A totally cute Christmas story! You don't need to have read all the other books in the series to understand it. But if you've seen the movie, you might have a little more context! One line really stuck out to me, "What the Grinch can steal, isn't Christmas." It wasn't my favorite writing, and Becky can be a little annoying, but if you're looking for a Christmas book, this is a perfect option!
This is a cute addition to the Shopaholic series. The characters and hijinks are as familiar as always.
This book could absolutely be read as a standalone if you enjoy holiday-themed chick-lit. Becky die-hards will appreciate it as the latest installment.
Thanks Netgalley!
A new Becky Bloomwood novel is always cause for celebration for me, set it during the holidays and I’m even more excited and this one did not disappoint! I love that it’s easy to jump in and out of this series if you want, or if you’re like me you follow each book, but even if it’s been years since you’ve read a Becky book it’s like checking in with an old friend you haven’t seen for awhile but you pick up exactly where you left off, the ultimate in a comfort read for me.
It’s not a BB book if there isn’t chaos and mayhem and seeing as this is set amid the holiday rush you can imagine the mishaps that are possible. Becky never fails to make me laugh out loud and this was no exception, she’s so over the top and silly that you can’t stop yourself from liking her, or at the very least laughing at her. These books don’t take themselves seriously at all, they’re pure fun and entertainment and I always finish with a smile on my face. Recommended when you want something light, silly and hilarious.
Happy #pubday to the newest Shopaholics book (thank you to Netgalley and Random House for my copy)! Y’all. I hate to admit this, but I’m a *little* bit like Becky Brandon née Bloomwood. Especially around the holidays. From mastering that perfect tablescape, to preparing a menu that fits everyone’s dietary needs and preferences, to selecting the perfect I-know-you-and-I value-our-relationship gift, I’m stressing hard from November 1 - December 26th. The newest book in the #shopaholics series had me both laughing out loud and getting anxious for my own holiday woes. I read it in one day (one day!) and absolutely loved it. This series is relatively new to me, having been introduced to it by a dear friend not too long ago. These books are such a great escape: cute and hilarious and a little ridiculous (but in the best way possible), Becky is a friend that you never want to say goodbye to (and thanks to Sophie Kinsella we haven’t had to!) I can’t describe this book any better than to just say it’s fun. I had a smile on my face from the very first page to the very last, even reading particularly #relatable holiday struggles to my husband out loud. If you’re looking for a delightful and easy series to start, this is a great one that spans nearly two decades. But even if you haven’t read the rest of this series, I still think you could read this and enjoy it as a fast-paced, light-hearted, festive read!⠀
I remember when I first read Confessions of a Shopaholic and I fell in love with Becky Bloomwood, now Becky Brandon. I just love this character so much and I'm so glad I got an opportunity to revisit this series with this latest installment, just in time for some holiday cheer. In this new book, Becky is taking over the Christmas dinner for her entire family since her parents have temporarily relocated and can't host the dinner. So now Becky has to have the dinner all cooked, the shopping all done and her house looking festive for the holidays.
If you've read any of the books in the Shopaholic series, you can probably imagine the trouble on the horizon as Becky goes into overdrive planning for the holiday! If you haven't read the series, never fear! You can leap right into this one without any problem at all. This book is warm, charming and funny and it's perfect to lift your spirits. I definitely want to go back and read some of the books I've missed in this wonderfully fun series! I loved it!
Christmas Shopaholic by Sophie Kinsella is the ninth book in the Shopaholic series which follows Rebecca (Becky) Bloomwood through her (mis)adventures in life, always including some shopping drama.
In this book Becky is married, has a daughter, and finds herself thrust into the role of Christmas host for the first time. Not only will she be hosting her parents, her friend’s family, but also her sister Jess and her husband are coming back from South America, and expect Christmas to be a vegan, low-waste affair.
This book is laugh-out-loud funny as well-meaning Becky gets distracted, puts her foot in it, and makes all manner of bad decisions which result in chaos all-round.
It’s the perfect book to help you escape your own holiday drama. Just click the button below to grab your own copy, then find a quiet reading chair out of the chaos, sit back and enjoy!
I loved this book so much. I was just saying the other day that I was looking for a funny Christmas read and this was the perfect book. I haven’t read a book from the Shopaholic series since the first one but now I was to start at the beginning and read them all! Christmas Shopaholic is a funny, classic and hectic Christmas book about Becky Brandon who is chosen to host Christmas for the family. The situations that happen throughout the book are funny and lovely. Becky is a go big or go home kind of woman and I love it! If your looking for an upbeat, light hearted Christmas read this is your holiday book! I can’t wait to go back and read the whole series!
Thank you to NetGalley and Random House for an ARC of this book!
I received an ARC of this book to read in exchange for a fair review. Christmas Shopaholic by Sophie Kinsella is the 9th book in her entertaining Shopaholic series. It can be read as a stand-alone but I think you will enjoy it more if you have read the rest of the series. Becky Brandon nee Bloomwood is back and once again shopping up a storm. In this story her parents move to a trendy flat in Shoreditch and its up to Becky to host the family Christmas for the first time. For Becky planning the perfect family Christmas and finding just the right presents for everyone as well as dealing with an ex-boyfriend who’s now a rockstar guarantees that both chaos and hilarity will ensue, her attempts at a vegan turkey will have you in stitches. Delightfully charming and full of the joys of the season I enjoyed revisiting Becky and family once more and recommend the story highly. Christmas Shopaholic is the ninth book in the Shopaholic series by Sophie Kinsella. Christmas is a wonderful time of the year and full of tradition. Mum and Dad host the holiday, neighbors visit in their matching jumpers, carols playing and online shopping. But there is a slight change in plans this holiday. Becky's parents are moving to a trendy neighborhood and ask Becky to host Christmas this year. No worries, right?
If that quote didn't make you *teehee* then I don't know what will. And that means this funny chick lit series is not for you! In true style, Sophie Kinsella brings back our beloved hilarious fictional character, Becky Brandon née Bloomwood. This new novel has so many LOL moments that I had to stifle my chuckles while in public. My goodness, I'd forgotten how ridiculously funny this series continues to be. And although it is only October, this book put me in the holiday spirit. If you are in the mood for a festive light read, Christmas Shopaholic is the right pick.

This was so delightful - I like that the more recent ones have less crazed shopping and more of Becky's antics.
From my blog: Always With a Book:
There are some series that no matter how long it is between books, you can pick up and feel as if it's been no time at all since you last read the previous book and that is exactly how it is with the Shopaholic books. Becky Brandon nee Bloomwood is that type of friend that you can go weeks or years without talking to and than suddenly you meet up and it feels as if no time has gone by. Oh how I've missed her - it has been four years since her last book, but as soon as I started reading this book, I felt like it was just yesterday!
These books are pure enjoyment and exactly the type of light-hearted reading I love to lose myself in after some of the heavier thrillers and historical fiction that I have been reading lately and this latest Shopaholic installment was no exception! I so enjoyed catching up with Becky who is back in the UK after her jaunt in the states. As is usual, there were equal parts laugh-out-loud moments and touching heartwarming moments. Yes, Becky is still the flawed character we have all come to love and yes, she still makes outrageous decisions at times, but she has a good heart and shows that when it really matters.
I loved the holiday theme in this book. It really makes you wonder just how out of control we can get with our planning and buying, but in a light-hearted, funny way. It's not preachy or anything, it just brings to light the fact that perhaps we put the emphasis on stuff rather than on people. Just a little food for thought and I liked the message. I also liked that we see Becky have a few breakdowns as the stress gets to her, but at the same time, she also is able to be there for others when it really matters. She may get sidetracked by a really good sale, but when a friend is in need, she is there.
I am so glad to have been reunited with Becky and I really do hope we haven't seen the last of her.
Becky Brandon née Bloomwood is back and taking on shopping for Christmas like no one else would. When Becky's parents decided to move, they ask if she can take over hosting Christmas. Now hosting Christmas can be stressful for anyone, but Becky knows how to make is extra stressful with her shopping addiction. Intent on making it a Christmas to remember, Becky tries to organize herself and rein in her spending, but with parents, sibling and friend's Christmas requests, the idea of finding Luke the perfect gift, an ex-boyfriend reappearing, and trying to manage any other trouble she finds herself in, Becky is put to the ultimate test. Can Becky pull off a successful Christmas without breaking the budget or is she doomed before she even begins?
It has been a couple years since Sophie Kinsella has released a Shopaholic book, but this one does not disappoint. Becky is back to her usual frivolous spending ways, but this time the focus is on Christmas. This books will provide lots of laughs, some shaking of the head (really shouldn't Becky know better by now), but most of all, it is an entertaining read that should not be missed.
More fun with Becky Brandon, nee Bloomwood, the Shopaholic! And bless her heart, she just can't help herself - shopping is what she's good at. So when she gets named as hostess for the family gathering at Christmas, the fun begins as she tries to find the perfect gifts and get all the special food and treats to make everyone happy. Her adventures are riotous. I especially enjoyed the hunt for her husband's special gift and the extreme way she tries to obtain it.
A good, lighthearted romp. Thanks to Sophie Kinsella and Random House Publishing Group - Random House through Netgalley for an advance copy in exchange for an honest review.
Becky (Bloomwood) Brandon is back! Now she lives in Letherby and is working in her BFF Suze's gift shop.
So far, so good. But, we know Becky can attract chaos without even trying. What could go wrong??
Well, her parents have moved and asked if she will host their annual holiday bash. Sounds good.
So many demands to please everyone, even an ex-boyfriend turned Rock Star, and his significate other shows up. Yikes!
Slowly, everything developes into a slow-train-wreck, or can Becky save the holiday??
I enjoyed this holiday laugh out loud treat so much, I am ordering some copies for family and my Secret Santa gift!
Get your's ordered too and join in the fun!
A MUST READ!!

Kinsella’s “Shopaholic” books have been among my favorite reads for years, never failing to provide lighthearted humor and a good chuckle. The latest book is no exception. Sure, there’s not a large amount of depth to the book, but the break from the seriousness in day-to-day life is always welcomed.
Becky Brandon née Bloomwood reminds me of the literary version of Lucy Ricardo (from I Love Lucy), as Becky always finds herself in a bit of a pickle, no matter what she tries to do … and I love that! I enjoy Christmas books, so it was nice to share a bit of the holiday season with Becky as she is tasked with hosting the Christmas celebration (on her own) for the first time. The stress of the season is something most readers will be able to relate to in one way or another, and the hilarity along with the way will leave them chuckling and shaking their head at Becky in this quick, enjoyable read.
I have such wonderful reading memories of the Sophie Kinsella Shopaholic books and it was one of the first series that I really got into as an adult reader in the early 2000s. It was so fun to reconnect with Becky and see what she is up to now all these years later. Becky Bloomwood (now Becky Brandon) has matured and grown in many ways and is now juggling life as both a wife and mother.
While Becky has changed in many ways, her shopping habits and overthinking just about everything has not... which always was part of the charming appeal of these lighthearted booked. Christmas Shopaholic was a wonderful addition to this collection and it was the perfect weekend read to curl up with on the couch. We get to see Becky take on hosting Christmas for the very first time and there was plenty of laugh out loud moments.
Becky is flawed but completely lovable and you can't help but root along for her while also being highly entertained. While this is part of a series, Kinsella created a book that can also be read as a stand-alone book, although it might intrigue you to read the rest of them after.
Thank you to NetGalley, Random House, and The Dial Press for an advanced copy.
I'm a fan of Sophie Kinsella's writing and Christmas Shopaholic was as enjoyable as I hoped. With the season of holiday romance approaching, I reccomend you add this one to you TBR.
Becky Brandon nee Bloowood is one of those unique characters you'll love. She's genuine, quirky, and unintentionally hilarious and I love her a bit more with each book. Does she struggle with a shopping addiction? Definitely! Is she trying to be more frugal? Yes! Do I live vicariously through all her fancy purchases? You bet I do! 😂 While I could never purchase all the stuff she does, I love all the descriptions of her items. I really loved how she goes the extra mile for those she truly cares about and how this book focuses on how people are the ones that really matter. Even though there are a few serious topics. I still found myself laughing loudly enough to wake up my sleeping toddler. I highly recommend you pick this one up and enjoy an afternoon of laughter.
Shopaholic meets Hallmark Christmas movie! Christmas Shopaholic features Becky at her absolute finest- frantically trying to appease everyone's wishes for the first Christmas she's hosting (without thinking of the ramifications of trying to help everyone else first instead of herself), frantically online shopping (and Googling- the pages that listed her recent search history were hilarious). Not everyone of the Shopaholic books has been wonderful, but this is really the series at its best.
I tried to go slow and take my time with this book, but it is hard not to jump back into the fabulous world of Becky as fast and as hard as I could.
I mean our favorite shopper around Christmas time...oh the shenanigans! You can’t just take your time when it is full of so many moments that had me laughing out loud. The sweet little things that reminded me of how good hearted Becky is and how she makes life for all of those around her just a little more interesting.
Well done on another fabulous book in the shopaholic world!
I was laughing out loud while reading Sophie Kinsella's latest book. Kinsella is one of my go-to authors and I can always count on her to cheer me up after a long day at work, and this story was no exception. I look forward to the holidays every year, and sometimes struggle with my expectations being too high for everything to go right. This book was a great reminder in enjoying the little things, and spending time with your loved ones. Becky's charm and carefree attitude coupled with the festive setting made for a lovely pre-holiday read.
