Really let down by this one. I went in with an open mind but was let down overall. Couldn't find myself caring about the characters.

3.5 Stars ( I received an e-arc from Net Galley in exchange for an honest review)

I didn’t realize this book was a part of a companion series, but now I’m interested in reading the rest of the series. Also this a short book under 150 pages, which one can easily read in a couple hours. This was a cute little F/F romance between Jenn and Sasha who met when Sasha was dating Henry, Jenn’s brother. The two kiss and that leads to something further. They meet again 3 years later when Sasha is contracted to do some design work for Henry’s firm and attend the same company gala. Jenn is now a hairdresser and is very protective over her brother, mostly out of the guilt she feels for causing the end of Sasha and Henry’s relationship. Somehow they end up getting together for dinner and end up dating secretly. But after a while Sasha is tired of keeping the relationship a secret but Jenn is terrified of telling Henry since the breakup messed him up for a while. On Christmas Eve Sasha shows up at the family house a little tipsy to talk to Jenn, though no one can see them and have an emotional kiss. However her brother sees this through the home security app that he has just setup for the family home. Jenn finally has to address the issue and breaks down crying telling him that she really does love Sasha and they are serious. This culminates with the new couple coming for dinner with all the family and their partners. Also there is extremely cute bonus content updating us on the future of all the series characters.

I didn't really enjoy this one as much asI thought I would. I did find it to be a little interesting. I wanted more then we got from it.

I will pretty much read anything if it has queer characters, so I was excited to take a stab at this book when I got it from NetGalley.  However Whiskey Flick ended up not being for me.

From poor writing, to repetitive storylines, inconsistent POV changes and two dimensional characters... Pretty much everything about this story bugged the hell out of me. Jenn was the most annoying character. I hate characters who ruin their lives because they just can't make themselves communicate with family and friends. And I know this is realistic, but it's still a trope that makes me want to throw a book away every single time.

On top of all that I just didn't buy the romance. While I appreciate straight romance authors trying to be more diverse, you really need to hire editors or sensitivity readers. It will make your story and characters far more authentic.

So yeah, overall meh story. I skimmed a lot of it and gave it two stars on Goodreads.

read as a box set

falling in love with your brother's girlfriend can be a little awkward. Especially if you are his sister.

Whiskey Everything is everything funny, sexy and entertaining.four standalone stories that are loosely connected through family and friends. Great characters and stories that will make you laugh and fall in love with them. the four characters are different with different experiences that lead them to love. When whiskey if involved anything can happen.

An honest review thanks to NetGalley. This was an ok book, there was a lot of backstories that I did not know as I did not read the previous book in the story. The relationship between the two characters seemed superficial to me and at the end felt a little unbelievable. It was a short and light romantic read but I will more than likely not be picking it up again.

Talk about the unexpected! I had no idea what I was getting myself into reading this book. I really wanted to finish the series out. So it wasn’t for me is an understatement. However the writing was really good. And I will continue to read books by this author.

First thoughts on hearing the synopsis, I was excited for a forbidden romance between the two characters. It has some humor, and the sibling relationship is strong.
However, it wasn't for me. I didn't get the best out of Jenn and Sasha's relationship, and the jumps in time threw me off a bit. I would've liked to have understood exactly what makes Jenn and Sasha a good couple, considering in certain parts of the book that they argue. Quite viciously in fact, where Sasha accuses Jenn of constantly running away, ignoring and being immature. Then Jenn just takes it, and for me that didn't make me want them to really be together. Maybe I'm missing parts in other books where they all know each other and there's more development. But I didn't get to know these characters, so it was more difficult to me to root for characters. However, I did appreciate the strong sibling bonds, and the nice family aspect. I'm going to rate it 2/5 stars.

This is part of the ‘Whiskey’ Series but each story is a standalone. Jenn is a hairdresser who has a few good women but she’s really waiting for a woman who is great. Although, she’s met her already but she also happens to be the woman who broke up with her brother and broke his heart. Sasha hasn’t seen Jenn or her brother, Henry, for three years but her firm has been selected to remodel the company Henry works at.

It’s light and fun with lots of humour. Jenn and Sasha have a great connection even though there is a lot of pushing and pulling. An honest conversation or two would have resolved all the complications before they even started but then there would be no book to read.

Quick, entertaining read.

I love this series by Ryan Ringbloom! Whiskey Dick and Whiskey Chick are both hilarious and Whiskey Trick did a great job of redeeming Henry since I wasn't such a fan of his after reading Whiskey Chick . Perhaps it redeemed him too well because I spent a lot of this book feeling a lot of angst that Jenn had kinda betrayed him. But then Ryan Ringbloom went and redeemed Jenn in the epilogue and I felt a lot better about this book. Although this book wasn't as lighthearted as the previous three books, it is a nice conclusion to the series.

Whiskey Flick

I Picked Up This Book Because: Continue the "series"

The Characters:

Sascha:
Jenn:
Remi, Henry, Tina

The Story:

I have to start out saying I didn’t really bond with the characters in this book. I didn’t even start to care what was happening until mutual heartbreak happened. (I know that says something about me but I do not care to explore what) It was a long slog through the first 63 pages. I read the remaining 50 pages in just one night but I had to purposely decide to buckle down and commit. There is nothing wrong with Sascha and Jenn, I just had trouble connecting. Remi brought much needed comic relief to the story and in the end, I did enjoy the book. And I really liked the multiple epilogues.

The Random Thoughts:

I'm a little upset with myself for reading out of order. This isn’t technically a series but the characters are connected from book to book and I might have enjoyed this book more had I gotten to know Sascha and Jenn in Henry’s book (Whiskey Trick)

Nice way to conclude the Whiskey books featuring the siblings that came in on Whiskey Chick (I have not read Whiskey Dick). I surprisingly enjoyed Whiskey Chick -- the summary alone made me hesitate on picking up the e-read -- and thought Whiskey Trick was the strongest of this trio, but Flick was ok, though very predictable. Author Ryan Ringbloom did a great job connecting the dots with this series and I look forward to reading more from her.

Ryan Ringbloom is back with another in the Whiskey series of romantic comedies! I loved her previous book Whiskey Trick about Henry and his dating problems. Whiskey Flick features Henry's sister Jenn and his ex almost finace Sasha. Henry never understood why Sasha left him. Jenn knew exactly why they broke up and now that Sasha is back in town things are about to get very uncomfortable!

Funny, face-paced and sure to make your heart beat faster!

Thanks to the author, #XpressoBookTours and #NetGalley for letting me read this advanced copy of #WhiskeyFlick in return for an honest opinion.

Wow, I was looking through the feedback and noticed that i did not give this anything. I totally forgot, the thing is I from the start thought that this story might be heavy. it's so strange to fall in love with someone one of your family was with. So when during my read I was prying for those who went through such thing. its well written book. sometimes I thought were over the top drama and not necessary otherwise i liked it

thank you for the free copy

Although this book was one of a series, you don't need to read the others; you can read this as a standalone. It was a quick read, which was ok, but it lacked any depth. I felt the 'bonus scenes' were a bit of a cop-out, and the author could have fleshed the main story out more instead. I found one of the main characters, Jenn unlikeable, which is never good in a romance unless they're an antagonist. On the plus side, the writing itself was good.

I think this book had a lot of potential but I think it could've done a bit more. In this book Jenn is crushing on her brother Henry's, the hero from Whiskey Trick, girlfriend Sasha. After Sasha breaks up with her brother she comes to Jenn to admit that she has feelings for her and they end up sleeping together but then Jenn breaks off contact from her, not wanting to betray her brother. This book is set three years later when Sasha comes to work for Henry's firm for a while and the two girls end up running into each other once again.

This series is a lot of fun, it's not very serious and each of the books only takes about an hour to read so I wasn't expecting anything too much but I think this one lacked a bit compared to the other books. I actually liked the romance, it's a trope I wouldn't usually read, but I just don't feel we got that much of it. I would've liked more of these two just together and happy instead of constantly worrying about what Henry thought. I also really hated how Jenn kept telling Sasha to come out and totally dismissing her fears over it. She acted as though coming out was no big deal nowadays which is obviously not at all true in a world where many people are still harmed just for coming out.

Overall, this series has been a lot of fun and it was good to see all the characters finally get their happily ever afters. I liked that Ryan Ringbloom included a f/f romance in a series that otherwise has all been m/f, it's great to see an author bringing about more diversity. If you want something fun, light and easy i'd definitely recommend this book, well this whole series really, it's perfect if you just want something simple to make you smile.

I received a copy of this book from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review – thanks as always to Netgalley for sending me an ARC of this book!

Whiskey Flick was a fun forbidden f/f romance that I thoroughly enjoyed. The concept of this intrigued me from the onset. Here we have two women, Sasha and Jenn, who like each other a lot, but there’s a spanner in the works – namely the fact that Sasha used to date Jenn’s brother. Sasha’s feelings for Jenn tore her relationship with Henry apart, and it took him years to recover. Jenn knows there’s no way she can possibly date her brother’s ex, because it would be the height of betrayal… but she can’t resist her anyway.

I enjoyed this a LOT, and I’d say it’s one of my favourite sapphic romances I’ve ever read. That being said, I feel kind of like I was robbed, and though I’m not really that mad about it (I loved the book regardless) I think this story could have gone a lot deeper, and if it had done so it would probably have made my favourites list.
Whiskey Flick is a novella, and I’m always a little wary of those. I find when you condense a romance to that extent, it can feel underdeveloped and the characters never really step off the page. That book did not suffer from this at all in the sense that all the characters were fully realised, they felt genuine and fleshed out, the relationship was believable and I totally bought into it… but we get none of the satisfaction of seeing any of this happen. One minute the two characters are starting to get to know each other after several years of no-contact, and then all of a sudden there’s a time-jump spanning several months and we’re watching these two women in a committed relationship which was sweet as pie but had no build-up whatsoever. Most of their relationship takes place off the page, meaning that although I shipped them super hard and loved the interactions we did see, I just felt like we didn’t get to see ENOUGH. Show me all the little moments where they fall in love! Let me see their story! We got glimpses, but I was desperate for more, especially considering that the parts we did get were so strong and felt so real and perfect. On the whole, I’d say it’s one of the better romance novellas I’ve read, but I still didn’t feel entirely satisfied when I reached the end. There were a bunch of bonus scenes at the end of the book that featured other characters in the series, and as someone who read this as a standalone, I really would have preferred it if that extra space had been taken up by Sasha/Jenn content. Because I loved them!! The energy they exuded, their chemistry, all of it was off the charts, I just wanted so much more!

On another note, there were a few things I’d like to touch on that made me feel a little bit wary. Firstly, Sasha is described early in the book as ‘exotic.’ Yikes. I feel like this is becoming well-known as a dodgy descriptor for multiracial characters, so yeah, maybe don’t do that. Secondly, there’s a scene where Sasha mentions temporarily considering she might be bisexual and Jenn totally shoots her down, as if being bi is ridiculous and/or unlikely. Again, yikes. Thirdly, Jenn also derides Sasha for being afraid to come out to her family. This struck me as a bit unrealistic – Jenn is a lesbian, she would have firsthand experience of how terrifying and difficult it can be to come out, and so I found her initial lack of empathy to be a bit out of place. However, this is resolved later.

Overall, these are small blips in a book I very much enjoyed, so while I would advise readers to be aware of them, they didn’t ruin the book for me by any means. This book had just the right balance of drama, humour, cuteness and steamy moments, and I had a great time reading it. I’d have loved to see it expanded and really make the most of the fantastic chemistry these characters had, but I very much enjoyed it regardless and would recommend it to anyone looking for a fun f/f read.
