LOVED this book!! Couldn't put it down. Let it snow is a feel good Christmas novel just in time for the holidays.
4.5 ☆ Let It Snow is a sweet entertaining story set in Nantucket at Christmastime. In her small hometown, Christina owns a toy shop on the Nantucket wharf along with three other friends that own other stores right beside hers. It’s in Christina’s own shop where she meets 9 year old Wink under naughty circumstances, and soon after meets Wink’s (bitter and scowling) mom Delia, and Winks very charming and handsome, Uncle Andy. Christina quickly becomes attached to Wink who works under her tutelage in the toy shop to make right a wrong. She also begins falling for Andy who seems to feel the same about her too.
Bad news comes to the shop owners as they all receive a notice that their rental rates will climb after the first of the year. Christina is certain she’ll have to close her store if that happens. Oscar Bittlesman is their landlord, and a scrooge to boot. Will the renters figure out an alternative with Mr Bittlesman other than closing their doors? Sparks are flying between Christina and her landlords son Andy, leaving Christina in an odd position. Does she stay clear of Andy or let her heart take over? This was such a fun story, and a perfect pre-holiday novel that has me anticipating the season yet to come. I highly recommend!
Thanks to Ballantine and NetGalley for sending me a copy in exchange for an honest review.
We are brought back to Nantucket for Christmas. The wind whipping off the water, the cold and damp just goes through you. Christina and some of her friends have sheds along the wharf to sell their wares. But Scrooge Oscar Bittlesman is going to raise the rent, which would put them out of business. A Christmas miracle is needed. It comes in the form of Wink, Oscar's granddaughter, and his son Andy. A little caroling in the old fashion costumes and snow. Will Scrooge have a change of heart. Will all the wishes be granted? I thoroughly enjoyed this book!
Fans of Thayer's books will welcome this newest Nantucket Island book.. Christina Antonioni is preparing her shop for Christmas when she discovers this might be her last Christmas season unless she can find a way to pay the increased rent of the island miser.
While she and the other shopkeepers plot ways to keep their beloved stores open they all must find ways to face their own personal problems in the midst. Lighthearted and an easy quick read.
This was a cute, sweet Christmas time story even if a bit cliche and predictable. This ended up not being my favorite story but it was not bad either if you want to get the feels while drinking some hot cocoa.
I received a free ARC from the publisher in exchange for my honest opinion. All thoughts are my own.
After losing both of her parents in the last year, toy shop owner Christina is dreading her first Christmas without them. Luckily for her, she's about to meet a charming 9 year old girl, Wink, and her dashing Uncle Andy. Unfortunately, Andy's father is also grumpy old Oscar who owns Christina's shop building. Will the magic of Christmas help her secure the man of her dreams despite this challenge?
This was a quick, light read perfect for the busy holiday season!
My favorite book by this author is still Secrets in Summer (4 stars)!
Location: Nantucket, Massachusetts
I received an advance copy of this book. All opinions are my own.
This book was a charming Christmas read. The characters made me like & hate them and my favorite character was the little girl named Wink. Nancy Thayer does a wonderful job of combining drama in with romance to make the reader experience a myriad of emotions, until the very end.
This is such a fun romance that really gets you into the Christmas spirit. I really enjoyed getting to know all of the characters & it made me want to visit Nantucket. Highly recommend reading this book!
Let it Snow is the perfect story to read snuggled up to a cozy fire, with a sparkling Christmas tree nearby! Completely entertaining and charming, you will fall in love with Christina, Andy, Wink and all of the other wonderful characters. The setting of Nantucket is perfect, adding a fun layer to this story.
The Christmas season is here and the “shedders” are preparing for the rush of last minute shoppers. All the streets and shops in Nantucket are decorated for the season. The only thing that would make it perfect would be snow.
Christina has her toy shop all stocked and is ready for the Christmas shoppers. Even though she has worked hard to get prepared for the season now that it is here she cannot get into the spirit. Christmas was always a special time in her family and with both her parents gone it seems it will be a lonely holiday. But when a little girl named Wink comes into her shop everything changes.
A heartwarming story about love, giving and friendship. A must read Christmas book!
Thank you Netgalley and Random House for a chance to preview this book.
Christina had no idea of the identity of Wink, the 9 year old girl she caught shoplifting in her toy store but oh boy! She actually thought Wink was a needy child and convinced her colleagues to donate gifts to her as well. Christina and her fellow shopowners in a set of sheds near the waterfront on Nantucket have just been told their rents will be raised - raised really high- by their landlord. Guess who the landlord is- it's Wink's grandfather Oscar, who is a really wealthy man. Wink's parents are planning to divorce so she is needy- needy for affection and attention not material things. Her uncle Andy is the bright spot in her life and he might be the one for Christina as well. Will Andy and Christina get together? Will Oscar be persuaded not to crush the dreams of the shop owners who operate with virtually no amenities? Ah- this is a Nancy Thayer story so you know it's gonna be heartwarming and happy. Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC. Perfect to cheer you for the holidays.
This is a nice, feel-good and light-hearted Christmas season read. It takes place on the perfect Christmas holiday destination, Nantucket Island and follows a quirky woman who owns a toy shop. I really enjoyed this novel. It was a quick, easy novel to read and full of drama and holiday cheer! One thing I did not feel, especially at first, was the natural flow of conversation between the characters, it just didn't fit together well and believably- though the problem did get better as the book continued. I didn't, however, get the feelings I do about characters in a very well written novel. Otherwise, the plot and location were fun and appropriate for the yuletide season!
I received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest, unbiased review from Netgalley and Ballantine Books.
A sweet, enchanting holiday read that could be a Hallmark movie.
Christina and three of her friends are known as “shedders” and run shops on the wharf in Nantucket. Unlike other store owners, the shedders have their shops in sheds that are part of Nantucket’s history. So much of their income comes from the weeks leading up to Christmas. So when their landlord sends them a letter indicating that he plans to raise their rent by 10%, Christina is appointed to appeal to the landlord. Through a series of unexpected happenings, she also becomes involved with the rest of his family. Christmas magic abounds in this heartwarming book. Thank you Netgalley and Random House Ballentine Books for an Advanced Reader Copy. I voluntarily read this book and the review and comments are my honest opinion.
This is a fun Christmas story that takes place on Nantucket. Christina runs a little toy shop near the ferry. After she catches nine year old Wink trying to shoplift some stickers, she ends up meeting the girl's Uncle Andy. Andy is a rich guy from NYC, so she tries not to give in to her attraction to him.
Both of Christina's parents died in the last year, so she is not quite in the holiday mood this year. Through her interactions with Wink, Andy, their family, and her friends she finds her holiday spirit and much more.
I received a copy of this book to review from Random House Publishing Group - Ballantine through NetGalley and thoroughly enjoyed it.
My review will be on Goodreads plus Amazon after the book is published.
Let it Snow by Nancy Thayer is a charming Christmas story full of love and good cheer. There is a little drama to keep things real, but overall a great holiday read.

Let It Snow is a sweet Christmas novel that is set in Nantucket. The main character, Christina, is preparing for the season in her toy store, along with her friends that also own stores. Their landlord is trying to raise their rent, and no one can simply afford that. Christina goes out of her way to show Oscar that they can not afford the hike in their rent, and asks him to come spend ome hour working in her shop. Along the way, she starts to fall for Oscar's son Andy, and has some conflicting things to work through.

This book reminds me of a Hallmark movie, and I always love books set in Nantucket. It was charming and cute, but if you don't enjoy cheesy Christmas books, this will not be the one for you. I enjoyed all the characters, especially Wink, who is Andy's niece. I believe this is my first book by Nancy Thayer, and I can't wait to read more of her work! Let It Snow is on sale October 15th, 2019!
I received an ARC from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Nancy Thayer can spin disaster into the best, most unbelievable story. Her characters are your neighbors, your friends or your family. Absolutely fantastic book! Enjoy! 📚
I have written this review for the New York Journal of Books site where it will be posted the evening prior to the release date.

Christina Antonioni, a native to the Massachusetts island of Nantucket runs a toy shop in one of the unwinterized sheds situated on the ferry dock which extends out over the ocean.
She and three other business owners who call themselves the "Shedders" brave the conditions in the drafty cottages where their only convenience is electricity. Christina, Jacob Greenwood, and Harriet Colby eat lunch at Mimi Mattes shed which is the biggest one.
One day before lunch, Christina catches a young girl shoplifting.
"Christina bent down to put something in her glass display case. Through the glass, she saw the girl swiftly slide a small mermaid sticker book into the pocket of her jeans.
"It was only a five-dollar item. She wanted to let her have it, poor child.
"But children should be taught not to steal.
"'Please put the sticker book back,' Christina ordered in a firm voice.
"The girl jumped. She glared at Christina with her mouth bunched up in defiance. Then, to Christina's chagrin, her face turned red, and she burst into tears.
"'It's not fair! She wailed. 'I only took a little thing.'
"'It's still stealing,' she quietly reminded the child.
"'It's Christmas!' The girl blubbered. 'My parents are getting divorced, and my mom and I are staying with my grandfather, and I don't have any toys or dolls here, and we don't even have a Christmas tree! I just want something!'
Christina feels bad for the little girl and offers a job. This way she can pay her for helping her unload boxes and give her a discount on anything she wants. The girl is surprised, leaving Christina wondering if she'll return. While eating, Christina tells her colleagues about the incident and Jacob suggests they each give the girl something from their shop.
Winifred "Wink" Bittlesman is the thief, and the granddaughter of wealthy Oscar Bittlesman, the landlord of the sheds and now a permanent resident of Nantucket. Wink can well afford to purchase anything, so why is she stealing? Is the nine-year-old doing this for attention?
Wink does return to help Christina, and they get to know each other better. Even though she only works fifteen minutes, Christina gives her $5 as payment along with the gift bag with items from her friends. There is something about this girl that tugs are Christina's heart, making this the beginning of a special friendship.
When Christina is closing for the day, a woman enters with a scowl on her face. She says she is Delia, Wink's mother, and empties the gifts given to her daughter on the counter. With her haughty disposition, she insists upon returning them, stating they should go to a more needy child.
Accompanying Delia is a shockingly handsome man Christina assumes is her husband, but in fact, is her brother, Andy. He apologizes for Delia's rudeness and explains that Wink is on the island for Christmas while her parents are fighting their legal battle. Christina informs him of the different activities Wink can attend, and he shocks her by asking her to dinner.
"Christina felt herself blush. She'd never been so instantly attracted to anyone since . . . well, she'd never been so instantly attracted to anyone. It was terrifying."
One would think this may be the start of an exciting relationship, but when the "Shedders" receive notice that Oscar is raising their rent starting in February, Christina realizes she cannot get involved with Andy. It wouldn't be right seeing his father is putting such high demands on their meager earnings and it would be a conflict of interest if she were to get involved with Andy. If Oscar goes ahead with his threat, Christina and the others too, would not be able to keep their businesses open.
Distraught about any possibility of a love life and the loss of her livelihood is more than Christina can take. Is there a way she can change Oscar's mind, and if so, could she ever anticipate a relationship with Andy who is so far about her socially and financially?
Nancy Thayer, well-known author of beach novels takes this one step further with, Let it Snow, a wonderful, descriptive tale of romance and the harsh, cold winters showing Nantucket in a completely different light than that of the summer months. One can sense the chilling, blustery winds, and smell the pungent scent of the air, yet feel the warmth of love and friendship which makes this a charming holiday read.
I love books that take the reader to island life and Nancy Thayer always does a great job with her books set in Nantucket.
Let it Snow is a quick, but satisfying, read, and good for an infusion of the holiday spirit, regardless of the time of year you read the book. I hope that Ms. Thayer has plans for another book about these interesting and charming characters.

This book is your typical Christmas themed type book. Not a whole lot of action, really no action at all. But it does give you that feel good vibe. Christina is a small toy shop owner during Christmas time. By chance she meets and becomes friends with some very wealthy people. One of which she believes she is falling in love with. This book shows you how people in a small community can come together and give back. Although nothing really stands out in this book as being different or unique. I did enjoy reading it and it was a nice quick read. I also have to admit at the end it did make me cry. So if you were looking for a nice Christmas themed book you have found it here.
