I haven’t read a book by Miranda Rijks before, but I can certainly say I was impressed. This book was a rollercoaster of emotions, I’m pretty sure I was sweating and holding my breath by the end. Parts of this book were genuinely terrifying. I don’t want to say too much as I don’t want to risk spoiling the plot. I can’t recommend this book enough and can’t wait to read her others.

Each chapter goes between Stacey and Tamara, you get both sides of the story throughout this book. Tamara is out for revenge on poor, unsuspecting Stacey. Her revenge plot is terrifying and very clever. There are more twists then a rollercoaster, I felt emotionally invested in this book.

I chose this book unsure as to whether I would enjoy a psychological thriller as I can find them annoying however this one is captivating with a strong story line which has been written very well. A real page Turner I will be looking out for this author in future

I have read Miranda Rijks several times and am never disappointed! I love her books!

"Deserve to die" grabbed my attention from the start. Evil Tamara commits a murder. Who is she, who is he, why? So many questions. I loved the descriptions and details of what she was doing.

Stacey and Dom have a good happy life... until they meet Tamara... A woman who wants to destroy, make you suffer...
Their life will never be the same again...

The devil has a name : Tamara.

A really good dark psychological thriller that keeps you interested until the end!

Thank you to NetGalley and Inkubator Books for the ARC of this book. This is my honest review. All opinions are my own.

Dominick and Stacey seem to have it all .... they love each other, they have 2 great kids, Dom's business is going great, and Stacey is a work at home mom, writing and illustrating children's books.

And then things start to happen. An associate in Dom's business has committed suicide ... an overdose followed by cutting his wrists. They found him in his bathtub.

Tamara is hired to replace him at Dom's business. She's got a ton of referrals, she's bright, methodical, and she's beautiful. She's also hiding a deep, dark secret.

She has a plan ... a plan to turn their lives upside down. She doesn't want the family to die ... she wants them to suffer.

This is a well-written psychological thriller. The reader knows the WHO from the beginning. It's the WHY that will keep you guessing from start to finish. Tamara is a character you will love to hate. She's vicious, cunning, manipulative, and just plain evil.

Many thanks to the author / Inkubator Books / Netgalley for the digital copy of this psychological thriller. Read and reviewed voluntarily, opinions expressed here are unbiased and entirely my own.

I was so excited to see a new book by Miranda Rijks, and like all of her others, it did not disappoint! Told in alternating viewpoints between Stacey, a loving mother and wife of Dom, and Tamara, a woman who quickly infiltrates their business and their personal life. We find out right from the start that Tamara kills a young man just to take his job in Dom's company! Why is Tamara on a mission to destroy? And are Stacey and Dom able to keep her away? Do they even want to?

The book did remind me of Rijk's other story "I Want You Gone" as that similarly involved a nefarious person harassing an innocent and clueless victim. And of course everyone loves Tamara and no one understands why Stacey grows more and more wary of her. Dom is a typical man blinded not only by her business sense but of course her beauty. He could have been less of a weak male character - not all men are like that! Stacey as well, as it takes her a bit too long to realize that Tamara has ill intents. I kept wanting her to toughen up and set her man straight, but things go in a much darker direction.

I'd recommend this book to anyone looking for a suspenseful read, where you know what is coming but the mystery is all about why...

Really enjoyed this novel. The writing flowed and the characters were depicted very well. Couldn't wait to find out what happens next.

We begin with a murder - a well planned one, at that. Tamara has a plan. She crosses off #1. Next, she app;ies for take the job that the dearly departed had for 8 years. Of course, she gets the job. If that isn't enough, isn't her next plan to take over Dom, her boss? However, Dom and Stacey are happily married with two children. Stacey writes and illustrates children's books. 15 years ago, Stacey had a breakdown - before she met Dom. As it looks right now, she is headed for another one.

What is Tamara after? Is it just to have Dom? Or does she want more?

An extremely fast-paced read with amazing characters - of course, the author is well known for her great books!

I really enjoyed this story!

Many Thanks to Inkubator Books and NetGalley for a truly great read!

I received an advanced reader’s copy in exchange for an honest review

This book really kicks off and you jump in loving the crazy evil bitch right away, but it tapers down a bit. We never fully get a sense of Tamara’s true motivation, and the wife seems a bit flat with too many over-familiar tropes. But the book was engaging and I enjoyed reading it quite a bit. Solid 3.5, rounded up

I haven't been so glued to a book in ages! This is a book that you won't be able to put down, so be careful when you pick it up. I postponed homework for an entire day until I finished it. Miranda Rijks does a fantastic job hooking the reader, and that's the best part of this book!

What's so fascinating is reading about Tamara's expertly-crafted plan. This woman is really smart and wily. I would definitely put her in Slytherin. Her plan is REALLY well concocted, and she knows exactly what she's doing. As a reader you can only watch in confusion and growing horror as you see her start to tear Stacey and Dom's life apart. But, yet, it's so intriguing that you kind of want her to keep going just to see what the next step of her master plan is...which is such a confusing feeling!

There are two narrators: Tamara and Stacey. I vastly preferred Tamara's chapters because they were much more interesting. What can I say, I like reading about her evil plan. Obviously she isn't the heroine; that's Stacey. But she does narrate half the book, so I couldn't help but empathize with her sometimes. It's like, you're rooting for her because she's narrating, but at the same time you're screaming "WAIT NO DON'T DO THAT" because you realize how evil it is... I think it was a very effective tool to have her narrate half of the book.

Dom is a silly little snowflake, but he does mean well. I wish he had been more supportive of Stacey for longer. After that many years of marriage and them having two kids together, you'd think his doubt wouldn't grow that quickly. But I guess Tamara is good at what she does.

My only complaint is that Stacey's chapters were kinda dull at the beginning, and the ending was way too abrupt. There's a sort of epilogue at the end that just cuts off what feels like mid-chapter. I would've appreciated maybe 5-10 more pages to wrap it up. Also, can I just say that the cover pretty much gives away the ending? I was waiting and waiting for the ocean to come up based on the cover image.

TW for graphic murder, infidelity, fear of the ocean, and lots and lots of manipulation courtesy of Tamara.

This was fabulous. I got completely hooked right from the beginning and almost finished this in one sitting. It was amazing. At the beginning of the book we meet Tamara, who is frighteningly evil and determined to seek revenge. Parts of this story were genuinely terrifying but it’s an incredible story. Who is Tamara seeking revenge on? And what for? It all becomes clear. Highly recommended. Five stars xxx

I couldn’t put this book down! I started it yesterday morning, and before I knew it, I’d read 25%. The rest of the day, I kept grabbing five minutes here there and everywhere to just devour a little bit more. I’m now exhausted having stayed up late to finish it when I knew I should put it down and finish it this morning, but I just needed to know!
It grips you right from the beginning where you are first meeting Tamara, and straight away, it is revealed that she is pure evil. The chapters alternate between Tamara and Stacey whose life is falling apart. She is on a very tight deadline, strange things are happening, and the world seems to be against her, even the one person she thought she could trust with her life, her husband!
The story unravels at a swift pace. The pieces of the jigsaw are drip-fed to the reader so that you are figuring it out along the way. To the outside world, Tamara seems like a normal and helpful woman, and I had to keep reminding myself of that first chapter, she is dangerous, and anything could happen.
Unfortunately, I did feel like the ending was a little bit of a letdown. It was hard to accept that Tamara had devised this entire elaborate scheme for the reason that was revealed. She killed and lied for this reason, and I just don’t think it was enough, I was expecting it to have been bigger. So it didn’t blow me away. Nothing is left unsaid, and you are given the entire story and a proper ending, but I just felt it lacked in innovativeness. It didn’t make me sorry for having devoured the book and being as invested in it as I was. It was still an excellent read I just wanted a little more from it.
I still came away from the book feeling exhilarated from the ride I had been on with the characters.

Deserve to Die is fantastic!

Tamara is the most evil character I’ve ever met in a book (yes she’s honestly worse than Dolores Umbridge!!), at points I had to put the story done since it’s so intense, dark and shocking.

Hav net read anything that scared me like this in a long time so it’s a strong five out five for Deserve to Die.

Deserve to Die by Miranda Rijks is a fast-paced, engrossing thriller that will have you on the edge of your seat. A tense, cleverly executed nail-biter, I tore through this one at warp speed.

Stacey and Dom are living an idyllic life with their two young children when their lives are suddenly upended by the arrival of the beautiful and mysterious Tamara. Tamara is a woman with a plan and is intent on destroying lives, yet her motives are unclear. We know only that a seemingly innocent family has been visited by evil, and will never again be the same.

Told in the alternating voices of Stacey and Tamara, this is a chilling and diabolical tale that you do not want to miss. I am thrilled to discover for the first time the exciting voice of Miranda Rijks, and will be adding all of her work to my 'tbr' list immediately.

Many thanks to NetGalley and Inkubator Press for the opportunity to read this wonderful ARC.
