Loved it! Perfect for the holiday season or fans of the Shopaholic Series. It's pretty much like every previous Becky Brandon née Bloomwood (for some reason it irritates me that Becky constantly does the née Bloowood in every correspondence she has or when she meets people) book. Becky messes something up or overspends, everyone forgives her because that's Becky and the end everything works out. I have a love hate relationship with this series. I love reading the books and finding out what Becky and her friends and family are up to. On the other hand I find Becky extremely irritating. She has no concept of the value of money. She has never stopped overspending and justifies every purchase. I don't know what she would do if Luke ever lost all his money and they were completely broke. She's also easily influenced. The way she acted around her ex-boyfriend was nauseating, she was acting way too hard to impress him. Jess is my least favorite character, she doesn't really add anything to the series. I hate hearing about her complain about EVERYTHING and expecting everyone to live their lives according to her standards. She's not friendly and I'm not sure she even likes Becky or anyone else in the book. Even when someone gives Jess a present she can't say thank you and appreciate the thoughtfulness, she needs to find something wrong with it. Words as presents!!!!!!! That's a new one. Everyone had so many unreasonable demands for Christmas, but no one offers to bring anything to help Becky. It was all so crazy. The ending was sweet and I knew that was going to happen.
Even though I complain about Becky, I do love reading about her. I always know something crazy will happen when she's involved. She genuinely loves Luke, Minnie and her friends and family. She tries her hardest even if she has to buy everything at a store.
Definitely recommend the book, especially if you already read the previous books in the series. It's a cute story and definitely what you would expect from Becky. Hopefully there's another book in the series because even though she is annoying I still love reading about Becky.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from Random House Publishing Group - Random House through NetGalley. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
Thank you Netgalley for sending me this arc. I will be reviewing this book in the near future with an honest rating and review.
Hilarious, laugh out loud funny. We all need a good laugh at Christmas 🎄. This is so wonderfully fun. I love this author but no bias here. It’s truly a great read.
Becky is back and oh how I’ve missed her! In this fun and lighthearted Christmas tale you watch Becky as she tries to host the perfect Christmas. Kinsella’s character always has me laughing out loud and cringing at the same time with the situations she gets herself in. Overall very enjoyable with a character you can’t help but love. Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for sending me a copy. All opinions expressed are my own.
I was so excited to receive my advanced copy of the latest Shopaholic book!
Becky Brandon (née Bloomwood) is back and as entertaining as ever. Devouring the latest Shopaholic book was like reuniting with a long lost friend.
Faced with the task of hosting Christmas, overachiever and optimistic Becky is determined to host the best Christmas ever. A series of speed bumps pave the way, but as usual, Becky perseveres.
The book was worth the wait. I missed Becky so much, and Kinsella brought her back to life in the best of ways. Bonus that it’s also a CHRISTMAS book. Fingers crossed for another Shopaholic book sooner than later.
And, my word for this book: quintessential.

Such a cute holiday story! Who can’t relate to over indulging and online shopping is addictive. Great December book club read with a cast of characters everyone can identify with. I loved the parents.
Becky Brandon nee Bloomwood is back, baby!! I am in awe of Sophie Kinsella’s ability to pick up this beloved character after so many years of her being “retired”. Becky’s voice hasn’t changed a bit! I loved this book and even found myself in tears at the end. The family was SO annoying at times, but would it be Christmas without annoying family members?
I received an advance copy. All thoughts are my own.
I am a big fan of this series from the first book. Her antics always are over the top which makes them that much more fun. In real life I don't think I could stand her, but she is super lovable in these stories.
Another great book from a great author! Although I cringed the whole way through the book with what Becky gets herself into, I was simultaneously laughing at her antics!
It was so good to hear from my favorite characters again! This book was light and corny as usual, but I just can’t put these shopaholic books down! Rebecca is as ditzy as ever and digs herself into a million holes, but her big heart and good intentions always make up for her bad choices. Can’t wait for the next one!
I have always been a huge fan of the Shopaholic series. They make me laugh in ways that other books can’t compare. I was very excited to see that Sophie Kinsella was releasing a new title in the series. However, it didn’t take long to realize that this is not the same Shopaholic that I remember. It’s been a while since the last book was released, so I don’t know if the authors writing style has changed some since writing the others, but I didn’t enjoy this story or the writing as much. I never laughed and found some sections to be so bad I was skimming through them. The book does end in a cliff hanger moment, and I am hoping that there’s another book to come. I’d like to give it another shot and hope the next book will be much better!
I have never read a Shopaholic book before so I wasn't sure what to expect. This was a delightful story. Becky was a wonderful character who had me laughing out loud at some of her situations.
Becky just wants to have a nice Christmas, and then she finds out her parents are moving to a new hipster neighborhood. A small flat. They will not be able to host Christmas this year. It will be up to Becky to host Christmas. Becky has never hosted Christmas before, and there is so much to do. Buy the food and a new refrigerator for the massive amount of food she ordered. Make a vegan turkey, since they are sold out. Decorate three Christmas trees. Join a men's only billiard club in order to enter a raffle just to win her for her husband's Christmas present. One crazy antic leads to another.
I thought Becky was a wonderful character. This story was told through Becky's point of view so I really understood her. This is a fun Christmas story.
I became so excited when I saw that Becky Brandon, nee Bloomwood was back! The Shopaholic series has been a favorite of mine for several years because of how funny and light-hearted they are (and you can’t help falling in love with several of the characters). This time around, she is hosting Christmas for her family and friends, and throws herself into it. Everything you've come to love about Becky is present in this book, but most of all - I loved how much she's grown up. By the end of the book, Sophie Kinsella definitely makes you feel like Becky has matured throughout the series (though she does still get herself into some hilarious situations because of her shopping). All in all, I LOVED this book. It's great for a laugh and a jolt into the holiday spirit. Dare I say, it could be great stress relief if you too are hosting Christmas?!! It comes out on October 15th. Thank you so much to The Dial Press and Netgalley for this ARC!
Synopsis: “’Tis the season for change and Becky Brandon (née Bloomwood) is embracing it, returning from the States to live in the charming village of Letherby and working with her best friend, Suze, in the gift shop of Suze’s stately home. Life is good, especially now that Becky takes time every day for mindfulness . . . which actually means listening to a meditation tape while hunting down online bargains.
But Becky still adores the traditions of Christmas: Her parents host, carols play on repeat, her mother pretends she made the Christmas pudding, and the neighbors come ’round for sherry in their terrible holiday sweaters. Things are looking cheerier than ever, until Becky’s parents announce they’re moving to ultra-trendy Shoreditch—unable to resist the draw of craft beer and smashed avocados—and ask Becky if she’ll host this year. What could possibly go wrong?"
Sophia Kinsella is my favorite author. She didn’t dissappoint with this story. I love her writing skills and that she’s continuing the shopaholic storyline.
In true Sophie Kinsella form, this book gives us another peek into Becky's life which hasn't slowed down any. After agreeing to host the family's Christmas celebration (with a number of friends in tow as well), Becky strives to make this the perfect holiday. As you might guess, things don't go as planned. This is a fun read, perfect for the holiday season, guaranteed to delight fans of the Shopaholic series.
Without spoiling anything, I absolutely loved the added twist at the end of the story and hope to read more about that!
Becky’s back! This time, as Becky’s parents move to a more hipster town, Becky is voluntold into hosting Christmas and immediately begins receiving requests (must-haves) for the festive day. Her world is in chaos (at least in her head) when Luke also begins to grow a mustache for Movember (she’s not a fan), her half-sister Jess is acting quite distant; giving Becky the impression that her husband has left her and her mom and her mom’s best friend Janice have a falling out. On top of it all, her rock star ex-boyfriend and his pushy girlfriend has moved into town, rousing up weird feelings for Becky who’s not sure what they want from her.
Of course, Becky is not Becky without splurging on an Alexander McQueen dress that is about two sizes too small, 30 pounds of salmon (unintentionally ordered) and many other unnecessary (but necessary) purchases. Nonetheless when she is on the hunt for the perfect present for Luke and pulls all stops to get it!
This funny, wonderful novel stirs up the Christmas spirit with Becky’s antics all for attempt at making Christmas one that her family and friends will remember. As a long-time fan of the Shopaholic series, Sophie Kinsella did not disappoint with this one! A sure story you’ll love and actually laugh-out-loud to when you read this.
This review will also be posted on my Goodreads page, Amazon.ca and Kobo's website once the the book is released on October 15th. Initial Instagram (https://www.instagram.com/Tamsterdam_reads) post & story will happen on September 29th about this book and on October 15 for the publication date.
I was so excited to see that Becky Brandon nee Bloomwood is back! This story takes us through a typical Becky fashion. This time she is hosting Christmas for the first time with her sister Jess coming home for it. She reminds Becky she is vegan (gasp the horror for Becky, I mean who doesn't love a Christmas turkey) and would like to exchange presents that will be worthwhile and become a waste for the environment. I love this light-hearted, and funny Shopoholic novel.
I was so excited to see there was going to be another Shopaholic book. I absolutely love this series. This story lived up to my expectations. It was hysterical! Becky is hosting Christmas for the first time ever, and Becky being Becky, things don't go smoothly. This book could be read as a standalone, but I think you would understand Becky much better if you've already read the series. I have missed Becky and the gang so much so this story was a real gift. If you are feeling frazzled during the holidays, read this book and relax! Thank you to Netgalley and Random House Publishing for the ARC. All opinions expressed are my own.
Hilarious, delightful, & heartwarming!
I couldn’t be more excited that Becky Brandon née Bloomwood is back in this latest installment to the Shopaholic Series. This is one series that I eagerly and patiently wait for the next installment. Thank you so much, SOPHIE KINSELLA for writing such a fabulous and entertaining character. I absolutely adore Becky and you! CHRISTMAS SHOPAHOLIC did not disappoint me at all in fact it exceeded all my expectations!
CHRISTMAS SHOPAHOLIC (Shopaholic #9) by SOPHIE KINSELLA is a lighthearted, entertaining, and fun festive read that had me laughing-out-loud hysterically right from the very start. You can’t help but fall in love with Becky and be amused by all of her farcical antics. She is definitely a one of a kind character that is so darn entertaining and lovely.
SOPHIE KINSELLA delivers a fast-paced, amusing, fun, and well-written read here that has us following along with Becky as she has been tasked to host Christmas for the very first time. This book was extremely fun and I was definitely entertained by Becky and all of her holiday season mishaps.

It has been awhile since I read a Sophie Kinsella book, and this book did not disappoint. This was a fun holiday read. Becky is pushed into hosting her first Christmas; therefore the story follows how she prepares for the holidays in true Becky fashion. Navigating online shopping, Christmas festivals, grocery shopping and the extreme lengths she takes to make sure her family and friends have the best holiday.
If you love the shopaholic series, definitely read!
