This book was not great to read while home alone. I had a creeped out feeling in the pit of my stomach whilst reading it. Looking forward to reading more from this author.
Fast paced, suspenseful read. Alice is a journalist with a stalker. As you get to know her and the other characters you play a guessing game on can you figure out who it is before they strike again??
Thank you NetGalley, Teresa Driscoll and Thomas & Mercer for this advanced reader edition and hearing my honest review. Looking forward to reading more with you

'I am going to use cheese wire on you.'
The sinister first line of the opening chapter and I am hooked!
Alice is a journalist at a local paper, and when she first receives this call, she doesn't realise that Wednesday is about to become her most terrifying day of the week - for Alice has a stalker, and every Wednesday he has a new terror planned for her!
Although police take the situation seriously, lack of evidence initially means that they have nothing to act upon, so concerned boyfriend, Tom, hires PI Matthew Hill to protect Alice.
As the stalker persists and the attacks become increasingly threatening, the police and Matthew begin to fear for Alice's life, and the hunt for his identity becomes a race against time.
The story is told from three perspectives; Alice, Matthew...and the person known simply as 'Him.' The titles entitled 'Him,' are terribly sad and horrifying all at the same time as they build a picture of the man behind the stalker, the abuse he endured, the volcanic anger and rage building and waiting to erupt, and the devastating significance of Wednesday.
A great read. Enjoy.
I received a copy of this book from Netgalley in exchange for my honest opinion. This is the first book I’ve read by this author and I can say that I can’t wait to read another book by her. I found this very easy to read and it drew me in from page one. It held my interest to the very last page. Don’t miss out on reading this!
Loved this book. Really keeps you glued to the pages. Great plot, characters and good ending. Looking forward to more from this author.
Chilling! Alice is a campaigning journalist, seeking social justice. She has upset someone, but what has she done? And to whom? Who can she trust? Where is she safe? As Alice becomes more and more anxious, her ability to trust her own instincts is eroding, and her safety and sanity is threatened. A great read
I was provided with a complimentary copy of this book so I could give an honest review.
Teresa Driscoll's most popular book is I am Watching You. Her latest thriller is I Will Make You Pay. Enjoying an earlier book, The Promise, as much as I did, I was excited to have the opportunity to review her new novel.
In I Will Make You Pay Journalist Alice Henderson receives a threatening phone call while at work. Dismissing it as a hoax, she hangs up. Exactly one week later, it becomes apparent it is not a hoax. Alice should be worried. Alice's family should be worried. Alice should be worried for and about her family.
The twists and turns work. The characters are fully developed and likable. The story flows so well it was hard to find a stopping point. I ended staying awake much later than I should have on a work night. However, the story was worth it and did not disappoint.
After thoroughly enjoying both The Promise and I Will Make You Pay, I added other books by Teresa Driscoll to my "want to read" list. If she keeps writing thrilling books like the two I read, I will continue reading them.

This is the first book I’ve read by this author and will definitely look up her others. Stalker thrillers are one of my favourite types of plot line and this did it justice. The storyline was great as the build up of Wednesday’s come and the new issue maun character Alice has to deal with. Great story with a brilliant twist.
This book grabs you from the beginning and it is very hard to put down.
Every Wednesday the terror begins. The phone rings and on the end of that call is mysterious called with a chilling threat. We meet Alice, a journalist who hangs up and assumes it is just a hoax. Then the following Wednesday it happens again and this time that threat becomes more real.
Someone wants Alice to suffer, every Wednesday those calls get more serious and more chilling. Alice doesn’t want to give in to that fear, but when threats are aimed at her family, she takes note.
Who would want to harm her? Has one of her articles really annoyed someone? Why is she being targeted? As you the plot thickens, the story unravels, just arrived the right pace to keep you guessing!
Alica starts getting weird notes then threats every Wednesday. Is it dangerous or just someone trying to scare her?
There were a lot of twists and turns in this book, and a lot of plausible suspects. The two things I liked best were the mother / daughter love portrayed, and how well the book showed the feelings of the victim - they are complicated, and that was very well done.
Another cracking read from Teresa Driscoll. It had me at the first chapter and kept me on edge throughout. I even dreamed of the ending but had it completely wrong! Well written, tightly plotted. Already looking forward to her next one!
I Will Make You Pay is a very suspenseful mystery that keeps you guessing until the end. It is written in three person point of view, from present time to the past and back to the present. It reminds the reader that not everything is always at it seems, but the love of family is always consistent. We never truly know what someone is thinking, what trials they have endured in their past, or what motives lie beneath someone’s actions. A gripping story, filled with twists and turns, that will leave you asking, “who is it?”.
I enjoyed this page turning book. It was well written. Glad that I read it. Will be checking other books by this author.
This was a very realistic story of a journalist who was targeted by a stalker. There were two stories running side by side, obviously related but not revealed until the end. The conclusion was excellent rising to a climax and finishing on a positive note. Great read.
“I will Make You Pay” was the first book I read by Teresa Driscoll. Sadly, I’m a bit disappointed. Was the book a thriller? Yes. Did it hold my interest? Of course. However, something was missing. I really liked how it was told with multiple point of views as well as the alternating timelines. What really influenced my review was the ending and how everything was wrapped up. It was just all so abrupt and I predicted the culprit early on. I also had a little trouble connecting with the characters. Overall, this was an ok read. I am looking forward to reading more from this author soon.
* I received an advance digital copy of this book from NetGalley and the publisher in exchange for an honest review.*
I bookmarked Teresa Driscoll some time ago now as an author to dive for, and was gutted in the last week that I'd left this book wilting on my Netgalley list (you've probably noticed by now one of my new years resolutions is to work my way through this list!).
I most definitely wasn't disappointed. The book opens on slightly too tough a note for me, a robotic voice on the end of journalist Alice's line, giving her a terrible warning. The image it conjured up made me wince, and I wondered if this was the book for me at all.
This for me was one of the toughest parts in terms of grisliness (disclaimer: of course that's always open to interpretation!) and most violence in the book was implied or mentioned and not delved into too much. A trigger warning too is that if someone is going through anything in relation to perhaps having parents in hospital, this might be one to shelve for a while, had I read this two months ago when a friend's parent had died, I don't think I'd have been able to take it. Saying that it is beautifully dealt with, and I fell into the author's writing.
Alice's sinister warnings increase in threat every Wednesday and soon there's a race to protect her from what seems to be inevitable. At the same time we have two things going on, the presence of something that makes it much akin to any of the top police procedurals I've read, us seeing Matthew Hill, a private investigator and Melanie Sanders from the police force, working together. I LOVED their methods and the work going on and would like to suggest seeing them again!!
The 'who can you trust' part was done perfectly, with me conjuring up different suspects regularly, and on edge as each Wednesday approached. I loved the other voice in the book, that of a little boy telling his story, and my heart broke for him, seeing how he became the man he was today. I loved the race to the finish, although, if I'm being pernickity, I think it was wrapped up too quickly. Basically I adored this book and can't wait to read Ms. Driscoll again! Thanks so much to Thomas and Mercer and Netgalley for the book in return for an honest review.
Rating: Beyond beyond recommended at 5/5!
I Will Make You Pay is a really good psychological thriller. I enjoy Teresa Driscoll's writing, loved her previous novel I Am Watching You. In I Will Make You Pay, Alice is being stalked and threatened. It was a great ride which kept me guessing. Thank You to NetGalley for the advanced copy.
I give this book 3.5 stars
I enjoyed this book, believable main characters who each tell their side of the story story. The identity of the stalker keeps you guessing and made me want to keep reading.
Suspense and thrills just the kind of book l like!
Thank you to Netgalley
As some of the other reviewers said, I really liked the premise of the book and I was expecting a tense and engaging story, I was keen to lose myself in the events.
Suffice to say that this did not happen. The story is told in a very mild way, events happened and the story developed.. but instead of gripping me, it mildly bored me. I enjoyed some of the plot twists and the prose is fine,, but I did not connect at all with the main character - in fact I found her quite annoying and insipid.
I’m happy to try more of this author’s work though, as I am a fan of this genre, but I would not recommend this particular title.
From the opening scene to the surprise ending, Driscoll had me engrossed in her latest thriller.
Loved the depth of detail we get into the life of journalist Alice Henderson--the multifaceted protagonist in this fast-paced thriller. Twists and turns kept me guessing and engaged.
A great read!
