeed. In the early chapters I found it a little dry, but soon I became involved and fascinated.

I’m not a particular fan of Ed Sheeran, so skipped much of the information about the stories behind his songs, but for the purposes of finding out how a modern day musician became successful this is a great read.

There is a section at the end that gives an astrological assessment of Ed Sheeran (I skipped this), plus also a great list of dates of events in his life.

5*s from me, as though I skipped many parts that were not of interest to me personally, the book as a whole was a fascinating read. I highly recommend this biography to anyone interested in Ed Sheeran or in how to make it in the music world.

Very informative book! I thought I was pretty knowledgeable as far as Ed Sheeran is concerned, but I found myself learning all sorts of new and interesting facts! I loved having more backstory to find out what makes him who he is.

I love Ed Sheeran songs and many are classics. They remind me of kisses, weddings and my own love story with my husband.
This man is so talented and I couldn’t wait to read this. It’s a pretty straight forward Bio and I enjoyed learning about his family and all the musicians that influenced him. Some were Eric Clapton, Eminem, Green Day, Guns N’ Roses and Damien Rice just to name a few.
Ed Sheeran is nothing short of super persistent, enthusiastic and FEARLESS. He has in my opinion earned every right to be heard and become a famous talented singer/songwriter.
“Songwriting and playing the guitar are like having a direct line to my thoughts and feelings. Everyone has strong feelings whatever their age. We can all feel love, joy, longing, pain and hate.” -Ed Sheeran, Spinning Man

This is was a NETGALLEY gift and all opinions are my own.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publishers for allowing me to review this book!

I thought this provided great insight into Ed Sheeran, and how he became who he is today. It was very factual, readable, and moved along at a great pace. It was easy to follow the narrative of his life.

One thing I didn't love was the last part of the book, with all the stuff about zodiac signs and all that. I felt it was irrelevant and unnecessary to the book.

I do enjoy reading biographies so when I saw this book about Ed Sheeran I was keen to read it. I enjoy listening to his music but knew very little of his life otherwise.
Biographer Sean Smith covers many celebrities in his other books so perhaps understandably I found this book less personal and more stating facts that may be already known to more avid followers than me. He writes of Ed Sheeran's early life when he suffered with a stammer, his family background and the massive support he received off his parents. Smith goes on to tell of his search for fame, Ed's musical influences and the path to the success he is today.
I found it an interesting read but I would not detailed and personal for bigger fans than me.
I would like to thank both Net Galley and Diversion Books for supplying a copy of this novel in exchange for an honest review.
