First and foremost, a massive thank you to NetGalley, Bookouture, and the author Ruth Heald for the ARC of 'Your Guilty Lies' in exchange for an honest review.
Where do I start? I love the plot and writing style. It was simply addictive and unputdownable. I finished it in under 5 hours because I was eager to know the ending. The build-up is a roller-coaster ride!
I figured a few things out and had my suspicions early in the book but the plot twists made me doubt myself. All in all, a fantastic thriller. Big kudos to the author. Would most definitely read more books by her.

Whoa!! I stayed up til 6am reading this book! I needed to know the ending! This book was TWISTED. In the best and worst way. Katie has just found out that she is pregnant from a man named Ian she is casually seeing. To her delight, he wants them to be a family and immediately moves them into a huge mansion. Upon arrival at the mansion, all is not what it seems. It is dilapidated and run down. When Katie goes to a coffee shop across the street to drown her sorrows, she meets the friendly and helpful Paula. Paula quickly offers to help Katie with her pregnancy since Katie is not too close to her family and her beau Ian will be away on business. What follows is a twisted tale of who can Katie trust and how well does she know anyone? Even her own family. This book was a true thriller with a creepiness I don’t feel very often from books these days. While some parts were predictable, others were jaw dropping and just plain horrid. Definitely a good thrilling read!! I’d love more from this author!
I had no real expectations going into this book, but it turned out to be a great read. A fast read as well. It was a great psychological thriller and I can’t wait to check out more of the authors books. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for a free copy in exchange for review.

First, a big thanks to NetGalley, Bookouture, and to the author, Ruth Heald for my advanced copy of Your Guilty Lies in exchange for an honest review.
What a fabulous, suspenseful, psychological thriller!! This was my first read by Ms. Heald, and I was so excited to not only discover a new author to add to my favorites list, but to greatly enjoy this twisty, atmospheric novel. Loved the scary story line and found it easy to read and fast paced. The characters are well defined, although a few are not very likable. This will keep the reader turning the pages even faster to discover the dangerous lies behind these character's facades.
When Katie, a naive young woman discovers she is pregnant with twins, she is terrified that she will become a single mother, alone with two babies! But her partner, Ian, although a relatively newcomer in her life, appears to be welcome the news of her pregnancy. He gives Katie a key to a house he owns in an affluent neighborhood and asks her to move in ahead of his arrival. What a shocker when Katie arrives at he house with all her belongings and discovers a nightmare! The house, empty, dark and neglected for years, has become a rat infested, dilapidated shell of a house. She also soon discovers that Ian is not the person that she had fallen in love with.
Then Paula comes into Katie's life and appears to be a savior. Paula professes to be a doula, an expert trained in child birth and infant care and offers to work for Katie free of charge, in exchange for room and board. As it becomes apparent that Katie can not depend on Ian for anything, Paula takes over not only Katie's care, but eventually the new born twins. As lies begin to come unveiled by all those surrounding Katie, she
becomes more and more dependent on Paula.
As the scary plot is revealed, Katie discovers that all the lies that are surrounding her have put her and her babies in imminent danger! But who can she trust? Her family? Ian? Paula? I couldn't read fast enough to finally discover the truth that was buried in all the lies! Your Guilty Lies is an exciting page turner, with a real twisty and unexpected ending. I highly recommend this book to those who love twists and turns, surprises, and a scary gothic feel! I am giving Your Guilty Lies a five star rating, and look forward to reading more thrillers by Ruth Heald.
Thank you Netgalley, Bookouture and Ruth Heald for allowing me to read this advance copy in exchange for an honest review.
WOW!
Katie is in her thirties, trying to get life figured out and living on a budget when she finds out she's pregnant. Not only is she about to become a mother to one baby but two! Her partner Ian, seems to be the perfect guy and will be a wonderful father to their children.......or is he.
Paula introduces herself as a doula and offers her services free of charge. She inserts herself into EVERY aspect of Katie's life and proves to be invaluable. Everyone around Katie senses something is not right with Paula except Katie herself. It was frustrating to see how clueless she was and how easily manipulated she was but at the same time understandable at being a first time mom to a family. Her mother and sister and BFF try to offer their help and support only to have Paula shut them out. Who is Paula and why is she so attached to the twins and Katie?
This book has more twists than a corkscrew. At first, I thought hmmm what a bummer, I've got this all figured out and have more than 50% of the book to go. Boy was I wrong! You no sooner get through with one twist and BAM the next one comes followed by another. Fast paced and hard to put down.
A very good storyline which held my attention and was easy to follow
I did guess what was going to happen so it was a little predictable. The ending was a bit weak for me. Saying that it’s still a good read
Thank you Net Galley and Bookouture for an early release of this Fabulous book! I tried to figure things out right away and some parts I did but other twists were WOW!! Roller coaster of a ride this book was. I thoroughly enjoyed it.
Thank you Bookouture and NetGalley for an advanced copy of this thriller and it was an addictive read, for sure.
Katie has a new romance, but when she finds out she’s pregnant, she believes Ian will flee the scene. He does not and is excited to be having twins. He buys a house for both of them to welcome their twins to and gives Katie the key so she can stay there through the last months of her pregnancy. She arrives and finds a dilapidated structure with almost no furniture and rats exiting the building. She contacts all her resources so she won’t have to sleep there, but nobody can help her.
Eventually, Ian sees the condition of the house and has some work done on it to make it livable.
Paula, a doula, comes on the scene and Katie is glad to have her move in and help with the babies. Ian misses the birth as he’s out of the country on business.
But who is lying and who’s telling the truth? Katie does some research and gets even more confused.
I highly recommend this fast-paced domestic thriller. Almost every chapter presents a new wrinkle, so hold on to your seat and keep the lights on, because you may well be as frightened as Katie. I know I was.
I could not put this book down! I wanted to keep reading it! Thank you to NetGalley for the advanced copy. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and have been telling people they MUST read it when it comes out. Maybe it could have ended different, but at the same time I think it was fitting, if that makes sense...Sometimes I thought Katie was a little naive, but then I think maybe it had to do with hormones and lack of sleep? Paula was crazy!!!! I am adding this one to my recommendation list! Thank you again NetGalley and Bookouture!
Sooooo good! I couldn’t put this book down and flipped pages late into the night until I finished. This is a unique and extremely enjoyable book. Must read!
I received a free copy of this book from #Netgalley for an honest review.
Katie lives with her best friend Amy and is dating Ian who she hasn't been with for very long when she finds out she is pregnant with twins. But Ian goes missing and misses the birth of the twins and won't reply to Katie's messages. Katie hires Paula for help and support of the children. Just as Katie is settling down, Ian turns up and he seems angry by the presence of Paula. Paula doesn't want Ian anywhere near the twins and Katie is stuck between the two. Katie doesn't know who to trust.
Okay so my summary of the book doesn't do it justice! However, I really enjoyed reading this book, it was very twisted and I would highly recommend it. Such a gripping mystery thriller! All the characters had secrets and the book was quite twisted.
One of the most twisted, shocking, heart-stopping psychological thrillers you’ll ever read! Fans of K.L. Slater, The Wife Between Us and The Girl on the Train, prepared to be kept up way past your bedtime as you race through this addictive page-turner. ..As per the blurb.
I didn't comment to anyone. It was just average to me. Not heart-stopping, And I am so over every book using "The Girl on The Train".
Sorry, was just ok for me.
Thank you to the publisher and Netgalley for the advance ecopy. Katie is a single woman looking to move on with her life when she finds out she's pregnant. She adjusts to the thought and moves out with her boyfriend Ian. She soon finds that her life is not going to be what she thought. She befriends Paula an older woman and soon enough starts to realize that everyone around her just may see more than she does. A very twisted, suspenseful and heart-pounding book! Highly recommend it! Amazing writing!
Thank you to Netgalley & Bookouture for the advanced copy of "Your Guilty Lies" By Ruth Heald.
This is the first I've heard of this author whilst looking what new Physcological Thriller to read. It was a very good storyline, it held my attention and was easy to follow. I'd give it a 3/5 for being gripping, I could kind of guess where the storyline was going to go, but at the same time it had a few bonus shockers chucked in for good measure.
The storyline has a perfect balance for hate/likable character's and they all had an interesting story or link come the end of the story. There were at some points when I was thinking to myself about the main character, "come on why haven't you cottoned on by now", but everything is wrapped up and finished off in the end, and even though I really did enjoy this book, the end seemed a little disappointing..... I don't know what I was expecting, but it just kind of ended. None the less a strong 4 stars from me!
This is a really sick domestic thriller with a really good plot and despicable people.. Katie, the naive and rather too trusting, young mother of twins moves into the home of her boyfriend and the house has as many secrets as all of the characters as all is slowly revealed as the story twists and turns.
Twisty psychological thriller which keeps building and building until the final breathtaking end! Everyone lies in this story which makes it difficult to know where the truth lies. There are innocents but most have ulterior motives. Reminiscent of a Lifetime movie.
Okay this book flat out scared me!!! I truly did not see the end coming at all. I would recommend this for people who like being scared but has to read to find out what happens next. What a great story this was. I only could read it during the day though:) Great story and looking forward towards more of Ruth's books.
Great book will be reading other books by this author.
Will also recommend this book to others.
Great read! 5*****
This is one of those books you can't wait to pick up again because you must find out what's going to happen next, I was totally engrossed. Katie, the main character is very naive, can someone be so naive? Maybe if someone is a master at manipulating, I suppose they can. As the story went on I found it to be a tad unrealistic, although having said that I thoroughly enjoyed the book and would recommend it.
