An incredible book! I couldn't stop reading as Emilia totally sucked me in with her story. I was rooting for her, hoping she could fight against the seemingly inevitable downward spiral. When the twist came, I was completely blindsided. So clever! I'm not sure I've ever read a book with that premise and it was very well done. Can't wait for more from the author!

Unfortunately, I have not been able to read and review this book.

After losing and replacing my broken Kindle and getting a new phone I was unable to download the title again for review as it was no longer available on Netgalley.

I’m really sorry about this and hope that it won’t affect you allowing me to read and review your titles in the future.

Thank you so much for giving me this opportunity.
Natalie.

This is one of those books where you just keep on reading to see where it takes you, even though, I was a bit confused most of the time. Entertaining and thrilling until the end.

The truth by Naomie Joy
I rate this book 4.5 stars.
Perfect wife. Perfect life. Perfect crime. A domestic abuse story about a evil husband and his wife who through fear tells her story through an online blog.
An absolutely brilliant domestic thriller that had me from the first chapter. You get about halfway through and suddenly boom everything you thought you knew about this story is turned completely upside down, and literally leaves you realling in shock!
The truth is definitely not what it seems, cleverly written about something l had little knowledge about.
If your looking for something a bit different....look no further!
Thanks to Netgalley for the chance to read this.

The Truth is a wickedly clever psychological suspense novel, written mostly as a series of blog posts, about a woman who believes that she is being slowly poisoned by her husband. I strongly recommend avoiding any reviews that might spoil this and just diving in - yes it is confusing but it’s what makes the reveal all the more shocking. I’ve been avoiding plot lines about abusive husbands this year as they have rather taken over the genre, but this had consistently good reviews so I couldn’t resist when it appeared on NetGalley.
Unfortunately it’s taken me quite a while to get around to reading it, but I’m glad I did, as the story really isn’t what it appears.

Emelia is a 35 year old historical journalist who has battled ill-health since her teens, and more recently since marrying Anthony, a glamorous and wealthy archeologist, a year earlier. The sicker she gets, the happier he seems to be, and Emelia begins to suspect that he is inducing her illness with poison, to keep her under his control, so she begins a secret blog to share her desperate attempts to save herself before he ends up killing her, as he appears to have done with previous girlfriends.

This is brilliantly written, and while I initially couldn’t believe that Emelia wouldn’t just run away and get proof of what was happening to her, the way the author describes her confusion, paranoia and physical frailty persuaded me. I then thought I’d worked out what was going on, only to find myself completely wrong-footed by the twist. Anthony is truly dreadful and once again, it’s hard to believe she fell for him (and his moustache!) but her accounts of previous romances dissolving as soon as her illness is mentioned showed how vulnerable she was to the dubious charms of a man who seems attracted to her because of her condition.

I did find the plot slowed down in the middle as Emelia begins to plot her revenge, but is undermined by her dreadful parents and shallow best friend.
I can’t say much more without spoiling this so will just recommend you ignore the complete absence of any likeable characters here, savour the writing, and enjoy being taken for a ride. My thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the arc which allowed me to give an honest review, and apologies to the author for how late this review is.

Thank you Netgalley for the opportunity to preview The Truth by Naoimi Joy. This novel takes the reader into the marriage from hell - I didn't like the characters in this book, and I feel ask if this plot has been done before.
It is a quick read but been there and done that.
2.5 stars.

A different kind of thriller. Naomi Joy tells a fascinating story, limiting the characters and their stories to blog entries and supporting police reports. As the story unwinds, we learn this couple's history, from a whirlwind romance and marriage to the typical "repent in leisure" relationship. BUT...everything is not always as it seems. A really great story that will surprise you at every turn. I'm looking forward to seeing what Naomi Joy does next.

If your favoured reading material is a novel with a good sprinkling of domestic noir, emotional abuse, evil, marriage toxicity, suspense, secrets, drama, and lies then feel at liberty to read Naomi Joy's latest offering - The Truth.

Psychological crime thrillers do not come any more terrifying than The Truth which was an intense and nerve-twisting exploration of a toxic marriage. It shocked, scared and beguiled me as nothing was quite what it seemed.

The entire story was told to as a series of blog posts and each word was convincing, conveying the right emotions. Although initially I was not on board with this style of writing, I soon became used to it and it worked excellently in retaining my interest in the story. I was never bored but instead, was lured ever deeper into this compelling tale. Random autopsy reports were presented intermittently between the opening chapters, helping to set the stage for a first-rate, compelling mystery.

Although this was not a story full of characters - there’s Emelia and Anthony with their repellent love story - the character development and the dynamics between the couple were authentic and believable. Nothing was what it seemed, and the writing really flowed in this wonderfully crafted, chilling tale. Most of the characters were extremely unpersonable, but this only added more dimension to the story.

Original, complex and packed full of twists, the ending was astonishing and surprising, leaving me with more questions. Based on a collection of real events, The Truth was claustrophobic and clever and something a little different.

Overall, I'd say that this novel is a little gem and a book that I'm so pleased to have read. Naomi Joy may well become one of my favourite authors in this genre.

I received a complimentary digital copy of this novel, at my own request, from Aria via NetGalley. This review is my own unbiased opinion. Thank you also to Pigeonhole and Naomi Joy for giving me the opportunity to read this book!

This was such a fun and twisty read! I thought I had this one figured out and that it was going to be similar to other thrillers I have read but I was absolutely wrong. I loved the twists, characters, and just overall feel of this book! I look forward to reading more from this author.

I have given The Truth 3.5 stars.

The Truth by Naomi Joy has an interesting, unique premise and when I read the blurb I knew I just had to read it, especially as I had read and enjoyed her previous book "The Liars". With that in mind, I had a feel of what to expect from this author and thought great things would follow.
However, I was unimpressed to begin with as it started off kind of slow and I simply could not to get on board with the sickly narrator and her seemingly, overbearing husband BUT once I started to realize that things were not as they seem, the story just went from strength to strength.

There was so much going on this book and the shocks just kept coming. In the end I really enjoyed it!

This is a story about a new phenomenon, Munchausen by Internet.
The first reports occurred in the 1990's.
In the year 2000 the term Munchausen by Internet was created by Marc Feldman.
Munchausen by Internet is when a person goes online telling their story about a debilitating illness. They do this to garner attention, sympathy and money. It is a psychiatric disorder.
There have been cases where a forty year old housewife presents to be nineteen and battling leukaemia. Two years later the girl dies of an aneurysm. This shocks her readers that had been following her blog. It was later discovered the the young women was alive and well. Her name had been stolen.
This is a brilliant book. I strongly recommend it!

An unsettling and fiendishly clever domestic noir title fans of B A Paris are going to lap up, Naomi Joy’s The Truth is a shocking and sinister thriller that will keep you up till dawn.

When Emelia had first met Anthony, she had thought that she had met her Prince Charming. Anthony was handsome, charismatic and successful and had swept her off her feet. Their whirlwind romance had been the stuff of fairy stories and romantic novels, however, Emelia had soon realized that the man of her dreams would soon turn into the monster of her worst nightmares trapping her in a sadistic marriage underpinned by dark secrets, desperate obsession and heart-stopping danger. Whilst everyone believes that theirs is an ideal marriage, Emelia knows that her husband is an evil and vicious man who is keeping her locked in a gilded cage from which there is no escape. Emelia is not a wife to Anthony, but a project which he is desperate to fix, fashion and mould to his liking. Emelia has nobody to turn to or confide in – save for a blog through which she anonymously reveals and exposes the shocking secrets of her marriage to Anthony.

Emelia knows that she will never be able to leave Anthony. The only way she will ever be unshackled from his malevolent hold over her is if one of them dies and with Anthony plotting and scheming to kill her, Emelia is desperate for somebody to hear her and for her husband to get what is coming to him.

Will justice be served? Will Anthony pay for his shocking treatment of Emelia? Or will she end up paying a higher price than she ever imagined for marrying a monster?

Psychological crime thrillers do not come any more terrifying than Naomi Joy’s The Truth. A terrifying, intense and nerve-twisting exploration of a toxic marriage, The Truth shocks, scares and beguiles readers as nothing is quite what it seems and indeed the truth is far scarier than what anyone else might imagine.

A top-notch nail-biting thriller in the best-selling tradition of Behind Closed Doors and Gone Girl, The Truth is an outstanding chiller that should not be missed.

What a twisted story! Original, complex and with an astonishing ending that will surprise every reader!
This is not a story full of characters; there’s Emelia and Anthony with their not so beautiful love story. Because since the beginning you know that there’s something wrong with them. Emelia writes a blog post with all her thoughts and fears about her life, she has a problem with her heart, yes, but she feels trapped in her own home too!
This is one of those books in which talking just a little too much would mean spoiling all the story for any reader. There are so many surprises during the story and twists that I would recommend you to read it and enjoy this psychological thriller.
There are so many details and curiosities about history and archeological sites that filled the science lover inside of me! There are not many mysteries with a science background and is always appreciated to discover new things.
I was surprised with the background of the story and all the detail the author, Naomi Joy, has done. Some interesting facts that made the story more real and possibly more scary, this could be happening in reality, not only a book, this has happened to someone!
This had been a quick read, I’ve read it in one sit, the flight was delayed so this book made the waiting less boring and more exciting.
If you want to know The Truth, now it’s time!

Oh. My. God. What have I just read?!?!? And the fact that this is based loosely on true stories is even more terrifying!! THE TRUTH by Naomi Joy is a twisted and dark tale that will take everything you know and flip it onto its head and is sure to keep you thinking long after you finish the last page.

Emelia was swept along in a whirlwind romance with Anthony and has a relationship that she never thought was possible with all of her health issues. But she feels strong and positive. Until she starts to feel ill again and begins to worry that Anthony may be keeping her that way. Her only escapism from her home is her blog where she writes about what is happening to her, her suspicions and fears, hoping that it will reach someone and make them understand her. Because she believes Anthony, her loving husband, will do anything to keep her silent and reliant on him forever ...

This is one of those annoying reviews where I cannot give away too much detail or it would completely ruin the plot but believe me there will be moments when your jaw drops and you cannot believe what is happening. The characters, while never really likeable, are interesting and held my attention throughout and by the end I was simply speechless.

Fresh, compelling, and completely surprising, THE TRUTH by Naomi Joy is an exceptional psychological thriller and I cannot wait for more from someone who is fast becoming one of my favourite authors in this genre.

Brilliant story, this keeps you gripped and you think you know how it's all going to end but hey, nothing is at it seems and this has many twists that will take you by surprise and keep you awake all night reading. I really loved this, such a brilliant piece of writing. It's going in my top five of the year.

A story of two halves as many psychological thrillers are.

The story begins with a blog post, Emelia has a life-limiting condition and wondered if she would have the chance of a normal marriage. Anthony was more than she thought possible until he wasn’t. Once married, things change and the doting man becomes increasingly controlling. Limiting her life, even more than her physical state does.

This is a domestic thriller, claustrophobic and dark, and you wonder if she has it in her to escape. Then there’s a twist that turns this into a noir psychological thriller, where you doubt what you read, and don’t know who to believe, and wonder if anything that came before is ‘The Truth’?

The ending has another twist and leaves ‘normal’ minds with more questions. Based on a collection of real events, this is chilling, claustrophobic and clever, something different.

I received a copy of this book from Aria via NetGalley in return for an honest review.

This is definitely a book of two halves, with both relating to the same story even though it doesn't feel like it at the time.

it's really hard to summarise the plot of this one; there are bits which still puzzle me after completing the novel. I don't think I've read any other novel which is as ambiguous as this one; there's a strong feeling that what I spent the day perusing was really all smoke and mirrors and I'm still left with the notion that I've missed something.

It is certainly a gripping read; it had me glued from the beginning, desperate to see where it was heading. I thought I knew where that was but then the second half of the story kicked in and I was totally and utterly confused. It's a very clever scenario - not what I expected, and I'm not entirely sure that the ending worked - for me, anyway. I have an aversion to books written under the fiction banner to bring awareness of an issue and I have a suspicion that this is one such novel, however loosely. I understand that I'm probably out of step with my opinions but hey, we can't all like the same things! For me, this is a three star read.

My thanks to publisher Aria for providing my copy via NetGalley, and to Vicky Joss for my spot on this Blog Tour.
