I'm sad to say that, despite the synopsis, this story didn't really draw me in. Some things were over exaggerated and drawn out, which didn't add suspense (which I'm sure was the intention behind it) but made it a bit boring. I really enjoyed how in the end the stalker didn't give away the motive behind his actions to the victim in the dying paragraphs like every other book. I liked how we learned his motives when the story switched to his point of view. The ending wasn't overly shocking and somewhat predictable, but I will say this story was a unique twist on the classic stalker story, and I'm looking forward to reading more from Driscoll.

3.5 stars rounded to 4.

This book quickly captivated me, but when finished I felt like it was missing something. More info on what happened to Alex and why the singing. And more background on Tom. I felt like the connection wasn't built up enough.

Overall a quick and enjoyable read.

This book will keep you reading as Teresa Driscoll builds the tension slowly, page by page. A community activist working to make her community a better place finds herself the object of a stalker's attentions. The mystery is why? As the police struggle to identify her stalker, the consequences intensify to the point where you just know something bad is going to happen on the next page...or the next one. The back story fits the characters so well you can see them struggling to solve this puzzle before anyone else is hurt. A really good story that was a satisfying read.

When the story got off to a slow start (in my opinion), I wasn't sure I wanted to persevere, but when it picked up, it really did pick up! There are two counter stories: A single woman who is being threatened on a weekly basis and a man whose tale goes back to childhood. The reader wonders how and when the two will come together. You need to read it to find out HOW. About 90% of the way through the book is WHEN.. But hold on; there is still more to come!

Private Investigator Matthew Hill is back, struggling to cope with his daughter Amelie`s terrible twos and not having any cases apart from a man who insists that he keeps being visited by the little people who are planning to kidnap him. So Matthew is relived when he is contacted by Tom Steller who asks if Matthew is willing to help his girlfriend, journalist Alice Henderson who is being harassed by an unknown stalker. Matthew has never been involved in a stalker case before and is unsure if he will be able to help. But after having a meeting with heavily pregnant DI Melanie Sanders and being reminded of a stalking case from their training days that resulted in the victims death,Matthew finds that he cannot resist getting involved in Alice's case.

As the intensity of the attacks on Alice escalate and her stalker starts targeting Alice's frail mother,Matthew and Melanie struggle to figure out who is terrorising her and why? Why do the attacks only happen on a Wednesday? Is it someone from her past? Someone who has been upset by an article that she wrote for her paper? Or the last person that any of them would suspect?

Can they crack the case before Alice pays the ultimate price....with her life?

The chapters of this intense thriller alternate between Matthew and Alice. I love Matthew Hill,he Is one of my favourite fictional characters,he is just so likeable for various reasons. I love the banter and the mutual respect between him and Melanie. I thought it was really sweet how patient he was with Ian and his obsession with the little people. I thought Alice was a fantastic character, feisty,a little stubborn but very determined that she wasn't going to let some sadistic creep stop her from living her life. Interspersed throughout the story there was chapters that were voiced from the point of view of a male character starting from the age of seven until he was an adult. But who was he and how did he fit into the story? This story only had a small cast of characters but there was definitely enough suspects to keep the reader guessing about the identity of Alice's antagonist.

I Will Make You Pay is a tightly plotted, page turner that keeps the reader guessing and frantically turning the pages. It's a gripping thriller that plays with the readers emotions, has quite a few twists and turns and builds in intensity as the story unfolds. I love Teresa Driscoll`s books and this one was no exception, her characters are always vivid and realistic. Her story telling enthralling and captivating, drawing the reader into her characters fictional worlds. Amazing book and very, very highly recommended.

A journalist, Alice is being stalked by someone who wants to frighten and harm her.
It starts with a phone call, and quickly escalates to more threatening behaviour, always on the same day of the week.
She has been involved in some high-profile stories, and also has secrets of her own, which complicate the issue, and is unsure of the motives of the stalker.
She enlists the help of an ex-policeman, who is now a PI, and can use his police contacts her help her find the truth.
The story is told through the voices of Alice, Matthew (the PI) and an unnamed man whose life will crash into Alice’s as his motives become clear.
Along the way we take in child abuse, charity fraud, and of course the reality of what it feels like to be stalked, which is very emotionally evoked.
My only complaint was that the ending, which I didn’t guess, was a little too tidy.
This was my first Teresa Driscoll, and I hadn’t realised that some characters appeared in previous books – this book stood well on its own, and I will certainly read more.

Thanks to Netgalley for the opportunity to read this book.

I Will Make You Pay by Teresa Driscoll is a suspense that grabs your attention from the first sentence.

Alice is a journalist who works for a small newspaper. She receives a very creepy phone call at her office from someone who threatens her. A few days go by and she's feeling better until something else happens. Alice has a stalker. She has no idea who is tormenting her and seems to know too much information about her life. She is afraid for herself but she's even more afraid for her family. Who is this person who is stalking her? What does he want? Why her?

I did not want to put this book down. It is well written to keep you in suspense until the very end.

What a totally awesome, fantastic, page turner. I would think I would have it figured out and then nope something would happen. It wasn’t until close to the end that I figured it out! I love this book Teresa, thank you!

I loved this book! Its exactly the kind of thriller i enjoy -Alice has a stalker and we don't know who it is - Told from multiple points of view - Alice, "Him" and Matthew the private investigator. Plenty of twists and a couple of stories that eventually come together. Very well written - I can't wait to read some of the author's other books!

Alice Henderson gets a nasty call which she ignores at first. At least until she gets another the following week. She goes to the police but they get nowhere. The calls continue. Her fiance calls in a private investigator to help out on the case.
Through all of this Alice and her sister Leanne are struggling with their mother's bad health. You can really feel the love they have for her and each other.
Alice changes her passwords on social media and there are investigations into her work place. The tension just keeps building.

This is my first book by Teresa Driscoll and though her writing is a bit formal, I will be looking for more of her work and recommend this book to thriller fans.

Alice is a reporter who works hard finding just the right story. Then the unthinkable happens. Every Wednesday she gets a message, a threat. When her lover Tom hires a private detective, she feels somewhat better. But even with Matthew there, the threats continue to escalate, leading us readers on a merry chase of reality versus fiction. I especially enjoyed the way the author told part of the story from Alice's viewpoint and part from that of the stalker. His identity remains secret until the climax unfolds, another excellent plus about the book. Fans of psychological thrillers will want to read this book and will be happy to know that in the midst of all of the chills, a happy ending awaits.

I received a digital advanced reader copy of this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

I have two words for this book: Completely Unpredictable. I read this book in less than a day and I was on the edge of my seat the WHOLE TIME. The plot is not cheesy or predictable at all. There is not a lot of gore or vulgar language, it is just a solid thriller.

I really thought the best part about this book is that parts of it were written from the criminal's perspective. It almost confuses you into empathizing with the criminal and you try to justify their actions as well.

There are so many solid twists and turns in this story and it makes for a great page turner. The characters were well developed and the plot was seamless. I loved the multiple timelines. The story itself builds very quickly. I really did not expect the twist on who the stalker was. It had me completely floored.

Thank you to Netgalley, the author, and the publisher for allowing me to review this amazing book. I loved it.

I would firstly like to thank Netgalley and the publishers for allowing me the opportunity to read this book in exchange for an honest review.

This was a first read from this author and I LOVED this one! Right from the get-go, I was drawn in by the intriguingly detailed and heartpounding story. All I could think about was how scared/creeped out I'd be if I was Alice! Brilliantly written plot, excellent characters and an ending that had me gasping in shock.
Can't wait to read this author's earlier books.

A slow burner that picked up pace and became an average thriller. Just OK if you want a full on high paced thriller this isnt one I would recommend

I Will Make You Pay started out slower at the beginning with all of the pertinent information, but once it picked up speed it moved very quickly. I thought there was a good amount of suspense and misdirection which made for great story telling. I also liked the different perspectives told through different timelines as well to help the reader completely understand the characters motivations. It did become predictable which does bother me when I can guess who the stalker is only half way through

This was a fun thriller. Ever since Gone Girl, Ive been reading this style of novel and this one , although it was good doesn't rate a 5 star

This was a good book, centered around Alice who starts getting scary stalker messages on Wednesdays. She can't figure out who would want to scare her, or what the relevance of the Wednesday messages is. Some chapters are written from the Private Investigator, Matthew's, POV, and some chapters from the mystery stalker are interspersed as well. I particularly liked Matthew, from his easy relationship with the police detective, to the family dynamic with his wife and daughter, the guy he tried to help out even though he wasn't getting paid to do so. He seemed both smart and empathetic and I was particularly interested in his chapters.

This was a fast read that started off tense from the beginning. I figured out who the "bad guy" was but questioned myself the entire way through, as there were a few different ways it could have gone. The author lets the reader know the significance of the Wednesdays, but the characters themselves never find out. I couldn't decide how I felt about that- wouldn't that come out at some point in the investigation?

I also didn't find the side story about Claire, who led the stalker charity, to add anything to the story. That could have been left out entirely without changing the story.

Overall, interesting book and good mystery that I would recommend.

Thanks to Netgalley for providing me this book in exchange for an honest review.

Journo Alice Henderson receives an unpleasant anonymous phone call and hangs up dismissing it as a crank call. However the next Wednesday something happens which seems to be connected to the phone call.

Who wants her to suffer? The police aren’t much use and her boyfriend, Tom hires an ex-cop private investigator to look out for her on a Wednesday. She’s also very worried when her stalker seems to want to target those closest to her – her ailing mother and only sister.

She’s one of the paper’s stars and has been working on a local story involving a campaign to tear down a block of flats which is riddled with damp – everyone seems over the moon that the campaign has been successful.

There’s also a story running alongside about a small boy who lives with his much loved gran and initially I wasn’t sure where they tied in with the story but their stories are very cleverly interwoven.

We find out a little about Alice’s past which makes for surprising and unpleasant reading – is her stalker from that part of her past? It’s a fast paced read which had me questioning everything and that twist! I never saw that coming for one moment.

A brilliant read which I highly recommend.
