You Deserve Each Other is a hilarious and realistic rom-com about two people who think their relationship is over. I loved seeing the two main characters get to know each other again and slowly reconnect when they realize they've actually been on the same side the whole time. Some readers may find these characters "unlikable" but their misunderstandings and motives ring true. A little miscommunication can go a long way with sabotaging a relationship. The characters really grow and learn how to take care of their partner throughout the book and the author perfectly captures the ebb and flow of relationships.

This book is so cute! I really enjoyed You Deserve Each Other and would definitely recommend as a fun romance novel for anyone in search of their next fun read. I really enjoyed that this one had a more unique premise- Naomi and Nick are already in engaged, and have fallen out of love. Neither of them wants to admit defeat and call of the wedding, and they engage in a series of funny events trying to get the other person to officially end the engagement. I thought that the pacing was a bit off on this one- it took me more than a hundred pages to really get into the character's and their storylines, but once I did I really enjoyed it from there.

This was not a spectacular story, but it had its funny moments and the ultimate ending for which I was hoping. It's a story about lovers turned enemies turned lovers again and while it was an entertaining read, it did not grab me like other rom-coms do. What I did appreciate about this story, however, were the emotional moments about marriage and what each person wants.

This was an interesting read. I didn’t enjoy all of it, not everything the characters said or did synced with me, but I liked that the book was different.

HATE/LOVE RELATIONSHIP

I love the enemies to lovers trope, and I felt that this book took the trope to the next level, with its hate/love vibe. The couple hated and loved each other, pushed buttons, exasperated and annoyed each other, sometimes to the extreme. BUT it worked for them. They were both doing it, both enjoying it at times, and both experienced a childish glee when maddening the other. In other words they truly DESERVED EACH OTHER!

THEIR CONNECTION

I thought it was interesting how well Naomi and Nicholas actually knew each other, even though they both thought the other didn’t know them at all. That speaks for them. I also loved that the couple was already in an established relationship, there aren’t that many romance books that follow couples already in a relationship. Which made the entire situation different.

MISCOMMUNICATION

Without a doubt the story was built on miscommunication, not talking to each other, assuming, pushing away, ignoring each other’s feelings. Because when it came to it, there was a reason whey they were together, they just forgot about it with all the drama they were creating.

Overall the book was an interesting take on the enemies to lover romance trope. Sometimes I wondered why they were together in the first place, but in the end, they truly loved each other.

I’m honest, there were times when I didn’t like either of them, especially Naomi. But they matched, they belonged together, because Nicholas could be as bad as Naomi.

So, after all this, I’m glad I read the book. It’s not a favorite of mine, but I applaud the author for going a different route. We need more books like this.

I loved the premise of this book! Naiomi and Nicholas are engaged but can not stand each other. They dont even know why they're together at all. But there's a catch. Whomever breaks off the engagement, is stuck paying for everything. So they start playing these elaborate pranks on each other. I laughed so hard. The writing was so good. I really felt like I lost myself in their lives. It was excellent!

Synopsis: Naomi is engaged to Nicholas, a man that she thought she loved. The problem is that she cannot stand him. He's a mama's boy who doesn't seem to take her feelings into account. But everyone around them thinks that they are the perfect couple. She knows that she can't just dump him-- she can't afford to pay his parents back for the lavish wedding his mom is planning-- so her plan is to drive Nicholas crazy until HE dumps HER.

This book gave me some serious How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days vibes. That was one of my favorite movies when it came out though, so that's not a bad thing. It was funny and entertaining with a little bit of sweetness. At first I didn't really like Naomi or Nick, but they both grew on me; Nick especially. By the end, I was rooting for the two of them! This is a cute beach read or just an "I need something simple and fun" type of book. Romance readers would definitely enjoy this one!

I absolute loved You Deserve Each Other. Sarah Hogle blew me away with her writing. This is one book I will be going back and reading again.

Naomi and Nicolas are engaged and things are just a little weird for them. Naomi feels like she’s missing something and doesn’t know about this whole engagement situation. Nicolas was such a mama’s boy, when she called he came running. Naomi get like she always came in second when she should be his number one priority.

Watching these two decide if they should make things work was such a fun journey. I laughed a lot and the banter between these characters.

I really enjoyed this book and can’t wait to read more from this author.

You Deserve Each Other by Sarah Hogle.

Naomi and Nicholas are engaged to be married but in their current state they can’t stand each other. Whoever breaks off the engagement has to foot the hefty wedding bill so they do everything in their power to piss each other off.

This was such a funny and cute book! I was laughing all the way through it. If you’re looking for a pick me up from a reading slump or just something that will make your stomach hurt from so much laughing then this is your book! 4⭐️

I love a good second-chance lovers story and this one has the added fun of them pretending to hate each other. This was so fun, flirty, and a perfect read to distract from the world right now.

This was a cute romance! This couple was engaged but had gotten to the point that they didn't like each other very much but neither had the guts to call of the wedding. Through a series of events he decides to try to woo her back. Really enjoyed this one!

Truth be told I struggled with my rating for this book. A lot. I’m blown away that this was Sarah’s debut novel. I was immediately hooked when I read the blurb. It was something refreshingly different in the lover to enemies to lovers trope. I mean, an engaged couple, in a battle of wills, a la War of Roses, to see who calls off their doomed relationship first? A grumpy heroine, a snooty hero, meddling parents, and plenty of tiny disasters combine for one amazing read. Seeing that so many of my friends loved this book, I went into it with pretty high expectations. And I think that may have played against me here, so take my review with a grain of salt.

I wish Nicholas were handsier—I mean handier,” I say, stealing the spotlight right back. “I’ve been performing maintenance duties by myself. But I’ve been getting better results, interestingly enough.” Nicholas’s stare is dehydrating. “Sounds unlikely.”
“Maintenance duties?” Deborah repeats, turning to him. “Has something broken? Naomi shouldn’t be trying to fix anything. She could make it worse.”
“I have no choice,” I tell her in a low, conspiratorial voice. “It’s a desperate situation…”

Admittedly, I struggled with the first 40% of the story. It dragged a little and I kept finding myself skimming. The characters felt a little blah and I just kept waiting for the moment they would jump off the pages for me. Luckily the second part of the book really brought that much needed zing. The banter here was amazing. The hilarious way Nicholas and Naomi tried to push each other into an out was entertaining as all get out. The fact that the story is written entirely in Naomi’s POV actually increased the enjoyment for me because I discovered the true depth of her fiance right as she did. There was something so magical about this. Granted I would have loved to be in Nicholas’s head a little bit, but that would have been icing on the cake.

This was a fun, light hearted romcom from an author that is now going straight to my auto buy list. If you’re looking for steam, this won’t have much of it, but the tiny bit that it had was a perfect fit. If you’re looking for a hilarious contemporary romance with plenty of banter and zing, this had it in spades.

I loved this book! I really was craving something that would make me smile, and this hit the spot. I laughed out loud multiple times at the main characters' spite, and found this story to fit into two of my favorite tropes - enemies to lovers and second-chance romance. The characters felt real and I believed their motives and emotions. I didn't want this one to end. Will be re-reading!

I'm going to be honest; I wanted to love this book. The description was right up my alley and it sounded so cute. However, I DNF'd it at 75%. It wasn't as good as I wanted it to be and I couldn't relate to the story.

Oh the mixed feelings. For the majority of You Deserve Each Other by Sarah Hogle I absolutely hated the main characters. I think I was supposed to hate them so I guess in that sense the author did a good job lol. But it was driving me nuts to figure out if I was just hating the characters or if I was hating the book as whole. It's a romance so there has to be a happy ending right? I just don't know if I had it in me to keep reading until the characters finally turn into decent human beings. In the end I'm happy I did because I actually loved the way this book turned out in the end. I do wish I didn't have to hate read the first 65 percent of it before there got to be any actual romance though.

A lot of readers have compared this book to the Hating Game and I usually like the enemies to lovers trope. I think my issue with You Deserve Each Other is that I can't wrap my head around the idea of staying engaged to someone you hate. Especially that level of hate. The petty was strong with both Nick and Naomi. This went far beyond just being complacent or bored or tired of a relationship, the two of them were actually trying to hurt each other. I'm probably overthinking the hell out of this since it's a work of fiction and there has to be some suspension of disbelief, but I think staying in a relationship that makes you miserable is insane. I guess I'd understand it more if I knew what went so wrong to get them to that point (I mean it can't just be neither of them standing up to his mom) and also I don't understand why neither of them would end it when they were both so miserable. I mean I get this is a romance so they have to stay together for the story to work but some of the awful things they'd done to each other seemed unforgivable to me and I didn't see how they could be redeemed.

As for the positives, You Deserve Each Other is definitely funny and there were several laugh out loud moments. I actually enjoyed the relationships the author created between the main characters and the secondary characters. Deborah was certainly entertaining if nothing else. And while I usually don't like first person pov, it works in this book. I could tell all the way through that this author is very talented. The writing style flowed very well and the story did hold my interest. But the first 2/3s of this book drove me bonkers. I really wish more of the book had been dedicated to Naomi and Nick rediscovering their romance and a lot less time had been given to them being miserable to each other. I actually really enjoyed reading their comeback. It was super sweet when they finally started communicating and being honest with each other. I really loved the end of this book but I don't know if a HEA is truly believable after all the crap they'd put each other through. I'm truly conflicted on this one because the end was sooo good. This would have been a homerun for me if it hadn't taken them so long to get it together. I'll definitely give Sarah Hogle a try again in the future because she's truly a talented author, this one just wasn't my cup of tea.

This was such a fun book! These two are ridiculous, but I was laughing so much as I followed their antics.
Perfect for fans of The Hating Game.

This was everything I was looking for. There is such heavy angst and also incredibly sweet and fluffy moments that fed into my romance loving side. I love how the relationship was worked on. I found myself genuinely laughing out loud without even realizing it. This is a true enemies to lovers.

At first I was not completely convinced by this book, but the plot thickens really fast and the couple's love-hate relationship becomes addictive. I couldn't put it down once I understood why Naomi and Nicholas ended up being so bitter and cruel with each other.

This novel seems to be a romantic comedy and it is, I guess; you'll definitely laugh A LOT, but it also has a nostalgic touch to it that moves the reader. Not to mention that there a couple of heartbreaking scenes and dialogues that almost made me cry. So many repressed fears and emotions! I loved that, although I felt terribly sorry for the characters.

This novel talks about how important communication and mutual effort are in a relationship. It talks about the different forms and expressions of love, and despite it is never mentioned in the novel, I do think the manner in which the characters' feelings are described suggest something far more complex than just a routine-tired couple. Maybe an underlying emotional crisis or depression. I don't know, but some parts were simply devastating. I liked this novel more than I expected, although the end was a little bit too cheesy for me, since I was used to a very cocky and sarcastic dynamic between the protagonists by then.

Nicholas and Naomi are going to get married in a few months, they pretend in front of others that they are a happy couple, but silence suffocates them when they get home. She is fed up with him and especially with his mother, who not only controls every detail of her wedding but also the man who should be spoiling her. He takes refuge in a condescending and disinterested attitude to ignore the truth: that their wedding is a horrible mistake. And yet, no one is willing to cancel it. Well, in fact Naomi wants Nicholas to carry that burden. She is willing to be as annoying, childish, and selfish as necessary in order for him to dump her.

The book tells the story of Naomi and Nicholas relationship. They are both about to get married, but for some reasons, they feel pressured, and they reach a point where they cannot bear it anymore. Furthermore, living under the same house shouldn't be easy. Naomi always showed herself as an understanding and helpful girlfriend. Nicholas on the other hand as the reserved and unsympathetic boyfriend. Things change when the two realize that they don't want to be husband and wife, but neither wants to pay the hundreds of thousands that the wedding preparations cost. Therefore, the only solution is to sabotage their relationship, which doesn't exist.

I really liked the dynamics of the characters; it was the first time that I read a story with a love-have- ? pattern. At first, I didn't see the chemistry between them and that was because there was none. If it had been Naomi, I would've already given up. Honestly, I thought the plot would be different, that Naomi would leave Nicholas for another guy, but I was so surprised, the story was different and I realized it when I read the synopsis 😂.

I could identify myself with Naomi, especially in the work area, she doesn't have a stable job and I could feel her frustration completely because the idea of depending on your future husband, it isn’t ideal and competing with him because he earns more, worse. The poor thing also suffers from the passive-aggressive behavior of Nick's mother; the woman is unbearable, too manipulative. I liked Naomi as a character, of course, she isn't perfect, and she does everything possible to sabotage their relationship, but she shows her true colors and I love it when she and Nicholas become in the dynamic duo to defend themselves against comments and attitudes of other people.

Speaking of Nick, I would've liked to read his point of view since the book is only told by Naomi. At first, I couldn’t stand him, I didn't know what were his intentions regarding the relationship, whether to save it or not. However, I realized that his attitude towards Naomi was because of her attitude, he's also guilty of not being attentive, but that completely changes when he shows his true self. And, what about his relationship with his mother? Well, since it's only Naomi's point of view, she tells us that he's the good son, who wants to always please his mother and that makes her take advantage of him. Then we find out what's the truth and you feel sorry for the boy since he really is a golden boy.

Something I didn't like was the long chapters and the story gets stuck in the middle of the book, I was already tired of witnessing all the jokes and discussions, I felt that we weren't moving forward. And for me, the ending was uncompleted. Where's Nick's mother's reaction when she finds out what the couple did?

It was a light read, I needed it, and I was able to fully enjoy it, I will definitely read another book of the author. Thank you to PRH International for the free e-book.

OMG this book was everything! I am absolutely blown away that this is a debut! It was fantastic, like so good that when I finished it, I started reading it again! I’m kicking myself for not reading this sooner. I’ll admit the blurb was confusing and when I started reading, I was trying to figure out what was happening. The story starts out really slow and honestly, I almost DNF this book, but I pushed further and I’m so happy I did! Everything changed after those first couple chapters. You finally know what’s going on, and there were so many funny moments, and amazing chemistry between two excellent characters.

Naomi and Nicholas have been dating for almost two years, and are engaged to be married in 3 months. Everything has changed in their relationship since they got engaged, and they don’t know how they got here or what to do about it. They have both hit the end of their ropes, and have decided to get the other one to break up with them, so they don’t have to pay for the wedding. They begin pulling pranks on each other, which were so darn hilarious. I was literally cackling to the point that my husband thought something was wrong with me! There are some really horrible characters in their family and workplaces that added to the story quite well. All of a sudden they are both fighting against the same people and beginning to fall back in love with each other. Both characters were so easy to love and you can understand how things went so wrong between them. It had a lot of great messages about relationships. I enjoyed this so much. It will most likely be in my top books for the year. If you didn’t already guess, I would highly recommend this one, and I am so excited to see what this author puts out next!

As a thank, you to Netgalley and the publisher ( G.P. Putnam's Sons) for an advanced readers copy of Sarah Hogle’s debut novel “ You Deserve Each Other”. The novel had been introduced as a lover to enemies to lovers romantic comedy and after reading this I can certainly agree that it lived up to its expectation. The novel follows Naomi Westfield and Nicholas Rose as they navigate their first year as a newly engaged couple. What I enjoyed from this novel was the interesting look at the couple's interpersonal dynamic and exploration of what makes them a couple and why. As Naomi and Nicholas communicate to those around them but each other makes for an interesting romantic comedy bringing to life the notion of second chances and love within an established relationship. I found this refreshing as most romantic novels center around a newly established relationship. The writing was straightforward and held my attention. I heard its audiobook and read-a-long on my kindle. Overall I enjoyed this novel and give it a strong 4 out of 5 stars on Goodreads.
