Oooo I really liked this one, loved the plot and the “Wednesday stalker” I had no idea who it was until the end of the book, loved the character of Jack and thought this one was a real classic page turner!
Will be recommending it to my friends for sure, a very good novel.
This book was definitely a page turner. Once I thought who and why someone else popped up with a new theory. Alice’s stalker was in plain sight for a reason she couldn’t control. So much suspense in one book. I definitely would recommend this book.
Wow I enjoyed this book! It is definitely a psychological thriller that will keep you guessing until the very end. I will be recommending this one to my family and friends.
Thank you Netgalley for the ARC!
Great book, I couldn’t put it down. The story line involving a ‘Wednesday’ stalker was gripping and intriguing, Alice was a bit headstrong at times and Jack was quite mysterious. However, I loved all of the characters and had no idea who the stalker was until the end.
Well worth reading.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read and review.
A good thriller that is easy to read. I felt like a bit more background into what made the stalker do what he did (what really happened to him on Wednesday’s?) would have created a more rounded character
Great read, had me on the hook all the way to the end. I read this as an ARC and couldn't put it down. In a lot of books in this genre it's obvious where they story is going somewhere between halfway and 3/4 way through. In this book I 100% did not see it coming. What a twist. I would definitely recommend anyone who likes this genre should read this book.
I've been interested in reading something by this author for a while. Luckily, I snagged a copy of this via Netgalley (and give my review voluntarily). This has everything I want in a psychological thriller, including some very unexpected twists! This won't be my last read from Teresa Driscoll.
Very mysterious and suspicious. Great twists and an overall good storyline. I couldn’t put it down. 10/10 would recommend!
"I Will Make You Pay" by Teresa Driscoll
An amazing read for me on this psychological thriller about Alice Henderson a local journalist who receives a threat like clockwork every Wednesday. The threats are getting worse and her family is now getting affected by this stalker. This is a thriller read that I love where there are twist and turns that I never expect and the creativity of the writing is superb. This is a well thought out psychological thriller that is heart wrenching and the characters relatable. This is a read that is gripping and very hard to put down, and did cause a sleepless night for me. It was that good and I was completely mesmerized by the writing. Driscoll knew how to capture my attention and kept me there until the very last page. Well done on this amazing psychological thriller read. I highly recommend this amazing thriller/suspense.
This was not a page turner in my opinion. I couldn’t wait to finish this book only because I wanted it to end. It was drawn out with everything happening at once in the end. Rather boring but not horrible. Took me forever to read only because I wasn’t interested.
I have been a fan of Teresa Driscoll for many years and I loved I Am Watching You but I felt like this book fell a little flat. I guess I was comparing it to other books I have loved by her and expected something way more than I should have. I couldn't get around the fact that the main character kept repeating "cheese wire" for so long.
Oh wow! I loved this book. This book really had me getting up every morning hoping work would end so I could get back to reading it. This book really made me think about safety and security in this crazy world. I liked how the author really had a good lead up to the amazing ending which I wont ruin here. Am definitely looking forward to additional titles by this author!
I have loved this authors previous work so I was excited to get my hands on the newest novel! Definitely did not disappoint. All the right twists and turns, some things were predictable while others were totally out of left field. This is a great psychological thriller.
I enjoyed. I WILL MAKE YOU PAY was a good read. It kept my attention throughout. He was raised by his gran but on wednesday night she had to work the night shift. He stayed by himself. He was about 7-8. When he heard the first knock on the door he avoided it. But. Then came more and threats of calling child services he was afraid not to answer. But life got worse on wednesdays and he couldnt tell his gran
But little boys grow up and have many terrible memories. So he dicided he could pay back those who have hurt him all his life And he did
Now you must figure out who he is. Someone is trying to get Alice. There is an old boyfriend, a new boyfriend and a work companion among many others!
This book had some great twists. I was very surprised by the reveal of “him” especially! I also really liked how strong the character of Alice was. Other than that, it was a little slow and a little too much buildup for my liking.
I Will Make You Pay is a light thriller about a woman whose life’s turned upside down after receiving a threatening phone call. The story is well-paced and the characters are well developed, especially within the Him parts - where my interest mainly lay. I liked the writing and the police procedural aspect, which helped the storyline to run smoothly.
There were a few shocks I absolutely hadn't seen coming. I didn’t find the ending to be completely mind-blowing but it is definitely satiating, especially for readers who are new to the genre.
There’s a dash of predictability that creeps up within the final chapters of the book, leaning more towards the emotional aspect of the strong bond between journalist Alice and her mother.
What I still memorize from this read is the fear that was instilled in our protagonist, and what it was like for her to live with that dreadful sense of terror.
I admired the fact that the author, like the protagonist herself, is a reporter. And she drew inspiration from one of her own life experiences. I'm definitely curious to see what this author writes next
Every Wednesday, journalist Alice, receives a threatening note. Her husband, Tom, is concerned so he employs a private investigator to trace who the culprit is.
Great read with plenty twists. This is one of my favourite books by this author. Thank you to netgalley and the publishers for this arc in exchange for my honest review.
So, this was my first Teresa Driscoll novel and it was not bad, but also not my favorite. The beginning of the book hooked me right away and started so strong, but many subplots started to cloud the writing and make the story kinda messy. I actually figured out the ending pretty early-on and I hate when that happens, although I do read a lot of thrillers so sometimes it's fine if this is also accompanied with strong prose and character development. This book was not. I did keep reading because I had to know if I was right, so it did hold my interest and it was a pretty fast read. I did appreciate the author's keen knowledge on how it felt to be targeted and she revealed in her author's note that she went through a stalking incident during her years as a journalist. Thankfully for her, there was no escalation. But it's very clear throughout this novel that she knows exactly how Alice felt. I think many readers will enjoy this and many will be scared by the stalker story, it just wasn't super thrilling for me. I will read other novels by her though and give it another shot. Thanks so much for the ARC!
Alice is a reporter who keeps getting threats in the guise of gifts. At first she's not sure how seriously she should take this special attention. Afterall as a journalist she's not unused to the type of weirdos her job attracts and she's seen these types of pranks before. Her coworkers urge caution but the police seem nonplussed. They don't know the significance behind some of the messages Alice has received. They don't know her past. No one, not even Alice knows what's so special about Wednesdays.
Typically I'm excited when a mystery throws me a curveball. I have to admit that I never would have guessed who the stalker was nor their motive. Yet, instead of riding that high that comes with the thrill of surprise I felt cheated in some way. I can't quite explain it but it felt as if something were missing. Perhaps some sort of connection to make it more believable. Although the ending was a bit of a letdown, the plot did keep me turning the pages.
Special thanks to NetGalley, Amazon Publishing UK and Teresa Driscoll for access to this book.
This one didn't catch me as quickly as other books of hers have, but I did still enjoy it.
It starts with a threatening phone to call to Alice at work on a Wednesday. Then the following Wednesday comes along and things seem to escalate from the phone call. Week by week events keep happening with no rhyme or reason why the culprit has chosen Alice. After a bit we flash back and forth between Alice and Him, the villain and I truly felt sad for both of them. We the readers get more insight at the end since we've had his perspective than those in the actual story do.
