This is a totally delightful rom-com that comments intelligently on the genre. Fun, vivid voice, characters you'll fall in love with, and some hysterical scenes!

I did not finish this book. I got through the second chapter and nothing just grabbed me. I will probably pick this back up at some point and finish it because I hate to not finish books. What I did read was easy reading. I just felt lost.

I absolutely love rom coms- they are my favorite type of movie. I also love to read books that take the spirit of the rom com and bring it to life in a new, fresh way. Would Like to Meet is definitely one of those books. Evie is an agent's assistant, who at one point dreamed of being a screenwriter. Instead, she is trying desperately to get her agency's biggest client (who she refers to as NOB throughout the story) to write his next big film, which just happens to be a romantic comedy. In a last ditch ploy she decides to act out every meet cute she knows of in order to spur on his writing. This story is full of references to all of the great movies I've loved over the years, but it is a laugh out loud journey for Evie as she really becomes her own person. I'm not lying when I say I stayed up all night reading it- I just had to find out how it all wrapped up. This one definitely did not disappoint. Can't wait to see what Rachel Winters writes in the future!

Like any good rom-com, this book is sometimes sweet and often hilarious, if a bit predictable. That’s not a dig; you know how a rom-com is going end. The fun comes in how it gets there, and I had a lot of fun with this one.

Evie has toiled for years as an assistant to an agent for screenwriters, and she’s desperate to finally become an agent herself. Instead, it’s looking like her job might be in jeopardy when a client of their agency fails to produce the romantic comedy he’s contracted to write. His excuse? He doesn’t believe they are realistic. So, Evie strikes a deal with him: in exchange for his support with her boss, she’ll prove that rom-coms can reflect real life by reenacting meet-cutes from her favorite movies to find a man she could fall for. Needless to say, it doesn’t go well. With the support of her best friends and the help of a cute little girl and her widower father Evie meets at her favorite coffeeshop, however, Evie keeps trying to find her own personal happily ever after.

Did I mention that this book is funny? Evie tries a lot of meet-cutes with predictably comical results. It’s very British humor in that the laughs frequently revolve around Evie’s embarrassment and ineptitude. The banter between Evie and the other characters is also very funny.

I did cringe a little bit at how often Evie sells herself short and lets other people, particularly her boss, take advantage of her. That’s a major point of the story, though; Evie has to learn to her own worth. When she finally does, she not only gets the man but also the career of her dreams.

This book is a celebration of rom-coms and meet-cutes, and I’d recommend it to anyone who loves them.

This novel was absolutely adorable and had me laughing out loud during all the crazy meet-cutes. Although it was a little silly at times, this novel had me truly entertained. I would totally recommend this one if you are looking for a romance that is light in the steam department and will leave you with a ton of laughs. One of my new favorite books of all time. I loved this book so hard. I can’t remember the last time a book made me crack up out loud so much. This book read like a movie and I could easily picture it being a hit on the big screen. This story is full of endearing moments, cringe-worthy moments, and downright hilarious moments. It has so much depth and feeling and it just made me feel good. This will definitely be a story I go back to time and time again.

Evie has a lot of “meet-cutes” but she realizes he has been there the whole time!

Evie Summers is tired of being an assistant to an agent and would like to be promoted but when Ezra Chester is having writer’s block, her life is turned upside down trying to get him back on track. Ezra needs to write a romantic comedy when he doesn’t even like those types of movies so Evie goes out of her way to set up “meet cute” type of stories and sending the stories. Evie meets a widowed photographer raising his daughter on his own that always seems to be in the little coffee shop that she stops at and she becomes friends with his daughter.

Evie upset about having to help Ezra quietly because her boss told her the agency would close if he didn’t turn in his script but Ezra was all about himself but Ben was a surprising character because he originally was just her friend but when he wanted Evie to see that Ezra was using her which took some time.

Would Like to Meet makes you think that Ezra might change but Ben is the person that supports Evie when things go sideways.

Cute romantic comedy that was fun but not outstanding. There really wasn't anything that I didn't like about it, just that it didn't stand out from the books I've read recently. I had a book hangover from another book that blew my mind -- could be the reason why I didn't connect with this one. I would suggest giving this one a try even though it wasn't a 5-star read for me. I voluntarily read and reviewed an ARC for NetGalley.

Super cute and heartwarming story. In order to get a stubborn screenwriter to write a rom-com, Evie agrees to test every meet-cute from classic rom-coms. It's really funny to watch all these classic scenarios happen as they actually would in real life. I love all the characters in the book and was really entertained by the plot, and I hope to read more from Winters.

Gumption.

When all the meet-cutes in the book happen, all I can think about is the movie The Holiday and when the screenwriter that met Kate Winslet's character recommended movies to her about leading ladies with gumption, and how Evie in this book embodies this to a T. She takes on the ultimate challenge and ends up with the top prize.

If you are someone who loves the idea of rom-coms but laughs about the common tropes used in them for meet-cutes, this book is definitely one that needs to be on your reading list. I LOVED it from beginning to end, even when the ending was partially predictable. I actually teared up at how romantic the end was, the true sign of a successful romantic comedy.

If you are looking for a clean, funny, heart-warming comedy, don't hesitate to pick up Would Like to Meet.

I did not end up finishing this book. I read it up to 14%, but sadly did not finish the rest of the book. I really liked Evie's enthusiasm and her willingness to to do anything for her job as an assistant to an agent for screenwriters, but the story fell flat for me. I didn't care for NOB and wasn't quite sure what direction the book was heading. I really wanted to love Evie and whoever she would would end up falling in love with, but I just could not connect with the characters.

Would Like to Meet has everything I love to see in my women’s fiction, or “chick-lit” if your feeling obnoxious. Strong, fallible female lead, sweet romance, supportive friends, laugh-out-loud moments, and just enough tension to keep turning pages at a feverish pace. The story moves along at a quick pace without leaving details to the wayside.

Evie was incredibly loveable that I really enjoyed rooting for! Her slips in professionalism never failed to make me laugh-out-loud as she attempted to wrestle/blackmail pages out of Ezra. Ben and Anette were adorable and always brought an extra level of charm to their scenes.

Admittedly, Evie’s past relationship drama impacting her perspective on future love interests was a bit shakey. The story was a bit predictable, but I don’t feel like it impacted my enjoyment in the least. There was plenty happening around the main storyline to keep me invested in the characters.

I never would have guessed this was a debut novel and I am excited to see what Rachel Winters comes up with next! If you love Sophie Ranald, Camille Pagan, and even Katherine Center then take a look at this sweet romance and tale of empowerment.

If you’ve ever binge-watched romantic comedies or geeked out over any rom com ever (whether you’re a fan of Love Actually or How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days), Would Like to Meet is probably right up your alley. It takes all of the quintessential meet cutes (which we learned about in The Holiday) and makes them feel like exactly what would happen if you attempted them in real life (which we all know, is not a movie). Never fell in love with a guy who after accidentally spilling your coffee on him? Neither has Evie Summers. One of the notes I took while reading (because I decided to do that for once): “romance with a healthy helping of second hand embarrassment”. Which perfectly describes this book.

And lest you think Would Like to Meet is a rom com parody, it’s more like a love letter the genre. There are references to every single romantic comedy you could think of (and also The Fault in Our Stars and The Great British Bakeoff, because why not?). For me, this was an opportunity to nerd out over something that brings me so much joy. And it was kind of amazing. It somehow made the expected tropes feel original (like a love triangle you don’t hate with a satisfying ending). They were cheesy, but in a good way. I loved it.

I can’t talk about this book without mentioning my favorite character: Annette. She’s a young deaf girl who meets Evie in a café (after watching her spill her coffee on two different men, with unsuccessful outcomes each time). She made this book for me. I honestly love her so much, and thinking about this book still gives me warm fuzzies because of Annette. I honestly wouldn’t be mad if she got her own book. Or series. More Annette please! I think children in romance novels can be kind of hit or miss, but Annette was such a source of joy and humor (and snark). I don’t think this book would have been the same without her, and I honestly want to read this book again already, just to get more.

I’ve been reading so much romance lately, something about this time of year makes me want to read nothing but cozy little stories and I’ve really been looking forward to getting started on this one. While it was cute and pretty fun, it also took me quite awhile to warm up to it and I kind of wish it was 100 pages shorter.

Let’s start with what I liked, because there was plenty. I loved the premise, I die for a meet cute and this had a bunch, albeit most were huge fails but that’s what made this book unique. Each chapter opened like a movie or a play setting the scene and I though that was a nice touch. There were two options for a love interest for Evie and it’s always cool to be kept on my toes in a romance, I like that whole who will she end up with thing. One of the options, Ben had a quirky and adorable daughter, Anette and she added something light and fun to an already light and fun read. I can’t resist a cute kid in a book or real life. So really, lots to like here but some stuff that made me not love it like I wanted to as well.

My complaints are kinda nit picky, but I found the beginning to be drawn out and boring. After I hit the halfway point I was finally invested but I just feel like that’s a long time to start to care about what’s gonna happen to the characters. I mentioned before that I felt like it could’ve been shorter and I really think that maybe would’ve helped my boredom in the beginning. Minor stuff, but it bugged me enough to share it so 🤷‍♀️ Also this has zero steam, if you’re looking for something spicy this isn’t it. It’s more cutesy and sweet and often a little over the top and ridiculous, but definitely fun AND funny.

Y’all, this book blew me away!! I’ve had a pretty busy schedule lately, and I still managed to read this book in two days because I genuinely did not want to put it down. If you’re a big fan of rom coms -I’m talking die-hard obsessed with them- then you will love this book! It was highly entertaining getting to read Evie make a complete fool of herself as she tried to recreate the most famous meet-cutes from the best rom-com movies. Not only did I love Evie, but I loved her small group of best friends. I was also completely head over heels over our romantic interest, who was just the right amount of grouchy for my taste. This was just the perfect read for this time of year; I’m so glad I read it! My only critique is that Evie was a really selfish friend, and anytime there was a scene in which she wasn’t being a particularly good friend it would make me like her a little less in those particular scenes. The issue was obviously discussed, and you could even understand she was acting the way she was. However, she was still a pretty great character and I loved getting to read her story. All in all, this was such an enjoyable read and I highly recommend you check this book out when it comes out on December 3rd.

This book is so charming! Evie is hilarious and I loved reading all the meet cutes. I wish this is a movie because I can just picture how these play out. I loved Ben and Anette from the beginning and loved how they interacted with each other. I spent half of the book wondering which guy she would end up with and then a while so scared that she would end up with the wrong guy. The ending was so satisfying and I was glad to see how it played out.

Is there anyone out there who doesn't love a good meet-cute? A single gal (or guy) out there who doesn't dream of their very own Notting Hill, Sleepless in Seattle or You've Got Mail? If so, Would Like to Meet is definitely the book for you. Evie, the assistant to an agent, finally has her shot at a promotion, but of course, her fate is left in the hands of an impossible client, Ezra - one who wants her to stage her own meet cutes to give him ideas to penn the movie he's contracted to write.

While a little silly, Would Like to Meet was definitely a good story, it held my interest and made me smile. The addition of widower Ben and his amazing, precocious daughter Anette added a great deal of heart to the book and were the perfect foil for Ezra's grating antics. This one is definitely not steamy, so for those of you who prefer your romance on the conservative side - you're in luck here!

Overall this was a solid 4 star read for me and I can't wait to see what's next from this new voice.

This is a very cute and fun rom-com that I could see being made into a movie. There's romance involved, but the characters aren't all over each other from the beginning. I like seeing a romance develop from love-hate into something better! The author is British and her sense of humor is very dry, which made the book even more fun to read.

I highly recommend this book.

The synopsis sounded great. I do enjoy a good rom-com from time to time, especially a British one. I didn't hate this story, but I also didn't love it. It was just an okay read for me. The story did have potential as I did kind of laugh in a few parts, but it took me way too long to really get into the story. I will probably read the author's next effort. Would Like to Meet was a strange reading experience for me. I loved the opening scenes, but then I hit a weird patch where I wasn't really into the book. I think I need to blame that on my mood. I was super tired. I set the book down for the day and when I came back to it, it picked up for me in a couple of chapters. I was into the story for pretty much the rest of the book.

What I liked about Would Like to Meet:

*The meet-cutes. They were hilarious!
*Ben. He was quiet and a little judge-y, but I totally identified with his judging. I was judging Evie in a similar way. Plus, he was the perfect love interest for the story.
*Anette. She's Ben's daughter and involved in all the cuteness of the story. I loved the part she played in this romance.
*Ezra/NOB. He was a great villain. I loved his ridiculousness.
*All the awkward, horrible mistakes Evie made.
*The writing was good for a début author.

Things I disliked:

*The screenplay sections at the beginning of each chapter. They fit the story, I just wasn't a fan of them. They bogged down my reading experience.
*Evie. I wasn't a fan of her. She drove me nuts because she was so oblivious. If I could see what was coming, why couldn't she? It was that predictable.
*It needed more Ben and Anette.

Overall, I enjoyed reading Would Like to Meet. It wasn't my favorite book, but there were a lot of great things about it. I really loved all the awkward meet-cutes and the parts with Ben and Anette. It was a strong début novel, and I'm looking forward to seeing what's next for this author.
