I enjoyed this book - but wasn’t totally gripped. It was a good story & well written if a little predictable. I didn’t really like (or indeed dislike) the lead character. She was too bland & I couldn’t summon any empathy for her. Worth reading but not particularly memorable.

I Will Make You Pay
Teresa Driscoll
Another great novel from Teresa Driscoll and just as gripping and enthralling as her previous ones. This is a tale of a young woman who receives a menacing phone call at work which then develops into a frightening and escalating stalking of her as well as threats to her and her family. The suspense keeps you totally hooked, I didn’t guess the identity of the stalker and was shocked when it was revealed. An excellent read.

I Will Make You Pay, by Teresa Driscoll is thriller about Alice, a journalist and her stalker, who only makes contact with her on Wednesdays.

The story is told by 3 narrators; Alice, a PI named Matthew, and the stalker who is identified as Him. These narrators rotate chapters throughout the book which I felt helped to provide more detail to the story. Teresa Driscoll kept you guessing the identity of the stalker by leaving many clues throughout, without really giving anything away until the bitter end.

I fee everyone who enjoys the genre if phsycological thriller, will find this book to be a worthwhile read.

Teresa Driscoll knows how to write thrillers. There are so many red herrings here that I feel like a ping-pong ball. Seriously, I had no idea who the bad guy was until it came out. The only downside is that there are quite a bit of unnecessary info dumps at times, which slows the pacing imo. I believe it's essential in thrillers to only give necessary background info, and I think we had a bit too much here.

Thanks to the author, publisher, and NetGalley for a copy of the ARC. All opinions are my own.

This is the first book I’ve read by the author but definitely won’t be the last! The story drew me in from the start and kept me guessing until the end.

The book was very well written and I liked the cast of characters. There plot had plenty of twists and turns and the different perspectives made me feel for every character, not just the ‘good guys’.

Overall a thoroughly enjoyable book. I’m going to be looking up the author’s other books very soon.

One of the best things a thriller can do is keep you guessing and this book does that! Every time I thought I had it figured out I was wrong. I’m not big on thrillers but I will check out more by this author because she gets it!

This is the second book from this author I’ve read and yet again I finished it feeling underwhelmed and that the whole story was slightly unrealistic and over the top. The main plot and main character were intriguing enough and the first few chapters of the book had me hooked, however the more red herrings the author brought in the more unbelievable the ending seemed. It also felt like there were huge chunks of the story just forgotten about and not tied up in the end. The entire parallel plot running alongside the main story also just abruptly ended with no explanation or bearing on the end of the book, as well as a couple of other issues raised during the book that never really came to a conclusion. I won’t read another book by this author again as felt frustrated and annoyed at the end of the book that I’d wasted time reading it

Authentic and addictive, this story explores what it’s like to be the focus of a stalker. The suspense builds from the first disturbing, unexpected contact and ends in a heart-pounding conclusion.

Alice, the journalist fulfils the role of an unreliable protagonist. She hates feeling vulnerable, not being able to live her life as she wants to. Her independence is gradually eroded. Her family is small but supportive and she is protective of them. The familial love is a strong theme of this story in both viewpoints portrayed. Alice has secrets, which are not immediately obvious but make her unreliable.

The character notated as ‘Him’, you presume is the antagonist. His story is poignant but increasingly menacing. Again familial love is a predominant theme, but here it takes a dark focus. The plot has many twists and viable suspects. Multiple plot strands, make the investigation complicated, for the police and the reader.

For those who have read the author’s previous book ‘The Promise’, Mathew Hill, the investigator is also a pivotal character in this story. His family life with wife Sally we first met in ‘The Promise’, and his lively daughter, provide light relief, in this often dark story.

This is a page-turning read. Alice is easy to empathise, and you feel her fear and frustration. The plot is relatable and clever, there are no loose ends, with it’s just ending. There is a poignant echo of the sad little boy you meet early in the story.

I received a copy of this book from Amazon Publishing via NetGalley in return for an honest review.

This was a very good book. It was split into the victim and perpetrator's point of views. It gave some background information on why he was doing this to Alice. It was a definite page turner and I did not guess who it was correctly at all. I definitely need to check out more of this author's books.

I’m between a 3 and 3.5 star rating for this one. This was definitely a pretty fast-paced story but I’d have to classify it more as suspense than a thriller. I really did enjoy the storyline while reading and was invested in finding out how the different storylines would connect and what the end result would be. I did guess the main reveal fairly early on (but I’m pretty good at guessing endings because I do read a lot of thriller/suspense/mystery). One issue I had was that I really had a hard time connecting with the main character in the story. I feel like more time was spent developing some of the secondary characters (for instance, the PI that the main character hires) so I didn’t feel as sympathetic toward the main character as I probably should have. Overall, this book kept me interested and I enjoyed reading from multiple perspectives and seeing how they connected.

I had requested this book as an ARC and then totally forgot about it. I finally just read it! I didn't expect the "suspect" to be who it was so that came as a shock to me. I was a bit "underwhelmed" with the ending. I feel like there was a lot of build up for the ending to feel a bit rushed to me. Overall, this book kept me intrigued and wanting to know what was happening and how it would end.

Alice is a popular journalist for a local paper but then suddenly she’s being threatened. Why her? Alice was an annoying creature, it has to be said! Also irritating was the character Alex - none of his ends were tied up. Matt’s private life wasn’t that interesting and could easily have been left out without any loss to the story. I loved idea of this but wish it had been more menacing as the villain was nowhere near nasty enough. It was intriguing, with some twists and turns and would make a decent holiday read.

I Will Make You Pay by Teresa Driscoll is an immensely enjoyable thriller. The characters are well drawn and utterly believable; the plot is complex, with twists and turns galore, keeping the reader guessing throughout. I wholeheartedly recommend it.

I will make you pay is a tense thriller that will keep you hooked until the very end. Alice is being tormented and threatened, but only on a Wednesday. It starts with threatening phone calls to her workplace but soon escalates until the people around her also in danger. Throughout the book we also step back in time to hear harrowing events unfold for a little boy who’s primary carer is his grandmother. But how does this link to Alice now?
I throughly enjoyed this book and would definitely read more novels by Teresa Driscoll. I did feel however that some of the red herrings were a little out of place and some loose ends were left untied.

I liked this one, i guessed the twists but not until the end. Definitely recommend for people looking to get into thrillers

A psychological thriller about a journalist threatened by a stalker. Too slow in its build up to the denouement and not to my taste. Thank you netgalley and the publisher for the arc.
