Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for the ARC. I love anything having to do with Nantucket and although I found this book to be a little predictable I really enjoyed it, fell in love with the characters and actually I hope that the author will continue their stories. This was a sweet feel good read.
Let it Snow is a holiday offering by author Nancy Thayer. Christina Antonioni has a small toy shop in one of the old fisherman sheds along the wharf where the Hy-Line ferry departs. Having inherited her small family home on the island, Christina is able to make ends meet. As the story begins, Christina catches a young urchin girl shoplifting a book of stickers. Christina tells the young girl to come back later in the day to help unpack her delivery and she can earn the sticker book. Although her wharf mates, Mimi, Harriet, and Jacob, don’t necessarily agree they do agree to chip in with some items for a young girl they believe to be in need.
A few days later, a well dressed man and woman visit Christina to return the items. It turns out that the child, Wink, is actually the very bored granddaughter of wealthy Oscar Bittlesman who owns a large section of land including the wharf and the shop sheds along it. Andy Bittlesman, Wink’s Uncle, takes a liking to Christina and they begin seeing each other. She is even invited to the large house on the bluff for dinner.
While Wink is dealing with her parents’ impending divorce and Andy is trying to figure out how he can slow down his work life, Oscar has raised the rent on the sheds by 20%. This is well above what any of the tenants are able to pay. Christina takes the lead for the tenants to try to right this and throws an interesting challenge Oscar’s way.
With interesting characters, a lovely setting, a joyous holiday, and a daring heroine, this is a delightful Christmas tale. I did enjoy this book and I do recommend it!
LET IT SNOW was the perfect book to start my Christmas reading this year. I loved the quaint Christmas Toy shop in Nantucket run by Christina and the other shopkeepers her dear friends. The characters win your heart over: Wink an adorable little girl, her Uncle and her even her Grandfather who is rich and a Scrooge. Christina will challenge Mr. Bittlesman, knowing she could lose everything, but believing in the magic of Christmas. This is an amazing story of family, loyalty and love.
Simple, sweet and smiley- that’s how I’d describe this story of Christmastime in Nantucket. Christina Antonioni owns a local toy shop and it’s really delightful to be immersed in the sense of community she has with her fellow shopkeepers and friends.
I truly adored this story and I'd recommend it to anyone hoping for a cute, cozy book this time of year. It's absolutely lovely, lighthearted, and I love the ease with which it can be read. Thanks so much to the publishing company and Netgalley for allowing me to read a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review! I'll be posting a more in-depth review on my blog closer to the release date in December at www.bookishabigial.com and on my Instagram account @BookishAbigail.
Super cute holiday book! Fun quick and easy read, this sweet story will put you in the winter/holiday spirit. Nancy Thayer never disappoints!
Thank you to netgalley for the arc in exchange for an honest review.
If you’re in the market for a very sweet Christmas romance featuring a plucky heroine, adorable little girl and her hunky, rich uncle, plus her Scrooge-like grandfather, then you’ll enjoy this story of a toy-store owner on Nantucket trying to make a living at Christmas while facing the threat that her landlord is going to raise her rents high enough to put her out of business. It doesn’t help that she’s attracted to his handsome son. Add in a very sweet granddaughter trying to cope with her parents’ marital difficulties and the ingredients are all there for a sweet, yet predictable romance.
I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book that I received from Netgalley; however, the opinions are my own and I did not receive any compensation for my review.
Let It Snow is the perfect Hallmark Christmas story about a toy shop keeper, Christina, and a young girl, Wink, who is broken up over her parent's divorce. Wink's uncle, Andy, is a wonderful, considerate, wealthy son of the new owner of her shop building. Oscar, the building's owner is a definite Scrooge. The character are wonderful and relatable, and the story really puts you in the Christmas spirit.
This book definitely made me feel the warmth of Christmas and I realize I am going to miss having the Hallmark channel this year. This is the type of book that will fill that void for me. It kept me interested and engaged and was a perfect quick read. I love the setting and all of the characters. The romantic pairing was obvious from the beginning which is usually the case, but for this book it left me struggling to feel the romantic tensions between the two characters. Having said that, there were a lot of other stories within the book and the characters were all very likable so I enjoyed this book very much.
A quick read that is heartwarming and touching. I was invested in everyone's story and felt like I was with them.
A delightful Christmas story by Nancy Thayer. The definition of a good book too me is ones that catches my interest from the first page and hold it until the last. Let It Snow definitely did that for me. This book has romance, humor, Christmas spirit and more all in a unique seaside setting. I don't retell the story like so many reviewers because that ìs so irritating to me. I will simply say this a lovely story and you won't want to miss it.
This book was really good. It was my first book from this author and I enjoyed it. This book had a gre as t storyline, backedvup by great characters and chemistry. I did not move until this book was finished.
If you’re looking for a sweet Christmas read this winter, this is it! Set in Nantucket. Who wouldn’t want to grow up there and live on island as an adult? This book offers that perfect escape.
Christina is a native Nantucketer. At 30 years old, she has a toy store on the island. She loves children but has not yet met Mr. Right. One day a 9 year old girl comes into the store with her mother. Christina sees the girl, Wink, slip a sticker book into her pocket. The mother is rather harsh. Wink ends up helping Christina out a few days a week. Wink is the granddaughter of a wealthy islander who has just moved there year round. A grumpy, old (65), very wealthy man!
Christina meets Wink’s uncle, Andy, a handsome, single man. Ummm, you can imagine what happens there!
This is a delightful story of love and friendship in a storybook setting. The author illustrates what is really important in life- love, friendship and kindness.
I always enjoy Nancy Thayer's books and this one did not disappoint. It's a good book to read to get into the Christmas spirit. The setting is lovely and the plot unique. The characters are believable and Wink is the star.
This is an enchanting Christmas story, perfect for getting into the holiday spirit! Delightful characters and an idyllic setting make this a captivating tale of the bonds of friendship, the magic of childhood, and the power of love. A wonderful read!
Now this was a Christmas story! I was able to get right into it with all the characters....I was cold, wet, singing Christmas carols...the whole ball of wax...lol Ms. Thayer painted very vivid pictures.
All that and a precocious 9-year old with a single, handsome uncle.
This story was happy all the way through for the main characters and mostly happy for the secondary characters but the story lines moved along so well they weren't unhappy for long.
It is a Christmas story so there was one ole curmudgeon-y old crouch to "wake up" to Christmas naturally.
Thank you Ms. Thayer for a new HEA Christmas story.
This book was gifted to me by the author and NetGalley in return for an honest review.
Let it Snow by Nancy Thayer is a classic, light, romantic book with a Christmas setting in Nantucket, and a great cast of characters. I enjoyed reading this book and it kept me interested. Christina, Wink, Andy, Oscar, Delia, the Shedders and Janice all had a great place in the story and the book made me feel like I was in their story.
The perfect holiday romance. There’s engaging children, colorful locals the prerequisite Scrooge, and the perfect Christmas setting. I liked that these characters, all of them, held back from going to the next level before they worked out their issues. Touching with just the right amount of cheer.
I never miss a novel written by Nancy Thayer.
I enjoy her writing and I love reading about Nantucket!
Let it snow is a lovely holiday story centered around Christina, her friends and co workers, and a wealthy family who had recently made their home on the island.
The book was fun to read and had a happy ending.
A lovely Christmas story. Warm, romantic and entertaining. Set in Nantucket and the town plays a prominent role in the story. I very much enjoyed it.
Loved this sweet Christmas romance set in Nantucket. This is a Hallmark syrupy romance between a local shop owner and a rich bachelor. While predictable, I liked the story and the chemistry between the main characters.
