Whilst there was some good advice in this book I didn’t feel like as someone with coeliac disease that I could use it on a day to day basis.
Due to a sudden, unexpected passing in the family a few years ago and another more recently and my subsequent (mental) health issues stemming from that, I was unable to download this book in time to review it before it was archived as I did not visit this site for several years after the bereavements. This meant I didn't read or venture onto netgalley for years as not only did it remind me of that person as they shared my passion for reading, but I also struggled to maintain interest in anything due to overwhelming depression. I was therefore unable to download this title in time and so I couldn't give a review as it wasn't successfully acquired before it was archived. The second issue that has happened with some of my other books is that I had them downloaded to one particular device and said device is now defunct, so I have no access to those books anymore, sadly.
This means I can't leave an accurate reflection of my feelings towards the book as I am unable to read it now and so I am leaving a message of explanation instead. I am now back to reading and reviewing full time as once considerable time had passed I have found that books have been helping me significantly in terms of my mindset and mental health - this was after having no interest in anything for quite a number of years after the passings. Anything requested and approved will be read and a review written and posted to Amazon (where I am a Hall of Famer & Top Reviewer), Goodreads (where I have several thousand friends and the same amount who follow my reviews) and Waterstones (or Barnes & Noble if the publisher is American based). Thank you for the opportunity and apologies for the inconvenience.
A difficult book to review on kindle as I think the pictures inward back make the book. Interesting info relating to the gut being the source of I'll heath therefore looking after your gut health is so important.
I enjoyed this. Some really interesting facts about gut health and good recipes. Written with good humour
I really enjoyed this book because of the humour and the recipes. I'm always looking for healthy and tasty recipes to include in my repertoire. I'm grateful that the information is up to date, and is in line with international nutrition guidelines. Thank you for approving this title for me and thank you for publishing someone with credentials.
I needed this book - it helped me place my eating habits in the right light. Gut health is so important and unfortunately, frequently overlooked. That being said, because of the content (tips and worksheets), it is best read with a hard copy, instead of electronically.
The kindle version felt a little sparse but I liked the encouraging tone and the idea of achieving benefits throughout the mind and body by developing better gut balance.
Love this book. Full of fantastic tips on healthy eating. Made me realise where I have been going wrong all of these years. There is no strict plan to follow just lots of good ideas and tips on how to eat healthy everyday. Every household should have this book,
The book is interesting in relation to learning about gut health. The recipes weren't something that I would eat, however I am very fussy.
This is not a particularly accessible book on Kindle because of it’s more of a reference work. I found it a bit worthy and the recipes are certainly not that seasonal and use ingredients you might find in London but certainly not in rural East Anglia.
With all the evidence that the health of our gut impacts on our overall health, this book has some useful, tasty recipes which are healthy and easy to prepare.
Loved the recipes in this and found the gut health section informative, however it is information that I could find online, a little disappointed really as I had missed the deadline on here so purchased it as it looked interesting.
Very informative and insightful. Easy to read and understand.
Also includes some great recipes.
4 stars from me!
I choose to read this book because I am interested in health and nutrition. I unfortunately found this book hard to read on a kindle however the parts I did read were informative and interesting. I will never think about gut health in the same way again. Megan Rossi knows her stuff and relays that information in a straight forward and understandable way. The recipes also all sounded delicious.
A fascinating and practical guide to gut-health. I loved how the book explains complex biology in a simple way and offers plenty of healthy recipes that would be easy to adopt.
I first 'discovered' Megan whilst listening to a podcast and was immediately interested in what she had to say. I was so glad that her book delivered really useful information.
What a great cookbook! The material is well written and presented in an easy to follow manner. I look forward to trying out several of these recipes.
It was a okay read some helpful information . But found a bit boring . So I would not recommend to friends .
I am really interested in gut health due to having IBS and DD. I have read other books which I have found really helpful so I was interested in reading this and looking at the recipes also.
I was somewhat disappointed as it seems to be a vehicle for Dr Rossi to have lots of glamour shots of herself throughout the book! There were a lot written but little said.
The facts about Yoga for IBS were odd and there was no looking at alternative for people with disabilities or if you have allergies to certain foods etc
There were repeated pages, which just seemed to help ‘fill out’ the book as did the ‘all about me’ at the beginning. Because the author is Australian some of the ingredients wouldn’t be readily available in Britain.
There was also a lot of "do this survey on this website" which I didn't like. I went on the website to do the assessment but was unable to put in the page number stated to get a password as with a Kindle it will be different than a paperback book. I gave up. It seemed a lot of work and it would just be giving her ‘hits’ on her website.
I have read far better books on this subject. Didn’t deliver for me but if you’ve not read any other books on the subject and want a short book it will do.
As others have said the formatting of the book in kindle is not particularly great. It's much shorter than I expected and you can't really dip in and out of it.
Edit: After my review the publisher got in touch and sent me a free copy of the paperback book!
There's a lot of information regarding gut health, but nothing I haven't already read on the Internet or found for myself previously. There's a whole section on yoga but personally I don't ike yoga so not helpful for me. I expected more recipes but there are only a few and they are not things I would d cook or eat so unfortunately this book was not for me.
A great introduction to gut health and how you can start to heal your gut. It's well explained, in an easy to digest writing style. Loved the recipes section too.
