This adorable book of crochet critters is the perfect summer crochet activity book. This book gives step by step instructions on how to make each critter. If you can make one you can make them all. They have very similar patterns with slight differences. I love all the pictures.
Amurigami can be intimidating to beginner or even intermediate crocheters. After reading the patterns and tips given in these patterns, I was able to complete several projects. The results look surprisingly like the pictures! Clear patterns with great pictures are the two best tools every crafter needs to succeed.
This is such a great book for beginners! The introduction to techniques with pictures was thorough while keeping everything simple and not overwhelming. An animal for each letter of the alphabet is adorable and the projects are super cute with great pictures of the finished projects. I’ve been crocheting for years with the majority of my work in amigurumi and found myself wishing I had had this book when I began as it is the best introductory book I’ve come across. I decided to try out the Whale that my son picked and he came out just as expected taking about 2 hours to complete. I loved the variety of techniques incorporated into the patterns you’re able to try, I did wish there were a few more pictures to detail a few of the techniques specific to some of the animals but overall this book is very well done and the book I’ll be recommending to those wanting to start crocheting amigurumi.
Adorable critters and great instructions. I am always hesitant when it comes to books like this, because I forget how to do some of the "stitches." This book provides great step-by-step at the beginning for how to create these critters.
What a cute book! I've wanted to try amigurumi patterns for some time, and this seemed like a good way to start. Them images and directions are clear, unlike some patterns I've found online in the past. They're done in a way, and with tools, that the average crocheter should be able to use and follow. There's a great selection of animals (one for each letter of the alphabet). I haven't made any of the items yet, but I'm looking forward to trying many of them. The author does a nice job of providing a basic introduction to amigurumi and the special way that the patterns are made (with increasing and decreasing stitches, switching off colors, etc).
(Note: This review is based on a general read-through of the book and directions, as well as the variety of the selections included.)
Crochet Cute Critters have many wonderful patterns to choose from. The images that were used to show the patterns and parts of the pattern step are great. I've seen where the patterns written out are a bit confusing and having the picture to visualize is important. Also the images are not tiny which I appreciate very much! They're not discombobulated like they are sometimes in ebook format. I liked that the patterns used a singular crochet hook size and yarn size. Making it a lot easier and more available to the average crocheter (hooker), or someone who already knows how to crochet but wants to learn a new skill and may not have the specific crochet hook or yarn on hand. The layout of ebook looks great and all the written instructions are easy to follow. I love the cute animal names, and I'm definitely going to make my namesake amigurumi Lily the Lamb :). I'm happy to see there are many different amigurumi animals to choose from.
This is a really cute, well-written collection of amigurumi patterns! I follow Sarah Zimmerman's blog, Repeat Crafter Me, so I instantly requested her book when I realized it was on NetGalley. I haven't made anything from the book, but I think I'll be making the whale at some point. So this review is just from reading through the patterns.
What's impressive is she came up with an animal for every letter of the alphabet! I think that could be advertised in the title or the cover, because it's a really cute idea.
This book has an excellent introduction to amigurumi, guides to the basic stitches as well as increasing, decreasing, and changing color, and helpful tips for the general construction and finishing process. Zimmerman would be a great candidate for writing a how to crochet book, just saying...
Great for anybody with kids in their life, or anyone who wants to make squishy and cute animals!
Thank you to NetGalley for providing me with an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.
