For the most part, the book was quite engrossing and kept me guessing as to the perpetrator's identity. I didn't much care for the first person narrative nor the present tense, i.e., "I look around the room..."; I draw the curtains, even though..."; I make another coffee..."; Finally I am sitting at the kitchen table..." Secondly, is it just me that's bothered by incomplete sentences, "The police can't give you a bodyguard. Or a new car. Or a new address."; "From years back. Also Jack's face."? Lastly, the word "Christ" is Greek for the Hebrew word "Messiah" meaning "anointed." Even though the author didn't use "Jesus Christ" in its entirety as a cuss word, I find it offensive that she would have included it. Hmmm, I guess it just doesn't have the same impact, "Not after two phone calls like that. A voice changer, for Buddha's sake."

I really enjoyed this book. This was one that I thought I had figured out, and I was SO WRONG! I love books like that! Alice begins getting messages from what appears to be a stalker. The messages become more and more frightening! How will Alice, her boyfriend, and the private investigator keep her safe and figure out who is threatening her?!? Great book!

This is a very good psychological thriller. I felt empathy with Alice, the main character, though she was annoying at times when she insisted on going against security advice. The story is told in separate strands: Alice and 'him'; and 'before' and 'after'; though these are clearly marked and this works well. The twist at the end did take me by surprise, I thought I knew who the stalker was but of course I was wrong. I will certainly look out for Teresa Driscoll's next book.

The author did her job. I kept turning the pages. I wasn't too shocked by the story or ending, but I did like it.

I Will Make You Pay kept my interest as I needed to have the stalker revealed. I would have given this book 4 stars but in the end settled on 3.5 stars. A couple of the sub plots were superfluous. In my opinion, just words taking up space, having no relevance to the story line. I found the characters mostly to be uninteresting. But......I liked the way the book is written, with chapters dedicated to different characters. I also thought the ending was a surprise. I would recommend this book. Thank you Netgalley and Amazon Publishing UK for the opportunity to read and review this ARC.

Publisher’s description: Every Wednesday, like clockwork, the terror returns.

It seems like an ordinary Wednesday, until the phone rings. A mysterious caller with a chilling threat. Journalist Alice Henderson hangs up, ready to dismiss it as a hoax against the newspaper. But the next Wednesday, the stalker makes another move—and it becomes clear that this is all about Alice.

I requested this title because I haven't read any of her books yet and I thought this sounded good. I didn't figure it out until the end and then it made sense, but the poor guy (just a little)! I'm now a new fan of Teresa Driscoll and will go read her other books.

Thank you to Net Galley and the publishers for my ARC copy in return for an honest review. I couldn't put this one down! This title is scheduled for release on October 10, 2010.

I was given an early copy of I Will Make You Pay by Teresa Driscoll in exchange for an honest review!

I really am a fan of this author. That being said, this one just fell a tiny bit flat for me. To be fair, I’m currently recovering from major surgery and reading has been difficult. Perhaps that changed things for me. I did enjoy it- the premise was good (and creepy 🖤)- the ending just wasn’t as good as I hoped. 🤷‍♀️

I still would recommend this read to all thriller fans as well as Driscoll fans. I may revisit this after feeling better! I’m still a fan!

Thanks for the opportunity to read and review this as always I am forever a grateful reader!

There are some books in this genre that piddle around until the end, which then amps up into a satisfying and shocking conclusion. However this manages to do the inverse.

The first 90% of the book is amazing. There are three narratives told - a woman being stalked, the private detective investigating the stalking, and the backstory of the stalker. As is common in this scenario, all three storylines converge as the story unfolds. The plotting, dialogue, and characters are well written.

However, the ending feels abrupt and leaves two large plot threads dangling. I don't want to get into spoiler territory, but they were two of the more interesting angles. It frustrated me enough to drop my entire rating a star. I would have preferred full resolution, or for the threads to not have been introduced at all.

I do still recommend this book, but with the caveat that you don't get too invested in two of the sub plots. I'll put small details under my disclosure to spare spoilers.

Thank you to NetGalley for an ARC.

Spoilers

Don't waste too much time worrying about what happened on Wednesdays in the past or why the "alarm charity" is significant. You'll just be disappointed (unless I missed something, which is possible since this was an uncorrected proof).

Thank you NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for my honest review.

I've been reading a lot of psychological suspense books lately. I mean a lot. This one probably freaked me out a little bit especially by how the book started out. The threats come often and they are freaky!

Alice is a journalist who has begun receiving crazy threats that are escalating as the novel goes on and it gets intense.

Great read as always by Driscoll!

Journalist Alice Henderson seems to have a ordinary life until a call comes through at work on a Wednesday threatening to use a cheese wire on her. Clearly shocked about the call she confides in her colleague Jake.
Hopefully just a one off she carries on working but the following Wednesday another threat comes through.
Why is this person stalking Alice and could it have something to do with the secret she has been hiding?

A wonderful thriller that opens with Alice receiving a threatening phone call from which the threats continue to escalate, once a week, on Wednesdays.

The story is told in the first person from the point of view of Alice and the back story of the stalker is revealed in third person.

There are a series of twists which cast suspicion on the characters in Alice's life, and on Alice's own past, and a wonderful twist when the stalker's identity is revealed.

Recommended reading.

I’d like to thank Amazon Publishing UK and NetGalley for giving me the opportunity to read ‘I Will Make You Pay’ by Teresa Driscoll in exchange for my honest and unbiased review.

Alice, a journalist with the South Devon Informer, is at work when she receives a phone call from a man threatening to use a cheese wire on her. Alice puts it down as a hoax but on every following Wednesday she has threats made in various forms, the violence escalating from stalking her to terrorising and actual bodily harm. She’s so scared her boyfriend Tom insists on employing private detective Matthew Hill to guard her every Wednesday but will he be able to discover the identity of the stalker before Alice’s life and that of her mother are put at risk?

‘I Will Make You Pay’ is a brilliantly written fast-paced thriller which will shock and amaze in equal measure. The story moves from Alice at the present time to the stalker’s boyhood and although it’s about the effect stalking has on the victim, the love of a child for their parent is central to the plot. The characters are believable, the story full of drama and suspense, and the aside of Ian and his ‘little people’ brings down the tension momentarily before we’re hit again. There are lots of twists and turns, red herrings thrown in to confuse, but although I tried to deduce who was behind the threats I failed miserably. The final chapters are shocking and unexpected, the ending perfect, and after reading all of Teresa Driscoll’s novels this has to be the best one yet. Highly recommended and not to be missed!

This book kept me gripped all the way through. I did guess who the nasty one was but it didn't matter - the writing was just superb.

I Will Make You Pay is the latest thriller from Teresa Driscoll. This story slowly pulls you in and you find yourself invested in the main character's well being. Ms Driscoll gives us this story with some back and forth in time which she neatly weaves together. Some edge of your seat moments. I was given an early copy to review.

Another great domestic mystery by Teresa Driscoll. This is a book filled with great believable characters, lots of unexpected twists, and a great story that held my interest throughout. It involves a young female reporter, and all the people in her life. Great book. I would highly recommend this book to my friends and family. Thank you for my advance copy.

Alice is a reporter, she has a boyfriend called Tom and loves her job.
Until one Wednesday she received a threatening phone call, there was nothing else for a week, until the following Wednesday she received a bouquet of dead flowers and a cheese grater. Alice got really scared, and her boyfriend hired a detective to find out who was sending her threatening messages, Alices mother is in a nursing home and there was a threatening video sent to her about the stalker going to see her.mother.
Alice had no idea why someone was doing this to her. Until she thought it could be an old boyfriend who she had helped sending to prison when it was found he was having sex with under age girls.
This was quite a scary story as you can imagine this happening.
Thanks net galley for granting my wish to allow me to read this book,it was well written and a good thriller.

It’s just an ordinary Wednesday when Journalist Alice Henderson gets a phone call that she is going to be cut with a cheese wire. She first thinks it is a hoax. But when other things happen the following Wednesdays. Alice fears for her life. With Police have little resources, her lawyer boyfriend Tom hires a private investigator to find the culprit.
During the investigation, secrets are unturned about Alice not her real name. she changed it due to her ex-boyfriend jailed for child grooming. She doesn’t realize that he has been realized from jail until the police tell her. She then thinks that its her ex Alex doing things to punish her for what happened to him.
I will make you pay by Theresa Driscoll is the second book from the author that I have read. It is a fast-paced intense thriller with a lot of red herrings. I did enjoy this as the author kept you guessing who was stalking Alice. But, two thirds in I did guess who it and I did was expecting a bit more from the ending. But, still worth the read.

A suspenseful mystery that draws you in. Like others, I did figure out who the stalker was, but that didn't lessen my enjoyment. I wanted to know why.
