That Forever Girl is the second book in the Getting Lucky Series and it follows the story of Rogan and Harper. Once upon a time, Rogan and Harper had that once in a lifetime, life altering love. They had their who lives ahead of them and nothing could tear these two lovebirds apart. That is until tragedy strikes. All it takes is one moment. One painful moment for everything Harper and Rogan wanted to be ripped apart and turned upside down. It will be years before Harper returns to Port Snow and when she does, her return awakens something buried deep within Rogan. Try as he might, he can't stop thinking of Harper. He's not the same man that Harper once knew. Despite their painful past, a love like theirs refuses to be extinguished. Will Harper and Rogan grab on to the second chance life has presented them?? There's only one way to find out....
That Forever Girl is the kind of story that just grabs you from the very first page. It's got all of my favorite troupes mixed into one heartbreaking story. We've got high school sweethearts whose future was ripped out from beneath them. Who are now shells of whom they once were. They take enemies to lovers to the next level. And when you add in the perfect small town, you've got a second chance romance that is guaranteed to put your heart through the paces. Yes, That Forever Girl has it all. It's got drama and angst. There's heartache and romance. There are extremely frustrating characters. That's right, Rogan, I'm talking about you!!! In all seriousness, Rogan drove me completely and totally batty. He claimed to still be madly in love with Harper, yet he couldn't stop being a jerk to her. And I mean, he was a total jerk. Never have I ever wanted to reach inside my kindle and slap a fictional character the way that I wanted to with Rogan. No matter how hard he tried, he just couldn't stop messing up. It was like the second he opened his mouth, he stuck his foot in it. I honestly never thought he was going to be able to redeem himself. But, I am happy to report that Rogan totally does. When you get to the heart of his story, you can better understand his actions. I didn't agree with his actions, but I understood them.
One of things I really enjoyed about this story was the pull between Rogan and Harper. No matter how much Rogan messed up, that pull was still there. It was tangible and undeniable. I loved the banter between Rogan and Harper and really enjoyed their interactions. I loved that Harper made Rogan sweat it a bit. She didn't just give in and forgive him. She made him work for his second chance and it was a totally satisfying thing to experience.
Overall, I thought this book was a terrific read. I loved getting lost in the characters and their story. And I think it was a perfect addition to the Getting Lucky Series.

I enjoyed this story and hearing more about the characters from the first book as well. I think the slow burn was appropriate given how much history these characters had, but I wonder if having the book in chronological order might have been easier to follow instead of bouncing around time periods.
