The story is told through multiple POVs: Alice (MC), Past Alice, “Him” (past), and finally the private investigator that is hired to help protect Alice. Driscoll did an admirable job of juggling the POVs without slowing down the pacing too terribly much. Including the “him” POV certainly made the subject a bit more pitiful due to his rotten childhood but it was incredibly difficult to read, especially as a parent to a young child. The emotional turmoil experienced by Alice, and the younger “him,” felt all too authentic and took this reader on and unsettling rollercoaster of emotions.

In true thriller fashion, this story is rife with twists and turns that surprised me and kept me guessing. Though as the story continued, I found I didn’t care for Alice. I can’t really go into why without spoilers but I will say that if you are in danger and there is a police inquiry, it is better to be safe than sorry.

While I didn’t connect with Alice, I truly looked forward to the chapters with the private investigator, Matthew! I have a child in the midst of the terrible twos right now so I loved the small palate cleanser of Matthew and Sally’s battles with their tiny tyrant to break up the Wednesday-induced tension.

Ultimately, this was a chilling thriller that made me dread Wednesdays just a bit. I loved that Driscoll highlights the difficulties that victims face when being stalked and how limited police can be when investigating those crimes. This was my first thriller by Driscoll and I would certainly pick up more of her work in the future.

This is a great psychological thriller that had me hooked from the first few pages.
Alice gets a strange phone call at work from someone using a voice changer. She’s a journalist so thinks it could be something to do with her job, so her boss calls the Police.
It happens again the following Wednesday and soon Alice is dreading Wednesdays as the person is making her life hell.
Her boyfriend suggests they get a private detective to help as the Police are so stretched, so Matthew stays with Alice each Wednesday to try and identify who is stalking her and making her life a misery.
Soon it’s not just Alice’s life at risk and she is desperate for this to end.
This one had me on the edge of my seat and I loved the ending.
Thanks to Amazon Publishing and NetGalley for the opportunity to read this book.

With thanks to Netgalley and Amazon for this ARC in exchange for an open and honest review.

One Wednesday journalist Alice Henderson received a phone call threatening to slice her with a cheese wire. Alice was upset and thought it was a one off. The following Wednesday Alice`s mothers favourite flowers were delivered to her office.

Worried for Her safety, Alice`s boyfriend Tom hired ex police man turned private investigator Matthew Hill. As the stalker`s attacks accelerate Matthew and pregnant DI Melanie Sanders try to find the culprit.

Meanwhile Alice was scared the stalker might be someone from her past. Someone she had to run to extraordinary lengths to escape from.

The story is told from the POV of Alice, Matthew and a little boy cared for by his loving gran.

As I read this book I was intrigued why Alice`s stalker only struck on a Wednesday.. At the end of the book Teresa Driscoll explained that when she was a young journalist she received threatening phone calls every Wednesday for three weeks. interestingly he actually apologised on the third occasion and never contacted her again.

I enjoyed this book, it has quick chapters that begged me to read a little more. I liked Alice and I could feel her terror as Wednesday edged close and closer. I had a lump in my throat when Alice and her sister held their mother's hand as she died. I also liked Matthew Hill and I was touched by the story of Paul and his leprechauns.

There were twists and turns aplenty in this book. I was shocked when the stalkers identity was revealed, I did not see that coming.

Teresa Driscoll is now on my list of go to authors. I highly recommend this book.

Alice is at work and receives a threatening phone call, she is a journalist and this is not uncommon but this time it seems worse, what is it about Wednesdays and why her, every week another thing happens and another threat.
alongside this who is the child in the sub-plot how does he fit in and what will happen to him next??

this is a very interested plot idea and I found it kept me guessing throughout. Alice was a likeable character as was Matthre the private detective hired to keep her safe.

I kept thinking I had figured it out and then something else dropped in to throw me off and the ending keep me on the edge of my seat to the last page.

thanks netgalley for the chance to read this excellent novel

5 *

What a page turner, from beginning to end! This is so brilliantly written that I had no idea of the twist right at the end. Loved the way the chapters were set out, with the periods before and now.
The only bit I didn't quite get until after I read the notes at the end was the relationship between Alice and her Mum. It's a shame I didn't pick up on that but it didn't spoil the book for me at all.

I received this ARC from Netgalley and it was absolutely amazing. I love the way it went back and forth between three characters and the past and present. I honestly didn't figure out who the bad guy was until I was at 95% and then I was like... OMG. There were great red herrings, but I didn't put it together until the last minute which made if awesome. I couldn't put it down. It was very addicting, waiting to see what was going to happen

After reading so many of this author's other thrillers and adoring each of them, I was disappointed with I Will Make You Pay. The character development was lacking, the pace was extremely slow, and there were loose strands that were never wrapped up. It was a very frustrating read because I wanted to like it some much more than I did.

I will make you Pay is everything you want from a psychological thriller. It’s gripping and tense more or less from the word go, making this an enjoyable and easy read to race through.
The storyline follows Alice, a journalist, who suddenly finds herself the target of an unknown individual determined to make Alice fear for her life.
Whilst Alice has previously had a traumatic relationship with her ex Alex, could her stalker really be him or is this the work of someone else?? Why do all the bad things happen to Alice on a Wednesday??
I think this is cleverly written , portraying Alice who although thrust into a life of fear somehow still comes across as a strong, determined woman. With the police and a private investigator on the case to discover the identity of Alice’s stalker, her life is in free fall, wondering what the stalker will do next. Although fear is a major theme in this novel so to is love. The love between Alice and her mother, who is terminally ill, is apparent throughout, as is Alice’s love for her job and her determination to live her life.
I particularly like the way the narrative switches between Alice’s present and the past of an unnamed boy and his grandmother. Obviously there is a link between the two timelines and I don’t want to reveal too much of the plot line, except to say I think the author again writes eloquently about the love between this boy and his grandmother, as well as the darker side of their lives which is distressing but dealt with by implication rather than explicitness. Love of place also underpins these sections of the novel.
All the strands of this novel are brought together expertly so that when the reveal is delivered, everything makes perfect sense and for me there’s no feeling of incredulity at any stage.
The crime of stalking, the insidious behaviour of these individuals and the terrifying fact this can often escalate into murder is dealt with sensitively and without gratuitous writing. I loved this and highly recommend. My thanks as always to the author and publisher and Netgalley for allowing me to read in exchange for an honest review.

This was such a great stalker thriller that kept me on the edge of my seat until the very end. Alice is a reporter who starts getting stalker type phone calls on Wednesdays. Her boyfriend, Tom, hires Matthew, a former police officer now private detective, to help keep an eye on Alice on Wednesdays. There are lots of very interesting things going on in this story that keeps things moving right along. I did feel that Matthew's 2-year-old daughter had a far too advanced vocabulary. If you are looking for a great stalker thriller, this is it. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC of this fantastic thriller in exchange for an honest review.

I Will Make You Pay Teresa Driscoll

Every Wednesday, like clockwork, the terror returns. Alice is a journalist, one Wednesday she takes a threatening phone call in work then each Wednesday after that the stalker makes their next move.
I absolutely loved this book! I've read all of Teresa Driscolls books and this is my favourite so far! Great pace that kept me interested the whole way through, right up to its breathtaking end.
This was a 5 star read for me. Thank you @netgalley, Teresa Driscoll and Amazon publishing for the advanced copy of this book.

Quick paced and a quick read. The switching points of view helped build suspense as well as unfold the story. Having the main character be a journalist gives her more credence and reliability. The relationship with her mother adds a touching dimension to her character and to the story and I'm relieved it wasn't tampered with. I'd like to quibble about some of the other characters and their storylines but cannot bring myself to write spoilers even if they are hidden.
