Princess Fuzzypants here: I keep liking each successive book in this series better than the last one. It’s got a great premise. Josie has sunk all her savings into the B & B she bought from her mother’s best friend. She has even taken out a substantial loan to bring the beautiful old building back to its former glory. She is somewhat challenged by her lack of culinary skill but with the help of the former owner and her mother, she is managing. It does not help that people keep dying at the guest house. This time it is a fake psychic, one of a group of psychics, who have come in search of the ghost of the original owner, whose hidden corpse was revealed behind a wall during renovations in the previous book.
Between a snoopy newspaper reporter and a hovering bank manager, Josie is struggling to keep things afloat and figure out the identity of the killer. It is a good thing she has two felines, Marlowe and Nero, who came with the guest house. These smart and sassy detectives have an awful time trying to get the humans to follow their clues. They even have a gang of local cats, including a Maine Coon, who help investigate the crimes.
Just to add a little more fun to the mixture, the ghost the psychics are seeking shows up to befriend Nero and Marlowe.. While he does try to be helpful, sometimes he creates more problems than he solves. But with Nero and Marlowe on the case, it will all work out in the end. It’s an enjoyable read and I do love the dialogue between the cats and their observations of the human world. Thank Bast Josie is finally twinging to what they are trying to tell her.
If you are looking for a fast fun read, this one is a good choice. Five purrs and two paws up.

My thanks to Bookouture for an eARC via NetGalley of Leighann Dobbs’ ‘A Purrfect Alibi’ in exchange for an honest review.

This is the third in her Oyster Cove Guesthouse series of cosy mysteries that feature feline investigators Marlow and Nero.

The story continues on from the previous one, ‘A Whisker in the Dark’, and the discovery of the skeleton of Jedediah Biddeford in a wall of the Oyster Cove Guesthouse. A number of psychics and mediums have booked into the guesthouse with the hope of contacting the spirit of Jedediah and discovering the whereabouts of his legendary buried treasure.

When one of the mediums is found dead with an ominous note nearby that points to Jedediah being the culprit, Josie is naturally fretting about her guesthouse getting a bad reputation (with good cause given this is the third murder). Together with her mother and their eccentric friend, Millie, they launch their own investigation.

Marlow and Nero are making their own contribution into the murder and unlike the humans they know the truth about ghosts and things that go bump in the night.

This was another delightful cosy mystery with its feline characters and in this outing a paranormal twist.

I often read quite dark and gritty crime fiction so a cosy mystery with colourful characters, plenty of suspects, and of course the cats made for a delightful change.

I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys cosy mysteries.

This is the 3rd book in the series but i can be read as a stand alone, as there's enough recap for the reader to catch up on previous events. This book has everything- sleuth cats, a 300 year old ghost and a murdered psychic. A fun fast paced read that sheds light on what happened to Jed 300 years ago, with the help with two very smart felines and Josie who is finally catching on.

"A Purrfect Alibi" the third installment in the "The Oyster Cove Guesthouse Mystery Series" by Leighann Dobbs and it is one of my favourite series!

Fortune tellers and mediums have descended on the Oyster Cove Guesthouse, determined to solve the mystery of local seafarer Jedediah Biddeford’s murder 300 years ago... especially if it leads them to the treasure he buried on the guesthouse grounds. New owner Josie Waters has suddenly got bigger problems than burning the breakfasts: she’s up to her elbows in tarot cards and tea leaves…

When one of the mediums is found dead with an ominous note nearby, everything points to Jedediah’s ghost being the culprit. Suddenly, Josie finds that the fate of her guesthouse depends on not one murder but two, and she’s not going to rely on a crystal ball for answers. Despite the fact that cookbooks and candlesticks keep mysteriously falling off tables, Josie is sure there’s no such thing as ghosts. But guesthouse cats Nero and Marlowe know better…

Aided by her mom and eccentric family friend Millie, Josie sets out to prove the identity of the killer without summoning any spirits. Luckily Nero and Marlowe know the truth about ghosts, ghouls and things that go bump in the night and they are on the case! Can they make Josie realize she is scratching up the wrong tree before the killer strikes again?

The protagonist Josie is a likable, fun main character, with quirky supporting characters her mother Rose, her BFF Millie (prior owner of guesthouse) the cats Nero and Marlowe. I enjoyed this installment the most I think as the ghost of Jed was introduced and several mysteries were tied up nicely. I was drawn in from the get go. I love the cats most of all and the ones that help solve the murder.

The mystery was well written with plenty of twists and turns and had a steady pace. I didn’t figure out whodunit until it was revealed at the end; although I did suspect them of being shady in a previous book.

I enjoyed this book and recommend to my friends and any fan of Leighann Dobbs.

I requested and received an advanced reader copy from Bookouture and Netgalley. All thoughts and opinions are my OWN.

Third in the series. A well written cozy with a paranormal twist.

I thought this was the best in the series to date. I like how we learn more about the central characters and learn enough about the peripheral characters to keep the story and series flowing. There were enough twists and turns to keep you guessing until the end. Two mysteries for the price of reading.

For a great cozy mystery with fun characters and a charming plot, you don’t have to look much further than this latest series from Leighann Dobbs. The third in her Oyster Cove Guesthouse series can be read as a standalone, but (as always) it’s a little more fun if you are familiar with the characters. This installment features a bunch of fortune-tellers and mediums (who may or may not be legit) converging to solve a 300-year-old mystery. It’s good fun with a few surprises along the way. If you are a fan of cozy mysteries, you will want to pick this one up. Thank you to NetGalley, Bookouture, and the author for a complimentary, pre-release, digital copy of this book.

I read the other novels in this series and I think this is the best one.
I liked the mix of paranormal and cozy mystery, the paranormal part is fun and the reaction of the human characters is exhilarating.
The mystery is well written, full of red herrings and twists, and it kept me guessing till the end.
I was happy to meet again the quirky cast of characters, my favorite are the cats. Ms Dobbs is great at writing cats, they're always realistic and at the same time you are ready to be involved in their antics.
It was an excellent reading experience, I look forward to reading the next instalment.
Highly recommended!
Many thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for this ARC, all opinions are mine.

A Purrfect Alibi by Leighann Dobbs is the third book in the Oyster Cove Guesthouse Mystery series. I have read all three books in this series and honestly, it just keeps getting better with each installment. Ms. Dobbs does create enough of a recap on a few main subjects so that readers that are new to this series could follow along without any difficulty.

This time Josie has to deal with a multitude of guests that are different “mediums”, all the while fending off local news reporters, and an overbearing Bank Owner Myron, who loaned money to Josie through a loan with his bank for improvements to her guesthouse. Of course, she would only have to also add a pesky murder to the list as well.

As always, Josie comes out on top with the help of her Mom, Millie, this time Mike, and her two awesome cats Nero and Marlowe.

I enjoyed the plot, the murder/mystery and was unsure of the culprit until the last two chapters. I have always enjoyed Josie and her entourage. I would like to see where her relationship with Mike could go. It is obvious both of them are interested. I think he would be good for her.

Great addition and I look forward to reading more.

5/5 stars

Thank you NetGalley and Bookouture for this ARC and in return I am submitting my unbiased and voluntary review and opinion.

This review is submitted to GR same day and will be added to B&N and Amazon upon release.

A Purrfect Alibi by Leighann Dobbs is the third in The Oyster Cove Guesthouse Book series. It can be read as a stand alone as Dobbs does a great job of getting you caught up.
The guesthouse is full of psychics, tarot card readers, tea leaves, and a crystal ball reader all hoping to make contact with the ghost of the original owner, Jedediah. When one of the guests turns up stabbed in the old cemetery, Josie is again determined to find the murderer. And again her cats, Nero and Marlowe along with the town cats , are steps ahead of her.
Dobbs gives you plenty of suspects, humor, a hint of romance, and a great group of characters.
This is an easy read cozy that has you guessing until the end.
I was given an ARC from NetGalley and the publisher for an honest review.

This is the 3rd in the fabulous "Oyster Cove Guesthouse" cozy mystery series.. The author is beloved by cozy fans as she writes great mysteries that feature cats . I highly recommend the first two in the series for your reading enjoyment. This book can be read as a stand alone but every reader will enjoy the first two in series in order to know the basis of the series and this the wonderful charcters, feline and human.

Thank you to the publisher and to Net Galley . My review opinion is my own.

In this next in series all our favorite charcters return when a group of mediums descend on Oyster Cove Guesthouse. They are researching a death that occurred there hundreds of years ago and trying to connect with the "ghost" and find the way to rumored treasure he left behind. They have a lot of competition between themselves.. When a murder occurs within the group Josie and her "feline" friends are on the case. I love how Nero and Marlowe ( the feline friends) have so much insight and assist Josie in her quest to solve the mystery. Soon they are finding clues abound for suspects and they are on the right track to solving this mysterious murder.

I loved this book. The writing is so well crafted with a fast pace to the pleasing conclusion. The sleuth is well drawn to keep the reader guessing. The charcters are all likable, feline and human. The author knows cats and she writes so perfectly of their traits . I look forward to the next in series by this favorite author and these smart cats.

Another Murder at the Guesthouse
This cozy mystery continues the story arc, the series is best read in order. The plot is great and so is its execution. There are plenty of suspects and weird happenings. I love the age of the mansion and all of the antiques. This is a fun series that I truly enjoy reading. I received this ARC book for free from Net Galley and this is my honest review.

This summer when I read A Whisker in the Dark I wasn't sure if I would continue with this series. Yet, when I saw book 3 A Purrfect Alibi available at Netgalley I decided I would give the series a second look. I'm glad I did.

In the latest book in Leighann Dobbs's Oyster Cove Guesthouse series, I felt the characters and the cats melded together much better. Perhaps it just took a few books for Dobbs to find her stride with this new series. But I found this one to be fun, even though I figured out the killer pretty quickly.

In the previous book, I didn't feel like I connected with the human characters. That wasn't the case in A Purrfect Alibi. There wasn't a lot of backstory rehashing so it may have been that the characters are more established so their natural personalities came through more authentically. Josie has caught on that the cats are trying to communicate with her so the cats weren't on their own as much.

While the guests are different, many of the town's people make an appearance. Ed is still working on the renovations, and Mike is finding all kinds of reasons to hang around the guesthouse. Millie and Josie's mom are front and center in wanting to solve the mystery. Myron, the banker who gave Josie a loan for renovations at the end of the last book, also is hanging around the guesthouse an awful lot.

Only a few weeks have passed since the last book and from the references in the previous book, book 1 took place just a few weeks before that. I don't know about you, but I would be a bit leery of staying at a place where a murder happens every few weeks. Especially since there is no indication that there are times when guests stay there when no murders happen.

It was pretty easy to figure out who the killer was in this book. But I only guessed at half the reasoning for the murder. Even so, the characters were so delightful that I didn't mind the easy solve.

My review will publish at Girl Who Reads on Wednesday, September 18 at 6:30 am ET - https://www.girl-who-reads.com/2019/09/a-purrfect-alibi-by-leighann-dobbs.html

Once again, the Oyster Cove Guesthouse is in the spotlight when one of the group of psychics currently staying at the guesthouse ends up murdered. Immediately owner Josie, her mother and Millie, plus of course feline sleuths Nero and Marlowe step up to investigate. Josie is worried about the negative impact on the guesthouse and Myron from the bank pulling her loan. So they’re desperate to find the killer before anyone else dies.

Was there a connection to the death of Jedediah Biddeford whose skeleton was found a few weeks previously? Was his ghost back to seek revenge? Was it someone searching for the elusive treasure that Jedediah was reputed to have in his possession?

A Purrfect Alibi is the 3rd in the Oyster Cove Guesthouse series by Leighann Dobbs and is another light and entertaining cosy mystery. My favourite characters are of course, Nero, Marlowe and the posse of cat detectives. Josie’s abilities in the kitchen are improving, while the guests are strange, intriguing and secretive. I’m quite looking forward to the next book in the series. Recommended.

With thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for my digital ARC to read in exchange for an honest review.

If you love cozy murder mysteries to solve and furry feline friends, then you are in for a double treat as both are in abundance in this story. I haven't read any of the other books in the series but thoroughly enjoyed this story.
I can't think of anything nicer than a quaint seaside guest house to relax in but when the whole place is taken over by mediums and fortune tellers to mark the 300-year-old anniversary of Jedediah Biddeford's murder, discover who killed him and solve where he buried his treasure, then it really becomes more of a preening feathers and popularity contest with them all. Each of them swearing they are the real thing but the others are fakes. It isn't long before one of the mediums is murdered, not something any of them saw coming I must add, and with a ghostly message from Jedediah himself warning them all off.
New owner Josie Waters, her mum and a family friend Millie decide to try and solve the mystery themselves, without the aid of their guests. If it isn't solved then the business will falter and the bank will call in the loan on the place. Waiting in the wings patiently are Nero and Marlowe, the resident cats who not only can see ghosts but are determined to solve the case too.
There are some really colourful characters in this story, bold, dramatic and totally entertaining. Each desperate to be the one to solve both old and new murders and all the glory that would push their careers further up and ladder of fame. I loved the idea of the cats being detectives, having more freedom than most other family pets and the ability to be more stealth and blend in. These two kept me totally involved in the story. A lovely light cozy read.
I wish to thank NetGalley and the publisher for an e-copy of this book which I have honestly reviewed.

Part three in this series and I like it more and more.

I appreciate stories with pets as main characters, although I have to admit that cats are not my favourite ones. Give me a dog (or more than one lol) any time and you have a friend for life in me, but hey tastes differ and I am the first to respect other people’s choices and it certainly does not make me like a book any less. 🙂

The author really captures the behaviour of cats. They feel slightly (or not so slightly LOL) superior to their humans and treat them often like slaves and who says pets are not able to speak? Of course they do not use words but if you pay attention you will understand perfectly what they want.

I also enjoy the way the author describes the conversations between the cats. If you would replace words like paws by hands or claws by nails, etc you could easily think you are following a discussion between a group of people.

The author combined the feline characteristics and the human ones beautifully.

Cats and humans united ! Murderers, be aware! 🙂 5 stars.

Thank you, Leighann Dobbs and Bookouture (via Netgalley)

So I’m back at the Oyster Bay Guest House, with Nero, Marlowe and their human Josie, along with her mum Rose and friend Millie. This is the third in the series, it can be read as a stand alone but I’d highly recommend reading the book before, A Whisker In The Dark because there’s bit of crossover story wise.

There’s ghostly high jinks afoot as the guest house is full of mediums and psychics all trying to find Jedediah Biddeford’s missing treasure and uncover his killer. Madam Zenda claims to be in contact with Jed but ends up dead with a letter of warning to stay away from the guest house. Did a Jed’s ghost really come back and kill her? Nero, Marlowe and Josie are on the case.

A Purrfect Alibi is a fun, fur filled mystery that I couldn’t get enough of!

I can’t tell you how much this series always manages to cheer me up. It’s chock full of lovable characters, great mysteries and with a little hint of romance in there too. I genuinely never thought I’d be a fan of animals as sleuths but now I just can’t get enough.

Truthfully I had the murderer pegged quite early on, but Leighann Dobbs really kept me guessing, doubting that I was right.

I really hope there are going to be more books from the Oyster Bay Guest House, and I for one can’t wait for more!

Fortune tellers and mediums have taken over Josie's guest house. All of them wanting to solve the mystery of who killed Jedidiah. All claim to speak with his.ghost. It's the cats that speak to him. Lovely series recommend this one and the others

Another wonderful book in the Oyster Cove Guesthouse mystery series, A Purrfect Alibi sees our resident feline sleuths Nero and Marlowe solving the murder of a tarot card reader. Madam Zenda was staying at the guesthouse, along with several other psychics trying to contact the ghost of former guesthouse owner Jedediah Biddeford, when she was murdered. So who murdered her? Was it one of the other psychics? They all seem to be hiding secrets! Or was it the ghost of Jedediah himself?

Nero and Marlowe have their work cut out for them this time, so along with their humans, they set about solving the murder in their own inimitable style.

A fabulous series, the Oyster Cove Guesthouse books never fail to entertain. Wonderful characters, a lighthearted manner, and of course, those marvellous cats, you can't help but feel swept along inside the tale. Highly recommended to all lovers of cosy mysteries.

My thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

The 3rd in The Oyster Cove Guesthouse series finds Josie still adjusting to her role of running the guesthouse as well as being mediums and fortune tellers trying to connect with Jedediah's ghost to find out who killed him 300 years ago. When one of the mediums is murdered there are not murders in the present and past to solve. With the help of her Mom, friend Millie and cats Nero and Marlowe she is able to finally pull it altogether. The story has lots of twists and turns with plenty red herrings pointing you in different directions. Solid cozy.
