There are some writers who just get it and Nancy Thayer is one of them. Her stories create a magical place for her readers where they become a part of the story and have a vested interest in the characters. You know from the beginning what will happen it the end, but it in no way detracts from enjoying the ride to the very end. I always cannot wait for her next new novel to be released.
Heartwarming, sweet holiday read. If you like Hallmark Christmas movies, this is the book for you.
Many thanks to NetGalley, the publisher and the author for my ARC. All opinions are my own.
I've never been disappointed in one of the authors books. It is always a pleasure to read them. I especially like the characters that she creates and uses in her stories.
Let It Snow by Nancy Thayer is a warm Christmas story with a Scrooge-like character causing issues for the "shedders" - the shopkeepers who have shops in sheds.
This author is talented at providing readers interesting characters that are 3 dimensional and relatable. Like most Christmas stories this one is filled with the spirit of the holidays and makes for a quick read.
Nantucket is always a setting I enjoy reading about, especially at the holidays. If you like Hallmark Christmas movies, heartwarming stories and Christmas books in general, this is the book for you.
Thank you to Netgalley, the author and publisher for an ARC at my request. All thoughts are my own.
Cute, fast read. I loved how festive this book was...it truly gets you into the holiday spirit. The plot was warm and fuzzy and the characters likable. 3/5 for me because I wish there was a bit more! Overall though, I would recommend this book!
I really enjoyed this story of Christmas on Nantucket. I felt connected with the characters, and I always love novels set on Nantucket. It's a heartwarming, lovely story of the season.
Christina is not looking forward to Christmas this year as much as she has in the past after losing both her parents within the past year. Still living on Nantucket Island in the house she grew up in that they left to her, and running the toy shed on the wharf that she's owned for years, Christina survives with the love and friendship of the other shed owners on the wharfs. Until the day she receives the notice of an increase in rent in the New Year, Christina has started looking positively at the holidays. What will become of her and the other shed owners if they can't change the scrooge landlord's mind about the raise in rent?
This light, uplifting, easy Holiday romance book is perfect for the upcoming season. It's a story of making new friendships and loves, while strengthening the bonds that already exist in your life. And it’s based in one of my bucket list dream destinations: Nantucket Island.
This cute little book is a solid 4 out of 5. I can’t rate it 5, because characters are mostly sort of one dimensional. Nevertheless it’s a cute little beach read or holiday weekend away read and I thoroughly enjoyed reading it. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the egalley in exchange for a review.
Let it Snow by Nancy Thayer is a wonderful Christmas read. Nancy Thayer has managed to write a sweet love story that epitomizes the gifts of Christmas of love, friendship, caring and sharing. The story is neither preachy nor overly flowering. Christina Antonioni rents a small space for her toy shop in Nantucket. It is not well maintained, so it is cold this time of year, but Christina is determined to have a great Christmas season. Too bad the landlord has decided to raise the rent to a level that is not possible.
Andy Bittlesman is her landlord’s son. He is charming and is sweeping Christina off her feet. Christina falls even harder for his niece, Wink a youngster that has captured her heart. Still the fear of losing her livelihood and falling for someone out of her league are overwhelming. To top it all off, Christina feels the sadness of her first Christmas alone all,
With the season of sharing and caring, it is hard to not find hope. Christina is determined to put her best foot forward. Andy is growing more dear to her and the season of Christmas with her friends shines. Let It Snow by Nancy Thayer reminds us all that is good this season and accents that goodness with a sweet love story. Nancy Thayer has written a good read!
This was a story you’ve read a hundred times but should read again. Girl meets boy, boy has money girl feels not worthy. You know what is going to happen but it’s a cute read anyway. I like all of Nancy Thayer’s book. I will continue to read anything she writes.
This is a charming, feel-good book with likable characters and a nice story. Sure the ending is predictable, inevitable, and maybe unrealistic - - but who cares. The journey getting to that ending was very enjoyable.
This was a fun and delightful read that I read in one sitting! It wasn't too thought-provoking, so it was the perfect piece of chick lit to pick up after a long day at work.
Let It Snow by Nancy Thayer is a wonderful book, loaded with the spirit of Christmas. Christina is the owner of a small, charming toy store on Nantucket. When the landlord raises the rent of her shop and those around her, the shop owners band together to do something about it. Christina's challenge to the landlord is unique and unheard of, but will he take her up on it?
Another darling novel from Nancy Thayer, sure to delight all of us who love a little Christmas joy!
Have you ever wondered what a modern day version of A Christmas Carol would entail? Look no further than Let It Snow by Nancy Thayer. Imagine if Scrooge lived on Nantucket and was a father and grandfather. Let It Snow was a wonderful Christmas story that has me so excited for the holiday season.
My complaint, and it may have been corrected in the final copy (my copy was an Uncorrected proof): the author mentions the shed being cold and heated by a space heater in almost every chapter. I think this was mentioned far too much.
I received an advance copy. All thoughts are my own.
Thank you Netgalley for the advanced copy. A wonderful holiday story that will warm you up on a winters night about an unexpected love. Christina and her shop keeper friends love their little stores by the shores of Nantucket. With the height of the Christmas season upon them - they face the hustle and bustle of shoppers and Christina and unexpected new man in her life. It’s a great story of friendship, love of Nantucket and new love
Highly entertaining, heartwarming, emotional and engaging journey filled with exciting charters, heart string pulling twists and an enchanting holiday adventure...... was a great read from beginning to end. Excellent reading!
I totally love this book! It pretty much makes you feel every one of your emotions and that’s awesome for a book. Nancy has never ever let me down in all the books that I have read of hers. If you have never read her books you really need to start. Thanks for the great book Nancy!
A cute Christmas love story. Not much happens. I don't know what it was that kept me reading it but I did. Thank you to the publisher and Netgalley for letting me read it. I take exception with the 65 yr old grandfather being described as old, forgetful, and bordering on infirm. This being my first Nancy Thayer read I have nothing to compare it too.
A fun and uplifting Christmas story.
Christina is a strong, independent woman who is very lonely. It is the first Christmas without her parents. Their deaths weigh on her particularly at this time of year. She decides not to do anything for Christmas but that changes when she meets nine-year-old, Wink, her mother, and her uncle, Andy. As Christina grows closer to Wink and Andy, she is conflicted when Andy’s crusty father raises the rent on Christina’s toy shop.
Read to find out whether Christina and her friends at the wharf lose their shops. The relationship with Andy could (or not) be doomed over the rent hike.
This is typical of Nancy Thayer’s books – fun, easy to read, entertaining, and romantic. It puts you in the holiday spirit, even if you are determined to be a Scrooge.
One of the best Christmas romances this year!
I received an ARC from Random House (Ballantine) through NetGalley. This in no way affects my opinion or rating. I am voluntarily submitting this review.
I love Nancy Thayer's books and her summer book, Surfside Sisters, was one of my absolute favorites of hers, so when I heard we'd be getting a bonus Christmas book this year, I was really excited. Unfortunately, this one really felt phoned in to me - none of the vibe and feelings I normally get from her books and even for a holiday book, it was just way too predictable. I'll chalk this one up to a one off and be eagerly awaiting her next summer novel next year!
