What a fascinating book. I was impressed by the storyline and the characters were all well written and complex. Where there are complex storylines combined with intriguing characters the reader experience is magnified tremendously. To have a book that is well written as well as entertaining is a delight. Reading is about escaping your world and entering another one. The word building was phenomenal in this book. Here I forgot about my own life and was immersed in the world created by the author. I would recommend this book.

Different that what I normally read, but I enjoyed it a great deal. I always tell people that if a book sounds interesting to them then they should read it regardless of what other people say. I stand by that advice.

Really good debut paranormal romance. Ticks all my boxes for an enjoyable steamy romance read. I look forward to more from this author.

Okay, where to start with this one?
I liked this, especially the premise and the supernatural aspect of things.
However, I didn't see the connection between both main characters at all. They fell in 'lust' but not in love in my opinion.
I also feel like all the drama could have been avoided if they just talked to each other instead of tearing their clothes of every time they interacted.

I did like that Phoebe was a kick-ass female though.

Thank you so much Netgalley for the e-book in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own and not influenced in any way.
.
I have always been a huge fan of paranormal fantasy and I really loved the blurb of this book that I decided to pick it up. This book follows our main characters: exiled, determined, head-strong witch Phoebe Atreus, and immortal, determined, secretly soft-hearted King of Vampires Lucien Silvano. It deals with how both the characters meet, and overcome all struggles to figure out what they want and fulfill their words whilst dealing with their growing attraction for one another.
.
First, I loved the personalities of our two main characters and how they meet is just the best scene ever! The distinct personality they both have gives you a wholesome experience while reading. The arc in the character growth is not much when you read, but they do evolve wrt the story-line. All the side characters introduced were justified and it was not too much.
.
Second, I really loved the different scenes where it's just Lucien trying to help Phoebe out of sticky situations and her ignoring him. Sometimes it might feel like she is being too harsh towards him, but then he justifies it by being stupid and making stupid decisions. The flow of the story was quite good at times and it was funny to read the banter between the two as well. It deals with a lot of family relationships, and how the characters deal with the loss of them as well. It discusses a heavy topic while keeping the tone of the scene light as well.
.
When it comes to the character relationship, I think the romance between them is justified by the fact that they are mates, but I could have used some more compatibility between the two. Plus sometimes you just wonder why all the drama is happening when the solution is pretty simple. Sometimes, the connection between the scenes seemed too abrupt and it disrupted the flow of the story, but otherwise, it was quite connected to read. The one thing I would have loved more is to see some more good conversational banter between our two main characters.
.
Overall, I really loved the plotline, the characters, the banter between the two, the caveman actions and that ending! If you love paranormal or romance, definitely check this book out! It ended in a really nice scene and I can't wait to read the next book in the series!

This book hooked me from the beginning. I have been craving a good erotic, paranormal read and this fulfilled that craving. The book delves immediately into the steamy region and then provides an interesting story to back it up! I became incredibly invested in the storyline created and my heart broke more than once as the drama unfolded, I cannot wait to read the sequel.

I recommend this book to anyone that enjoys an erotic read, with an actual storyline, and a paranormal flair.

This one was a take or leave it story for me. Although I did get a great story about vampires I felt like this one was missing something. Also just so you guys know. Even though it says that this book was released it still says coming soon which is disappointing. The story was well paced and the ending was good. The characters were fully formed for the most part. But overall, I think it could have used a little more polish.

It's been awhile since I read a book about vampires so I was pretty excited about this one. Queen of vampire hearts was good but not gripping enough. Lucien wasn't alpha enough for me and Phoebe was getting on my nerves.

***This is my unbiased opinion. I was given this ARC in return for my honest review.***

The book wasn't bad. However, I don't think it was for me. The writing was good, the plot was interesting. But for whatever reason, I found myself stuck a third of the way through the book with no motivation to make it to the end. Nothing against the author - like I said the writing wasn't bad at all. I believe this book just wasn't for me.

Wow - I am completely shocked by this book! At the start, it seemed like it would be your typical smutty erotica, but this was so much more! Don't get me wrong, there is a lot of dirty good times, but there was a lot of solid world building and story that made this more than your standard read.

Phoebe is a really powerful witch on the run from the ruling witch council. She made a mistake and trusted her vampire ex-boyfriend with some witch secrets and was sentenced to death. Lucien is a jaded vampire king, tired of life and just biding time. At an orgy (of course) he is drawn to a stranger who just so happens to be the most wanted witch ever. He doesn't know that, and this is where all the secrets and miscommunication begin.

This world has everything supernatural - gods, vampires, werewolves, witches, curses, magic, and different realms. Throw in a confusing and fated relationship, and you've got Phoebe and Lucien's story. Watching them build a life together (and almost destroy it) was completely engaging. I couldn't put this book down! The end gives you all the happy feels, but leaves you wanting more. Where's the next book? I need it now!

This is one of those cases where the synopsis lured me in, but I ended up having mixed, conflicted, opinions about the overall book. First, let me start off with what I liked. Phoebe’s powers were pretty dang awesome, folks. It seemed natural in an unnatural world for her to yield them so effortlessly. Over the last decade, she was used to summoning the power and courage to stay alive and ahead of those out to destroy her. Lucien instantly falling for her and looking to keep her as his lady love (aka his mate) struck the right cord with my romantic heart. His unrelenting, domineering determination to do so evolved to a heart felt love for her, folks. The overall gist of how Phoebe’s perilous situation finally unfolded was pretty good, though it happened at a snail’s pace until its rapid fire conclusion.

Now here’s some elements that got in the way of my enjoyment. #1 This 3,000+ year old immortal leading man had a history of being an OTT manho. Woman, man, any type of mortal or immmortal creature … we were told it didn’t matter….He’s been there, done that. Yeah, that wasn’t an ideal set up for me. It was only due to the fact he fell for and was so overly alpha protective of Phoebe that I had to try to forgive and forget that piece of unwelcome background. #2 OTT smex scenes often hijacked the storyline and gave off the impression this book was going to have more steam than substance. They were at the drop of a hat, overly enthusiastic to the point they came off too desperate and crass. Seriously, the script there just didn’t cut it with me. I was glad when they tapered off and more focus was on an actual plot. #3 It is not a good sign when in one chapter an event plays out told from the point of view of one main character, then chapter two is the exact same words/rehashing from the other person’s POV. I got it the first time, folks. It’s a waste of my time and the story line to repeat it. That is a mistake I’ve often seen debut authors make. At least it only happened once right from the get go. #3 The never ending, constant reiteration of this heroine’s rules of why she can’t trust anyone. I got that, too. I didn’t need her list of rules to be recited a zillion times. That finally tapered off, as well. The epilogue that opens the door to another sequel felt thrown in without too much thought. Introducing an out of the blue sub-character at the last minute will do that, folks.

As someone who dabbles in this genre, I almost always enjoy it. I just struggled with how parts of this were written. It was very slow paced and quite uneventful through a large portion. If I mentally weed all that out, I found I enjoyed the underlying main couple’s romantic journey. It was just riddled with what I would term newbie rookie romantic author mistakes here and there. Making it tricky for me to rate the really good vs the not so great aspects.

Title: Queen of Vampire Hearts, Author: Jeanette Rose, debut author, happy for now ending, very graphic smex, obviously meant to be a very lusty read, slow paced, had some issues with the consistency of the writing, good unexpected twist/boost for the heroine near the end. Rating: 3 - 3.5 stars

Lucien was a three thousand year old immortal vaunted and feared king of the vampires. He was a legendary predator and played, was bored. Given he was in the midst of a massive orgy. That was saying something. All the ways he used to while away his time was falling flat. Immortality was nothing more than a constant battle against eternal boredom. Then he heard her say “ the only immortal not participating in a Fae orgy . How could I resist my natural curiosity?” He was never caught unawares till now, but he hid it as he turned to see the most stunning creature he ever laid eyes on. He could barely stop from yanking her to him. She told him she had never been to an event like this. But he could smell her arousal. She wanted him. She said she had seen him inside totally bored by the proceedings and why should she have a student when she could have the master? Phoebe was only at this event to find someone who could track the untraceable. Despite the length of her fruitless search, she still followed every lead hoping just one of these wild chases would lead her to someone able to help her. Phoebe was a witch and that is why she had come to the fae palace as none of her people would be there. The lead Phoebe was following was a Demon Of Eris-Antonius, who supposedly could find anything in all the Realms. Her flaming red hair constantly drew attention and she didn’t want to draw attention to herself. Her hair tied her to her parents she couldn’t sever, no matter what the cost. She saw Lucien get slapped and then shrugged at the other immortals who looked to see. He seemed to be bored with the whole spectacle. Desire spiked through Phoebe. She moved along the walls to keep track of the man. Unable to resist her natural curiosity she followed him. Then she went out on the balcony where he was. She told him they could do anything but have actual sex. Lucien got her off and came on her butt. The the fae queen-Titania- came out and said Walifrie was looking for him about something urgent. Lucien asked her to wait here for him while he went to see what Walifrie-the Lycan King- thought was urgent. She tied his pants together and said she didn’t want anyone else seeing that. Lucien liked her jealousy. Phoebe hadn’t planned on messing around with anyone. She waited for him to leave so she could rift away. Most immortals couldn’t create rifts between the realms and no one could do it as easily as Phoebe could. Her apartment was in New Orleans. She was looking for her ex-Malcolm who had stolen both her ancestral spell books- grimoires. Her ex was a vampire. That had been ten years ago. Ten years with no friends, no family, no roots. Phoebe rarely stayed anywhere longer than three months at a time.
Excellent book. I loved it. It did end in a cliffhanger of sorts but the original story had already ended for the most part. This may sound confusing, so read this great paranormal book and you will see. This book has: vampires, ogers, nymphs, lycans, dryads, fae, witches, demons, sirens and so much more. I loved Lucien and phoebe together and how they interacted. My heart broke when Lucien was the reason Phoebe got caught and brought back to the witches Council. I loved the ending. I loved the pace and plot. I loved the closeness between Lucien and Erik. I didn’t want to put this down and only did for a little sleep. I loved the characters and the ins and outs and I highly recommend this book.

I like the writing style. It's pretty direct and easy to get into. Expressive and well described. The point of view switches back and forth between hero and heroine, allowing for fuller perspectives of everything that's happening.

The fantasy elements have potential. There are references to really interesting types of mythological races that I rarely see mentioned, ever. Like norns, shades, and oracles. Some descriptions of the settings do a good job describing how magical the world is.

The romance, for the most part, shows promise. The characters somewhat hold back from fully giving themselves to each other, but there are still a ton of steamy scenes. It's a pretty clever mix of slow burn yet still showing a lot of intimacy between the characters. Not quite erotica, but there are far more little risqué scenes than the average romance, even if they're often of a teasing nature.

I like that the hero falls first and the heroine needs more time to get to know and trust him. Their relationship evolves with each page. There are a lot of ups and downs that add depth to their interactions, and a satisfying resolution. I appreciated that when the characters make mistakes, they do try to right them and end up growing as a couple.

Now about the things I didn't like so much. The side characters aren't impactful. I know romances are about the two main characters, but I've seen many that have a compelling side character that make you want to know more about them or read books from their point of view. The only character that struck me as remotely touching that territory is Cassie, who is a bit of an oddball in a charming way.

She is an original-seeming character and I would be open to reading a book with her as the MC. There's a guy named Erik who seems important, but I can't think of many noteworthy things to say about him.

In closing, I liked this book, it was fun as an escapist, relaxing romance with a paranormal twist. But I think it would benefit from a few more compellingly unique and distinctive features. The characters only very rarely surprised me with how they were thinking or acting.

The dialogue and the flow of their relationship just felt very expected (barring some more interesting, very late developments toward the climax.) The approach to vampires, witches, and lycans was very familiar and doesn't bring anything very new to the table. I hope that future entries in this series try to take a few more risks at telling a story that stands out within the crowded paranormal romance genre.

DNF @ 27%. I'm definitely in the minority, but Queen of Vampire Hearts just didn't do it for me. And it is probably me more than the book. This felt like old school PNR, which I used to devour, but not so much anymore. I didn't like the opening chapter. It felt like it was for show, trying to be salacious, without any real feeling. I hated the second chapter, a retelling from her view. The "stop no sex" was silly, I found her rules and constant referral to them, annoying. I Gina there may be a good story buried in there, but unfortunately I wasn't drawn in enough to find out.

Jeanette Rose just gained a new fan!

I absolutely loved this book. It has been some time since I got a enjoy such a great paranormal romance. Readers of Immortals After Dark and Night Huntress will love the subject, style and execution of this novel.

Let's begin with Phoebe, the main character. I loved her spunk and her actions and development through the story made me proud of her. Is that am odd reaction? Im not sure but I felt like a doting friend at the end.

From the very first page at the immortal orgy, I was enthralled. What a opener! I couldnt put the book down since that! Very cleverly written, I was laughing and crying and wholehearted betting on their love.

I enjoyed how Lucien had to chase her, I enjoyed that both partners gave as good as they got.

Thank you for writing this wonderful tale, I can't wait to read more of your work!

What Did I Like About This Book?
As a début author, I was very impressed with Ms Rose’s writing style; it felt articulate, rich but was very easy to read. I thought that the story itself was intelligent and felt well planned out. I enjoyed her prose; the way she weaved realistic human behaviours into her new paranormal fantasy world making it feel believable.

Ms Rose allows both her main characters - Phoebe and Lucien - to lead the reader with their own chapters/sections, giving us a chance to read their inner dialogue; I really like this because it helped me to gain a further depth of understanding, empathy and connection to both of them.

If you’ve read my reviews before, you’ll know that I enjoy a story more when the lead female character is intelligent, resilient, self-reliant and has a good sense of humour. Phoebe Atreus turned out to be everything that I look for in a lead female character; tough, witty, able to hold her own but with a good moral compass and a kind and loyal heart. I enjoyed watching her grow and develop through this book and look forward to seeing her evolve in subsequent books.

In fact, I loved the fact that all of the characters in this book have been written with multifaceted personalities, having their own set of foibles and emotional baggage, there are no stereotypical good or evil characters here which makes them all feel real and I look forward to becoming better acquainted with the rest of the supporting cast in the subsequent books.

Queen of Vampire Hearts sits perfectly within the Paranormal Romance genre because it’s the romance between Lucien and Phoebe that takes centre stage throughout the plot. However, there other aspects to the plot; prophecies, betrayals, mystery and adventure and I enjoyed every one of the twists and turns that Ms Rose took us on.

I loved the fact that I experienced a myriad of emotions while reading Queen of Vampire Hearts; the banter and humour made me chuckle, I shed a tear or two during the more emotional revelations, the fighting and action scenes fed my adrenalin fix, the tension and horror had me on the edge of my seat, the romance warmed my heart and the passion titillated my tummy and put fire in my blood. In other words, I was gripped and couldn’t stop reading.

Is There Anything That I Didn't Like?
I really loved this book, as you can tell by my rating.

As the first book in a new series, there was the obligatory world building and character introductions, however, I never felt that this slowed down the pace of the story. Rest assured, dear readers, there are no information dumps and no perilous life-or-death cliffhanger ending in this book. Having said that, there are plot threads that are left to be explored and concluded in subsequent books as expected from a first in series book.

So Basically, What I'm Saying Is...
I really enjoyed this novel; it was a tale that kept me reading from start to finish – I was hooked! Queen of Vampire Hearts has everything that I look for in a good story; adventure, mystery, action, great characters, some humour, romance and oodles of passion.

Due to some of the more adult themes and explicit sex and violent scenes contained in this book, I would only recommend it to adults who are not offended by this sort of content. If you enjoy paranormal romance tales with a multi-layered back-story that keeps you turning the pages from start to finish with alpha heroes and heroines with plenty of gumption, romance, oh and enough titillation to make you blush on the bus, then this novel is definitely one for you.

The blurb really caught my attention. I'm a big fan of PNR romance, especially when vampires are involved. Throw in that the vampire is super old, and jaded. I'm all in. This book grabbed my attention from the very start. It was fast paced, fun, and had enough drama to keep you on the edge of your seat.

Phoebe took a little time to grow on me. Her indecisive nature grew a little tedious for me. I understand why she was that way, the reasons she didn't trust easily, but I grew tired of her constant back and forth. However the further into the book we got the more I began to like her. She showed her fierce nature. She was loyal, could take car of herself (with or without her magic), and she can bring a big bad vampire baddie to his knees.

I'm a sucker for reformed bad boys. I always have been, and Lucien is exactly that. Super old, use to getting his own way, feared by most, and kind of bored with life makes Lucian oh so fun. I love how the mating call made him re-access how he's living his life and make him think of someone else's needs above his own.

This book has mystery, intrigue, and a really great romance. By the end I was completely hooked, and can't wait for the next book to release.

This was a great story- not only was it romantic and hot, it was sarcastic and witty, which added to the flavor altogether. A different vampire and fantastical creature tale, there was depth as well as plot twists, in all just a lot of fun. There will hopefully be a sequel, as some supporting characters got themselves in a mess towards the end, and the main characters still have some hurdles and truths to sort out. I’ll be looking forward to reading that as well!
