I received an ARC of this book in return for an honest review.

I Will Make You Pay by Teresa Driscoll is a solid psychological thriller that succeeds in building suspense and intrigue, delivering plenty of unexpected twists along the way. The novel explores a chilling stalker plot, and Driscoll does a great job of keeping the reader on edge, slowly building toward a satisfying climax. The "HIM" chapters, which are told from the stalker's perspective, add an eerie and compelling layer to the story, enhancing the tension and anticipation as readers wait for the final reveal.

However, about halfway through, the novel introduces a series of subplots—such as Alice’s relationship with her mother, and Matthew’s interactions with his daughter and clients—which don’t add much to the primary storyline and detract from the suspense. These extra threads tend to dilute the core stalker plot, leaving the story feeling somewhat unfocused. The stalker himself remains more of a background presence until the later chapters, which leaves the narrative a bit light on truly chilling moments. While I enjoyed the suspense, I did correctly identify the stalker early on, so the ending lacked a bit of punch.

Overall, I Will Make You Pay is a gripping and well-paced thriller with some memorable twists, though it might have been stronger with a tighter focus on its central stalker theme. Fans of psychological thrillers will still find plenty to enjoy.

Newspaper journalist Alice receives a strange phone call at work, threats are made, and the plot thickens. Alice continues getting disturbing threats and hires a private eye to find her stalker. This book is well written and just a lot of fun to read. Ms. Driscoll spent many years as a journalist and you can certainly tell when reading this one. I highly recommend this if you like a quick, thrilling read.

I recently finished reading this incredible book and I couldn't wait to share my thoughts. Overall, I found the book to be quite enjoyable, although I did have some reservations about the way it concluded. If it weren't for that, I would have gladly given it a 5-star rating!

Right from the beginning, the story had me completely engrossed as the truth slowly unraveled about who was stalking Alice and the reasons behind it. The author did an excellent job of portraying the range of emotions that Alice experienced as the threats intensified, and her growing sense of paranoia and suspicion. It made her feel incredibly vulnerable, and I found myself deeply empathising with her.

One aspect of the story that particularly resonated with me was Alice's unwavering concern for her sick mother, and the beautifully portrayed bond between Alice and her sister Leanne. There were moments when the panic Alice felt was so vivid, especially during a highly tense scene on a train.

I also appreciated the reintroduction of characters from previous books, even though this one can be read as a standalone. The additions of Matthew Hill and DI Melanie Sanders were particularly well done, and their friendship added a nice touch to the narrative. The occasional moments of dark humour added some light-heartedness to the story, and I thoroughly enjoyed the story-line about one of Matthew's clients and their issues with European Lilliputians. Witnessing Matthew's kindness towards this client was truly heartwarming.

Throughout the book, I found myself grappling with numerous questions, which I found to be incredibly engaging. The "Him" sections evoked a myriad of emotions in me, ranging from deep sadness to horror at what he must have endured, along with a profound sense of helplessness. The storytelling was excellent - straightforward and effectively kept the narrative moving, which, in my opinion, is a major plus. As a devoted fan of Teresa Driscoll's books, I can confidently say that this one was particularly outstanding.

This was definitely a fast paced, edge of your seat thriller. I read this in one sitting and will definitely be recommending it to everyone.

When Alice receives threatening messages every Wednesday, she must figure out why. Is it related to a story she's reported on, or is it something more personal? Alternating with Alice's story is the POV of her hired private investigator, whose character I loved. Finally, we get a glimpse into the mind of her stalker as his POV is also represented. This was a suspenseful and enjoyable read. There were a lot of red herrings before the stalker was revealed, and it was a great ending!

Alice is being stalked. At first she dismisses the strange phone call, but then becomes a distressed as the calls continue and she is threatened.

The story is told by the perspective of Alice and her stalker, it also changes from the past to the present. I appreciate being able to know both sides of the story. While it is too "adult" for the majority of my students, I know some of my students would love reading the book.

I was give the opportunity to read this by NetGalley, in exchange for an honest review.

Alice Henderson's Wednesday started like normal, that was until when she was at her job with the newspaper she got a call threatening her life with a cheese cutter string. Shaken, she headed to the coffee shop where someone had already pre-ordered her coffee- it was like this caller knew her exact steps and her order. As the book goes along, Alice starts to dread Wednesdays as she knows that day she will receive a call from her stalker and something awful will happen. Who is stalking Alice and Why are Wednesdays important to them? Has she pissed someone off with her newspaper columns? We soon learn when the police get involved that Alice's name wasn't always the same and that a few years ago she was involved in a scandal that sent her fiancee to prison and to start fresh, she moved away and changed her name. Is he the stalker especially as he is now out of prison and cannot be located or is it someone else closer to Alice? This was a great thriller and as it's a revenge-based novel, we see the past/present timeline come into action. I Will Make You Pay by Teresa Driscoll was a great thriller that kept me guessing when the "stalker" was revealed, I was shocked as I didn't see this twist coming.

Like other Teresa Driscoll books, this story did not disappoint. I enjoyed it, and found it moved smoothly and quickly while keeping my total interest.

I actually really enjoyed this. When I read mysteries and thrillers now I judge the story based on of if I can guess what is going to happen at the end. If I can guess the twist.

And this twist blew me out of the water. I guessed the motivate but not the who. There were so many red herrings and we were being taken on so many directions for clues and it was so great.

I really truly enjoyed this one.

And it ended with a happy ending which I really appreciated

My first book by this author so wasn't sure what to expect but the title had me, it sounded like a crime thriller - my favourite genre - I was not wrong. A good quick read with some triggers (child abuse, sexual assault - tho not graphic - psychological torture).
I suspected everyone I think!
I enjoyed how the book was separated into the different characters points of view, Alice, Matthew and "him".
I particularly enjoyed reading the parts with Matthew, the private investigator and would love to read more about him.
I would recommend and may never look at Wednesdays the same way again!

Book Blurb - Every Wednesday, like clockwork, the terror returns.
Alice, a journalist has been having strange things happen to her every Wednesday. Why? That is the question and the set up to this story. It was very interesting and had me questioning some of the characters around her. At one point I thought, what if this person is involved. I was quickly distracted by someone else. I think the author did a good job of arousing suspicion and turning the story to others. In the mean time by heart cried for the little boy who was taken advantage of by a pervert. Very good flow to the book. I would highly recommend.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publishers for providing me with an ARC of this book to read and review. All opinions are my own.

This book has been on my TBR for ages. I couldn’t put it down. It will have you turning pages well into the night.

"I am going to use cheese wire on you."

Intriguing line told from a distorted voice over a phoneline. It had me hooked. Who does this, calls a newspaper and says a line like that.

I also found Alice compelling. I thought there were a few too many threads and red-herrings but I did like Alice's pieces of the mess. I liked the additional POV of the PI, Matthew. I like how real and grounded he made the story seem, and how he gave us the police side of things.

But the previous POV, the little boy. I dreaded these parts of the story. I can see how it played in to the plot and why it seemed it was needed but I really didn't enjoy it.

All in all, lots of messy threads but I was entertained and hooked. I liked the audiobook narrators and enjoyed listening to this one.

A huge thank you to the author and publisher for providing an e-ARC via Netgalley. This does not affect my opinion regarding the book.

Due to a sudden, unexpected passing in the family a few years ago and another more recently and my subsequent (mental) health issues stemming from that, I was unable to download this book in time to review it before it was archived as I did not visit this site for several years after the bereavements. This meant I didn't read or venture onto netgalley for years as not only did it remind me of that person as they shared my passion for reading, but I also struggled to maintain interest in anything due to overwhelming depression. I was therefore unable to download this title in time and so I couldn't give a review as it wasn't successfully acquired before it was archived. The second issue that has happened with some of my other books is that I had them downloaded to one particular device and said device is now defunct, so I have no access to those books anymore, sadly.

This means I can't leave an accurate reflection of my feelings towards the book as I am unable to read it now and so I am leaving a message of explanation instead. I am now back to reading and reviewing full time as once considerable time had passed I have found that books have been helping me significantly in terms of my mindset and mental health - this was after having no interest in anything for quite a number of years after the passings. Anything requested and approved will be read and a review written and posted to Amazon (where I am a Hall of Famer & Top Reviewer), Goodreads (where I have several thousand friends and the same amount who follow my reviews) and Waterstones (or Barnes & Noble if the publisher is American based). Thank you for the opportunity and apologies for the inconvenience.

I was provided an ARC of this book via Netgalley, but I have since purchased both the ebook and audiobook versions. I opted to listen to the audiobook, as always all opinions are my own.

This book has been on my TBR for ages, and I'm glad I finally got around to it. I needed a good phycological thriller that I didn't have figured out by the end of the 2nd chapter and didn't have insufferable characters. The author does a good job giving you the run around and misdirecting you as to who the stalker might be throughout. You kind of suspect everyone at one point or another, but no one seems like a likely candidate. I appreciated that I didn't really know who it was until the reveal. I also appreciated that the author was able to put her real life experience as a journalist into play in the storyline.

This is an older title so I won't go too much into detail as the synopsis give you a good summary of what the story is about with out too many spoilers. Alice is a journalist, and it quickly becomes apparent that she has a stalker when every Wednesday something odd, creepy or terrible happens. The stalker escalates each week, but the police and the private investigator that Alice and her partner hire can't find the stalker or any motive as to why she is being targeted. Alice is forced to take time off from work but she is itching to get back out there and write the pieces she is passionate about. Alice is determined to uncover the link between her and the person tormenting her.

I really enjoyed this thriller. Alice was stubborn at times and didn't always make the best choices, but after thinking about it I have to imagine that anyone under those conditions in real life might not make the best choices given the circumstances. I thought the author did a good job portraying the frustrating truth about law enforcement when it comes to stalkers. There isn't much they can do until a crime is committed and they have an actual suspect, which is very frustrating and terrifying for the victim. I also liked that we got perspectives from Alice, Matt (the PI), and "Him" (the stalker). We really get to understand each of them and their motivations throughout. You often don't get the perspective of the villain, but we got to see "his" side and you almost sympathize with him a bit. I thought that was a creative touch.

Overall, this was a quick read with good pacing and decent action.

The pacing of the book was good. I thought I would enjoy the stalker theme more than I did. I was a little uncomfortable. The subject matter may not be for me.

The beginning is what caught my attention. The cheese omg i know what they look like and my god i could picture it in my head. The story is really well told. Hope to read more from this author.

I enjoy a good stalker tale. The tension here was good and I enjoyed the mysterious "HIM" POV but this one ultimately fell a bit flat for me in the end. A good read but I had it figured out and was hoping for more in the end.

A great book for emotionally disturbing the reader as you will wish you could grab Alice by the shoulders and give her a good 'talking to', as paranoia, fear and frustration lead her to make some very dubious decisions in the face of escalating behaviour from 'HIM'. You'll quickly find yourself embroiled in the story, flying through the pages and if you can figure out who the bad guy is you're better than me, as I got it totally wrong!
