A very fun and entertaining read from these two authors. Lots of laughs, some great drama, romance and a very good story kept me interested from start to finish. I do confess that the fact that the heroine kept putting herself in danger got to be pretty exasperating to me, but still, she was a good character. Nicely done!

I received this from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. This is book 3 in the Titans and Tartans series. I have to say I really enjoyed this story a great deal. In this one we have Ronan that is being forced to marry in order to keep his family business and Imogen is being forced to marry in order to keep her charity. This story was fun and enjoyable. It was a great way to end the series.

What A Scot Wants is an enjoyable Highlander romance with a fun conceit - an engagement of convenience that both parties are determined to make the other call off. The first half of the book is great fun, with both hero and heroine trying more and more outrageous ways to embarrass the other and make them cry off the marriage, and when they eventually realise they do in fact like each other, then it becomes a more straightforward romance, with the usual hidden secrets and misinterpreted emotions to keep them apart - a lot of fun.

Content warning: previous sexual assault of heroine, including drugging, discussed, but not graphically.

SPOILER: I dislike this kind of plot where the heroine has sworn off men after being raped, because it is rarely discussed sensitively; the resolution here is that (extra spoiler warning) she learns she was not raped after all, which is a particular bugbear of mine. Why put the emotional work into watching her recover to learn that actually no one needed to worry because she was still "pure"? It smacks of devaluing women who have had that experience, that they wouldn't be worthy to be the heroine. It's a shame because otherwise this was a really good read.

The competition is on when two people are forced into a betrothal they cannot get out of without great cost. Ronan is a duke and laird of Maclaren. His father’s will forces his hand into marriage to Imogen who only wants to be single and use her inheritance to fund her charity that helps women.

Their antics to thwart the other are hilarious at first and the story has a fun flirty feel to it. Then, the story moves to London and the tone of the story changes. Imogen’s past catches up to her and her fear makes her decide to change course. The story has a more somber tone and this part of the story seemed to drag a little.

Overall, I enjoyed this romance and I love a good Scottish hero and Ronan fit the bill.

An arranged marriage between two people that have never had any plan to get married in the first place, what could possibly go wrong? This book was a ride and had such a slow build, and I loved every second of it. The chemistry between Ronan and Imogen from their first interaction is almost palpable and it just continues to grow. Their stubbornness and plans for each other often had me laughing audibly.

I would l recommend this book to anyone that love a stubborn leading lady and a strong alpha male.

What A Scot Wants is book 3 in A Tartans & Titans Novel series by Amalie Howard and Angie Morgan. I have to say, I am in awe of this story. I started it and couldn’t put it down. I realize that it is in a series, but it truly can be read as a stand alone. I haven’t read any of the other books, but I am definitely planning to go back and read the others. There is so much to say about this story. I found myself laughing out loud in the beginning and then biting my nails in the end. It has humor, romance, danger and steamy scenes. “The soft velvet of her lips reached into him, silencing his brain and stilling time. Imogen’s mouth parted on a delayed gasp of surprise, and the world went tumbling forward again. Ronan froze, aware and yet utterly paralyzed. He hadn’t meant to kiss her...but her scent had filled his nostrils, and the heat of her body had risen with her temper, and that lush, caustic mouth of hers had taunted him to indecency.”
I truly feel that I have discovered a treasure in Howard and Morgan’s writing. I can’t wait to read more.

Highlander Ronan Maclaren must marry, but he’s in no particular hurry. He’s perfectly happy as the laird of his clan, running the Maclaren Whisky Distillery, and besides, he just hasn’t found the right woman. Lady Imogen Kinley has cleverly avoided wedlock for years. Men, she has learned from painful experience, are not to be trusted. Determined to remain independent, she takes an indecent amount of pleasure in making herself as unattractive to potential suitors as possible. When desperate measures are taken by their parents and a betrothal contract is signed, it’s loathing at first sight. They each vow to make the other cry off—by any means necessary. But what starts out as a battle of wits...quickly dissolves into a battle of wills.
This was a pretty good book from an author that is new to me. I liked both characters and the overall plot. I look forward to reading more from this author.

Pride taken a bit too far!🤔

I could not get my mind around this couple's constant pranks and machinations to avoid a marriage, even after they realized their attraction to their intended. I also felt the story, including the happy epilogue, was too long. I love a good Scottish romance with a strong, kilted hero and this one has passion and steam with some good supporting characters and some knuckle-biting action. There were even some humorous interludes as the hero and heroine tried to one-up each other in the courtship stakes. I just found the main premise unconvincing.

Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for providing a complimentary advance copy of the book; this is my voluntary and honest review.

I’m a sucker for a good highland romance. I love a grumpy Scottish Laird who is not here for romance because he was cuckolded in the past. Enter Ronan Maclaren, Duke of Dunnrannoch. He’s 37 and perfectly happy running his distillery without having to futz around with a woman. He knows he’s supposed to marry because his title but he’s not worried about it.
Imogen has avoided marriage since she found out terrible things about her first love and was then tricked and assaulted.
When they find themselves betrothed, neither is happy.
There was great banter and attempts on both sides to get the other to cry off.
It was my first book by this author and I will be reading more.

Wow this book was just so good and so easy to get lost in. I thoroughly enjoyed myself and I just didn't want it to end. I just couldn't get enough of these wonderful characters and I just loved getting to see their journey. I will most definitely be reading more stories from this wonderful author.

I enjoyed the play between the leads. The only thing I found annoying was the drawn out storyline. There were parts that needed detail that didn’t have it. And other parts that didn’t need the extra but was drawn out to the point of being a boring read. I struggled with this book. I had to keep pushing my self to get it done.

Why am I just finding out about this series now? 😉

What a Scot Wants has a solid start–the machinations that Imogen and Ronan (mostly Imogen, but Ronan held his own here too) to try to get the other one to break their arranged engagement first were laugh out loud funny. Once the gig was up, their relationship issues morphed into misunderstandings caused by a lack of communication–here they actually made sense with their specific situations, though, which was refreshing. (Even though it was frustrating at times, at least it worked with their characters and backstory.) Add in some drama with exes and actual danger–not to mention sizzling chemistry and an awakening romance–and you’re left with one heck of a story here.

What a Scot Wants worked just fine as a standalone–though now I’m really curious to see what happened in the first and second book!–and since Ronan still has many siblings, I’ll be adding this series to my “watch for future installments” list.

Rating: 4 stars / B+

I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

When Ronan MacLaren is told he has to marry Lady Imogen or he will loose the clans distillery he begins his plan on getting her to break the contract. She on the other hand had no intention to marry him either. So now the story takes off as a funny, entertaining game to see who will back out first. There is one hitch though, they are attracted to each other!Well written from start to finish and very enjoyable read.

Highlander Ronan Maclaren Duke of Dunrannoch must marry, but he’s in no particular hurry. He’s perfectly happy as the laird of his clan, running the Maclaren Whisky Distillery, but the old duke's will has puts forth an ultimatum. Lady Imogen Kinley simply doesn’t trust men, she’s had a bad experience and has been able to avoid wedlock for a few years. She’s to remain independent and unattractive to potential suiters. When their parents sign a betrothal contract it seems desperate measures are needed. They find themselves engaged to someone they’ve never even met. The game is one to break the contract it’s loathing at first site as these two vowed to make the other cry off. A great story of two people instantly attracted to each other, but neither wants to wed in this match between wills, witty banter and mutual attraction. An excellent romance story with a few twists and turns and one I voluntarily read and reviewed.

I received a complimentary copy of this book from Entangled Publishing via NetGalley and I am voluntarily reviewing it.

This book was a wonderful story and I wished that I could give it more stars than 5. It reminds me of why I LOVE historical romance. I took my time reading this as I was savoring it. These two characters were a joy to read. What they were going to do next kept me glued to my e-reader. Both Highlander Ronan Maclaren and Lady Imogen Kinley are being forced to marry. Neither of them have married due to incidents in each of their past. Neither can they forfeit for it they do, each will lose something valuable to them. They have to get the other to cry off. They were hilarious in their early attempts. I could really picture the scenes as the writers really did great job in giving just enough description and left the rest for me to fill in.

The journey to a HEA was filled with laughs, intrigue, mystery and prior love interests on each side. I adored the dual POV format that the story is written in. Getting that glimpse into the thoughts behind the characters' actions really helped me to connect with them. It also allowed me to see the chemistry between them.

I have not read any of the prior books in this series or the books in the other series that dealt with Ronan's family. That didn't impede me from enjoying this story.

There was one scene that could make offend some. It was of a sexual scene that was written in a manner that really should not offend as it left much more to the reader's imagination. If you love historical romance, then this is one for you. I highly recommend it!!!

What a Scot Wants
Tartans & Titans book 3
by Amalie Howard and Angie Morgan

What a sensational read! These ladies have such a talent their writing just grabs you and keeps you entertained till you’ve read the last page. I really didn’t want to see the end to this story it was that good!

I adored Imogene and Ronan, they both were so similar in character, and competitive in every way, even before they had laid eyes on each other! On their very first meeting .....their betrothal ball, they set the bar with the way things were to be played out. Oh my the hilarity of it just cracked me up! The rules were that whoever forfeits loses their inheritance to the other. What will it take for one of them to break the contract!!!
The more they spend time with each other their feelings started to change and each wondered what if they just went ahead and married? But things couldn’t fall together so easily as both had secrets from their past come into their lives to create trouble. Ronan put to rest the hurt and betrayal he experienced at a young age with the true love he felt for Imogen. Imogen’s past was a danger to her than she expected.
Amazing read I truly, truly recommend this to everyone who loves a sensual story full of passion humor and witty banter with just the right amount of intrigue and villains.

I highly recommend this book!! I received an ARC of this book via NetGalley and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.

Enjoyable historical romance read. I enjoyed Imogen and Ronan's witty exchanges. This was def a hate to love romance story but with plenty of pranks and fun times between the main characters. I didn't read the 1st book in this series so this book can be read as a stand alone.

Imogen is determined never to marry. She's never met a man that should would trust enough to surrender to. When she learns that her parents have betrothed her to Ronan, she is determined to do everything in her power to get him to call it off. Because if she calls off the wedding, she won't get the money needed to help run her woman's shelter.

Ronan learns that his father has betrothed him to Imogen. After getting his heart broken at a young age, Ronan is determined to never marry. But if he calls off the wedding, he will lose the family distillery, which he isn't about to do.

Both Ronan and Imogen change their personalities to those that they think will make the other renege on the betrothal. But both are too stubborn to give in. What will happen when they both realize that they actually like the other. Will their decision to never marry come back to haunt them?

I really loved Ronan and Imogen's story! They way they acted toward one another when they were trying to get the other to cry off, had me laughing out loud. The banter between the two was also hilarious!! I believe this is the last book in the series and I'm sad to say goodbye to the Maclaren crew, but I know whatever Howard and Morgan come up with next will be just as good!!
