One of my favorite things about Newbell's studies and books are her stories about being a new Christian, throwing off legalism and embracing grace. She loved Jesus, studies God's word with fervor, and here, ties it all to the theme of running a race. Good for a Bible study.
I found Sacred Endurance by Trillia Newbell to be full of Truth from His Word and encouragement to keep on going for the right reasons. It’s called endurance for the call of Christ. A call to keep on pressing forward despite the hard things, despite the things that try to derail us, that try to trip us up. The point or goal of this book is to encourage us to run the race in such a way to hear the long-awaited words of “Well done, good and faithful servant.”
I received a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

Newbell continues to challenge her readers in areas and gives hope of growth and life in others. A new and intriguing way to look at life.
Well written with lots of Biblical applications. Enjoyed reading it and applying what I learned. Highly recommend
A life of faith isn't guaranteed to be an easy one.
Our lives are a marathon of faith, and there are miles where we will be weary and feel like giving up. This an inspiring and encouraging read about not giving up the race, and accepting God's grace and strength for every step of it.
Easy to read Trillia J. Newbell uses personal experiences as well as multiple passages of Scripture to show how God gives us strength and endurance. Once we are His, no one can snatch us out of the Father's hand.
Through every challenge God gives us the strength and faith to endure, though difficult relationships and sin try to discourage us. Hard times will come, but God is there and will provide strength for our labor. I was encouraged and inspired by this book, I thought it was a very timely read. Highly recommend this well written, encouraging, theologically sound book.
I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
I received an ARC from IVP Books via NetGalley this review is my personal opinion.
What a great book, I can only say a good thing about this book. Lovely and unexpected, with a biblical focus; Trillia Newbell opens up and in my case the answer to many questions I had for a time now. I like that she says it, that this book was not: How to.. You name it. But how at the end this Christian life, is not a race to be won fast. But only by the grace and power of God in us. I like the remainder of how important is for us to get rather of all that takes us away from God. But it must important how(even do we don’t want to) we will sin and do and say the wrong thing. But that God will never reject us and that he cares is about my heart and not my performance. I must say this book confronts me about my motivations and how they need to be rooted in Christ. It remained me that everything I think I need to do to “gain” God’s love or favor, I’m saying that his sacrifice in the cross was incompleted; just wow!
This quote was one of my favorites:” We think that our success and others, our joy, our circumstances, and all that God will do or will not according on how we act, pray or think”
On to examine our lives, to not ignore the sorrows and the pain, but to hold on the truth of who he is. None likes to purposefully suffer, but to endure and for our character to be built, is not going to be easy. But like Trillia Newbell reminds us through the book we are not alone That at the end we live in the fallen world, but we need each other, that is important to belong to a good community that helps us grow in the love of Christ.
I believe this book is a must-read for all Christians, with a fresh and approachable language. Trillia Newbell gives us a guideline and opens up to in any case important themes that sadly have been misunderstood. We also have the questions discussion for those reading in a group. I think that will be interesting and an opportunity to shared and build a friendship.
Truly grateful to IVP for the ARC of this book.
In Sacred Endurance, Trillia Newbell shares from the Bible and from her own experiences how we should run with endurance the race that God has called us to. She speaks in a loving and encouraging way about how we should live our lives as those who love Jesus; you feel that you are hearing from a friend. This is a book that every Christian could benefit from reading.
I have read other books by Trillia Newbel and I enjoy them a lot. I like her clear style. This title in particular made me think about how much life takes from me and how much everything depend on God's control. I need to keep going, endurance, perseverance, faith, and his grace will sustain me through it all. If you want to ponder about this topic this will encourage you. It is friendly to read alone or with friends. I'll keep looking for her titles.
I love Trillia Newbell and all the work she does on racial reconcilation, diversity and representing women in the SBC. However, I did not love this book. While it was biblically rich and accurate, it didn't address the issues I expected it to address - and I felt it was a little bit more of a "primer" on the Christian faith than a book about endurance. It covered so many topics in such a short book that it felt at times disjointed and all over the place. However, this book may be enjoyed more by a brand new believer or someone with little faith background.
If you are new to the Christian faith, this may be a helpful resource. If not, there are dozens of other resources and books I'd recommend before this one. It never hooked me and honestly, I skimmed the second half of the book because it was repetitive the entire way through.
A well-written, challenging book on living an authentic Christian life in these troubling times in which we live. The author does not just base this on her own opinion, but shares Scripture to help convict and encourage us along the way. This is a book to return to again when events in life seem out of control. I liked her personal examples she used to help apply these principles, but also the straightforward way this author challenged us to walk worthy of the Lord.
I received a copy of this book from the publisher. All opinions are my own.
I have been a big fan of Trillia Newbell and when I saw she had a new book coming out, I knew I wanted to read it.
Sacred Endurance:Finding Grace and Strength for a Lasting Faith is her newest book. In this book, she talks about a faithful godly life until the end. Trillia writes in a way that is easy to understand but also is centered on truth.
So much of our life here on earth can make enduring hard. Trillia points us back to the greater hope we have in Jesus. She helps us to see how we can endure because of Him. When the day to day wears us down, this book is one we can recall and remind ourselves of the truth. I’m grateful for Trillia for writing it.
I was blessed to receive an electronic copy via the publisher. All opinions are my own.
The author offers a plethora of Scriptures to encourage her readers to patiently wait on God's timing. While this book wasn't a quick read, it does offer its readers a lot of really good, Biblical advice.
Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC of this book. All opinions are my own.
“Because he first pursued us, we can pursue him with sacred endurance.”
This book will encourage you, challenge you, and draw your heart towards Jesus. Trillia Newbell communicates how to live faithfully as a follower of Christ in the midst of hardships and the mundane—and she does it beautifully!
I’m incredibly grateful for this book, and I’ll be recommending it to everyone I know!
Trillia’s writing is always warm, personal, and deeply encouraging, and this book is no exception. Sacred Endurance is a call to live a faithful Christian life, but doesn’t come across as at all preachy, unattainable, or shallow. Trillia offers personal stories, scriptural truths, and wonderful encouragement from a fellow Christian. One of the most encouraging books I’ve read this year, and one I will definitely read again.
